Chapter 56: A Single Finger!

The Vice City Lord’s residence had already collapsed by more than half.

In the center of the ruins, a scarlet rift hung horizontally in midair.

Dense swarms of Abyss monsters continued crawling out of it.

Some resembled giant wolves, with bone spurs growing from their backs.

Others looked like deformed giant apes, waving four powerful arms.

Flying monsters circled above, spitting black corrosive liquid toward the ground.

Westmere’s professionals had already formed a defensive line.

Shield Warriors stood at the front while Mages and Archers unleashed attacks without pause.

Healers continuously cast recovery skills.

Assassins moved along the edges of the monster horde, desperately killing any creatures that slipped through the defensive line.

"Hold the line!"

"Don’t let them break through!"

"The residential district is right behind us!"

"Fire-element professionals, focus your attacks on the left!"

"Healer! We have a critically injured professional here!"

Roars, explosions, and monster screeches blended into a deafening chaos.

The entire eastern side of Westmere had become a battlefield.

There were simply too many monsters.

Worse still, the corruption had made them even more violent than ordinary dungeon creatures.

Even after losing limbs, they continued screeching and lunging at their enemies.

Edmund Sterling and Adrian Cross stood at the very front, fighting with all their strength.

However, Westmere’s strongest defenders were still missing a crucial piece of their former strength.

Facing the corrupted monster tide from a Level 205 dungeon, they could barely keep the situation under control.

As time passed, the defensive line began to crumble.

Professionals were injured one after another.

The Shield Warriors were forced backward by repeated impacts.

Even the Healers were beginning to exhaust their mental energy.

Just then...

A low roar suddenly erupted from deep within the rift.

"ROAR!!!"

A massive black creature, more than ten meters tall, slowly crawled out.

Its body was covered in thick scales.

Three curved horns grew from its head, while its scarlet eyes glowed like two blood-red lanterns.

[Abyss Corrupted Bone Beast King (BOSS)]

[Level: 300]

The moment everyone saw the boss, their hearts sank.

"The boss is here!"

"Damn it!"

"We can’t stop that thing!"

The Abyss Corrupted Bone Beast King suddenly lowered its head and spat out a stream of black energy.

BOOM!

More than a dozen professionals at the front were blasted away.

The defensive line was torn open.

Edmund roared and rushed forward, trying to block the creature.

But with a single strike, he was sent flying dozens of meters backward.

Adrian’s expression turned grim.

"This is bad."

"Westmere no longer has a Pillar."

"Against a crisis of this scale, we simply can’t hold out!"

Despair appeared in the eyes of the surrounding professionals.

No Pillar.

Those two words weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts.

And just when the defenders were at their most desperate...

An aged voice suddenly came from above the night sky.

"I arrived just in time."

The voice wasn’t loud.

Yet the moment it sounded, the entire eastern battlefield seemed to be pressed down by an invisible hand.

The monster roars, the professionals’ shouts, and the explosions of countless skills all seemed to fade.

Edmund abruptly raised his head.

Adrian’s pupils contracted.

The next second, everyone saw a figure slowly descending from the night sky.

It was an old man wearing a dark cyan robe.

His hair was gray, and his build was thin rather than imposing.

Yet the moment he appeared, the surging black energy around him seemed to encounter its natural enemy and retreated in every direction.

The Abyss Corrupted Bone Beast King fixed its scarlet eyes on the old man.

"ROAR!!!"

Sensing the threat, it raised its head and unleashed a stream of black energy.

The attack was powerful enough to corrode steel.

It shot straight toward the old man.

"Watch out!"

Someone shouted in alarm.

But the old man merely raised his eyelids.

"How noisy."

He extended one finger.

Then he tapped the air.

There were no dazzling skill effects.

No earth-shaking explosion.

It was nothing more than a casual movement of his finger.

Yet the next moment...

The black breath froze in midair.

Then it shattered piece by piece.

The Abyss Corrupted Bone Beast King’s enormous body suddenly shook.

BOOM!

Its three giant horns exploded at once.

The thick scales covering its body began cracking from its forehead and spreading downward.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

The cracks spread across its entire body.

Finally, under the stunned gazes of everyone present, the Level 300 boss that had plunged Westmere into despair crumbled into black dust.

It was dead.

One finger.

A Level 300 boss had been killed with a single finger.

The entire eastern battlefield fell silent.

Even the Abyss monsters that had been charging forward seemed to lose their momentum. Their movements stalled.

The old man casually waved his hand.

A cyan curtain of light swept across the battlefield.

Every Abyss monster touched by the light curtain vanished into dust before it could even scream.

Within a few breaths, most of the monster tide that had nearly broken Westmere’s defensive line had been wiped out.

Edmund stood frozen, his throat dry.

Adrian was equally stunned.

The surrounding professionals stared at the scene in disbelief.

"Is... is it over?"

"That was a Level 300 boss!"

"One finger?"

"He killed it with one finger?"

"I couldn’t even see what skill he used!"

"Just who is this senior?"

"Is he a powerful professional passing through?"

Everyone was bewildered.

Only moments ago, they had been fighting with everything they had and could barely hold the monster tide back.

The appearance of the Abyss Corrupted Bone Beast King had pushed them to the edge of despair.

Yet this old man had arrived and erased the crisis in a few breaths.

The gap between them was beyond anything that ordinary tactics, coordination, or numbers could overcome.

Edmund took a deep breath and immediately stepped forward.

"Senior, thank you for your help."

"Without your timely arrival, Westmere might have..."

The old man waved his hand.

"It’s my duty."

Edmund was taken aback.

Adrian suddenly seemed to realize something.

His expression changed slightly.

"May I ask your name, Senior?"

The old man replied calmly.

"Dorian Kessler."

"I’ve been transferred here to serve as Westmere’s new Pillar."

"Level 400."

BOOM!

The moment those words fell, the eastern battlefield erupted once again.

"What?!"

"The new Pillar?"

"Level 400?!"

"The authorities have transferred a Level 400 expert to Westmere?"

"Did I hear that correctly?"

"Westmere has a Level 400 Pillar again?"

Everyone was so shocked that they could hardly believe their ears.

They had expected the authorities to appoint another powerful professional after Westmere lost its Three Pillars.

But most people had assumed that a Level 300 professional would be enough.

After all, Westmere was only a border city.

Its resources weren’t among the best, and its strategic importance wasn’t particularly high.

The main reason the previous Three Pillars had remained in Westmere for so many years was that it was their hometown.

A Level 400 professional!

Someone at this level could serve as a top combat force even in one of the Aurelian Alliance’s major cities.

Edmund and Adrian exchanged glances.

Both could see the shock in the other’s eyes.

The powerful professionals from the various families and commercial organizations were even more excited.

"Senior Kessler, with you guarding Westmere from now on, we can finally rest easy!"

"That single finger just now was truly incredible!"

"The Sterling family is willing to cooperate fully with Senior Kessler to maintain order in Westmere!"

"Our commercial organization will do everything we can to support your work!"

One after another, Westmere’s influential figures rushed toward the new Pillar.
