Chapter 28: Body and Soul Upgrade
Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Body and Soul Upgrade
Once the potion formulas were locked in his mind, he moved to the artifact section. There, resting on a velvet cushion, was a silver band called the "Ring of the Focused Mind." According to its blueprint diagram, the inner band was etched with thirty-two interlocking runes that calmed spiritual turbulence and sharpened a sorcerer’s mana control by thirty percent.
?Leaning close to the glass, Aegon studied the microscopic runic geometry from every angle until he could visualize the entire circuit with his eyes closed.
?"Would the young master like to purchase the ring?" a clerk asked, approaching with a polite bow. "It is a bargain at three thousand gold coins."
?"No need. I already have what I came for," Aegon replied.
?Afterward, he simply disappeared.
?The next time he was seen, he was inside his dimly lit room.
?"ATUM," he called, and the Grimoire of Creation responded.
?The dark pages unfolded, revealing the Quill of Finality from within.
?Holding the Quill in his hand, Aegon felt a sense of supreme power. The power to create anything was deeply exhilarating.
?He smirked.
?"Time to create those potions..."
Sitting at the wooden desk in his dimly lit room, Aegon steadied his breathing and decided to start with the Titan’s Marrow Potion.
?Closing his eyes halfway, he recalled the complex alchemical registry he had memorized at The Golden Cauldron.
The tip of the Quill of Finality touched the pitch-black page of ATUM.
As he drew the picture the potion, he projected the mental blueprint of powdered earth-drake bones, crimson lotus sap, and the precise mana fermentation process into the book.
?However, alchemical concoctions were far more volatile than solid clockwork gears. Halfway through the manifestation, Aegon’s focus wavered for a fraction of a second while visualizing the temperature regulation of the final distillation stage.
?As a result, with a dull pop, a crystal vial materialized in midair and tumbled onto the desk, filled with a foul-smelling, clotted grey sludge that sizzled weakly before turning completely inert.
?Aegon frowned, rubbing his temple as a sharp sting reminded him that the failed attempt had still consumed two points of his spiritual energy.
?"Alchemy requires continuous harmony between the ingredients, not just a static structure. I just visualized the raw materials and the final liquid, but I rushed the chemical reaction in the middle."
?Calming his mind, he lifted the Quill once more. This time, he did not treat the potion like a lifeless machine. He imagined the exact flow of mana binding the herbal essences together drop by drop, maintaining ironclad focus from the first stroke of the feather to the last.
?When the glowing ink sank into the dark page, a soft golden light flashed above the desk.
?Clink.
?This time, a flawless crystal vial landed in his open palm.
Inside, a thick amber liquid swirled with tiny specks of golden light, radiating a rich, earthy warmth that made his blood hum just from holding it against his skin.
?Invigorated by his success, Aegon did not stop.
While the sensation of the formula remained fresh in his mind, he immediately drew a second Titan’s Marrow Potion into existence.
?Without pausing to wipe the cold sweat gathering on his brow, he turned his focus toward the Clear-Sky Elixir.
Because he had already grasped the rhythm of fluid manifestation, the purifying elixir came together without a single mistake.
One after another, two more crystal vials materialized on the mahogany table, each filled with a translucent, sky-blue liquid that smelled faintly of morning frost and ozone.
?The moment the fourth vial touched the wood, Aegon let out a exhausted gasp. His vision blurred as he slumped back against his chair.
.
?Glancing at the shimmering status panel hovering before his eyes, he saw that his spiritual reserves had been pushed to the absolute brink.
Because he only possessed a maximum capacity of 12 Soul Power, the initial failure alongside the four high-grade potions had drained him down to a single remaining point.
Creating two of each potion was the absolute limit of what his current soul could endure in one sitting.
?Even so, as Aegon stared at the four glowing vials lined up neatly on his desk, a satisfied smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
In less than half an hour, he had conjured thousands of gold coins’ worth of priceless alchemical treasures out of thin air.
?Still, his preparations for the day were not finished yet.
He dismissed the Grimoire and the Quill back into the depths of his soul, Aegon reached for the first amber vial.
He needed to drink the potions, refine their medicinal energy into his body, and meditate until his Soul Power fully recovered. Once his spiritual reserves were full again tonight, he would summon his Grimoire again to forge: the Ring of the Focused Mind.
Without wasting any time, Aegon picked up the first crystal vial of Titan’s Marrow Potion, pulled out the stopper, and tilted the thick amber liquid down his throat.
?It tasted like molten iron mixed with crushed embers.
?The instant the potion hit his stomach, a scorching shockwave erupted through his limbs. Aegon clamped his teeth together to stifle a groan, his fingers digging deep into the edges of the mahogany desk as his muscles began to spasm violently. Beneath his pale skin, his veins bulged dark and thick while the medicinal energy tore through his muscle fibers and sank straight into his bones.
?Every joint in his 10 year-old body let out a series of muffled pops as his skeletal structure grew denser and heavier.
Had he been an ordinary noble child, the intensity of a high-grade body-tempering concoction would have knocked him unconscious on the spot.
However, the passive physique granted by his Blood Berserker Grimoire acted like a ravenous furnace, greedily devouring the violent heat and weaving it directly into his flesh.
?Twenty minutes later, when the burning sensation finally subsided into a warm thrum of power, Aegon didn’t hesitate to uncork the second amber vial and drink it dry.
?Once both physical enhancement potions were fully digested, he felt incredibly strong physically. It felt he could crush a mountain with ease, but of course just two potions weren’t enough to achive that.
He woild watched the exact improvements after consuming the two vials of Clear-Sky Elixir.
?Drinking the sky-blue liquid brought the exact opposite sensation. An icy, refreshing current surged from his core and rushed into his mana channels like a mountain torrent breaking through a dam.
For years, his body in this world had been frail and sickly, leaving tiny, invisible sediment and blockages throughout his spiritual pathways. As the second elixir washed through him, those stubborn impurities were dissolved and expelled through his pores as a thin layer of foul, greyish residue.
?After this, he felt lightheaded and utterly spent.
He had to drag himself over to the washbasin to scrub his skin clean before collapsing cross-legged onto his bed.
Closing his eyes, he sank into a deep meditative trance to let his exhausted soul recover.
?Hours slipped by in complete silence while the sun dipped below the horizon and the floating lanterns of the Imperial Capital flickered to life outside his window.
Aegon woke up around midnight. And the first thing he wished to was status panel.
