Chapter 64: Chapter 64: A suspicion Draven has to accept.

"Did you enjoy your nighttime stroll?"

Draven remained motionless in front of his room door.

’How did she notice?’

He had returned using his shadow-displacement abilities, so he was certain no one had seen him enter the residence, and before leaving he had checked that everyone was resting.

’She can’t know.’

Draven took a deep breath.

"What stroll are you talking about?"

Ena’s expressionless voice answered immediately.

"The one you just took."

"..."

"Or would you prefer I call it an excursion?"

Draven closed his eyes for a moment.

’This woman...’

He needed to find a convincing explanation, since, although Ena was his personal maid, she also had instructions from Fenrick Valdegrim to monitor his recovery.

If she discovered he had left the residence in the middle of the night, she would probably tell Taliah, and that would be a fairly big problem.

’It’s fine, calm down.’

Draven looked at the desk again.

The instruments were put away and the dark clothes weren’t too noticeable either, so he only needed to act normally, which was why he opened the door.

Ena stood in front of him, holding a small tray with a glass of water and some medicine, keeping the same expressionlessness as always.

"Good morning, young Sir Draven."

"...Good morning."

The maid briefly examined his appearance and then directed her gaze toward the interior of the room.

"May I come in?"

"Of course."

Draven stepped aside, after which Ena entered and placed the tray on a small table.

Then she observed the bed, seeing that the sheets were slightly disordered, but they seemed too neatly arranged for someone who had supposedly slept through the entire night.

"How curious."

Draven raised an eyebrow.

"What is?"

"It seems you haven’t rested much."

"It’s just... I woke up early."

"I see."

Ena turned toward him.

"And why did you wake up early?"

Draven remained thoughtful for a moment and then found an answer.

"I wanted to watch the sunrise."

"..."

The maid watched him, so Draven smiled calmly.

"Lately I’ve spent too much time locked up, so I thought it would be nice to go out for a bit of a walk and observe the sunrise."

Ena continued looking at him, so the silence stretched for several seconds, and finally the maid nodded.

"I understand."

Draven felt a certain relief.

’It worked.’

However, Ena spoke again.

"So you went out to watch the women while they slept."

"..."

Draven blinked.

"What?"

"It seems like a reasonable explanation to me."

"What the hell are you talking about?!"

Ena tilted her head slightly.

"The reason for your stroll."

"I just told you I wanted to see the sunrise!"

"Of course."

The maid looked toward the window and then observed him again.

"However, there’s still quite a while before the sun comes up."

"..."

Draven remained motionless.

’Damn it.’

He had forgotten to consider that small detail, after which Ena continued speaking.

"Besides, the young ladies’ rooms have windows that face the gardens."

"And?"

"It’s a rather convenient place to watch them."

"I wasn’t doing that!"

"I understand."

"No, you don’t understand!"

The maid kept her usual expression.

"Then I must have misinterpreted your intentions."

"Exactly."

"My apologies, young Sir Draven."

The young man sighed.

"It’s fine."

Ena nodded and then added.

"I’ll try not to mention your perverted activities in front of Lady Taliah."

"..."

Draven looked at her.

"Ena."

"Yes?"

"I didn’t do anything perverted!"

"Of course."

"Stop answering that!"

"Understood."

The maid began arranging some objects on the desk while Draven took a deep breath.

’She’s definitely enjoying this.’

Although Ena almost never changed her expression, she had an extraordinary ability to make comments that managed to irritate him, and the worst part was that it was hard to tell when she was being serious.

"In any case, young Sir Draven."

"What?"

"You should be more careful."

Draven went still while Ena continued organizing the objects.

"Lord Fenrick asked me to supervise your recovery."

"I know."

"And Lady Taliah worries quite a bit about you."

"I know that too."

"That’s why it would be advisable for you to avoid nighttime activities."

Draven began to feel uncomfortable.

’Does she actually know something?’

However, the maid finished her comment.

"Especially those related to watching women while they sleep."

"..."

Draven brought a hand to his face.

"Not that again!"

Ena watched him calmly.

"Would you prefer I call it nighttime admiration?"

"No!"

"Understood."

The maid picked up the tray.

"Then I’ll use the term pervert."

"..."

Draven decided to stay silent.

’Fine.’

He watched her as she walked toward the door.

’If that’s the conclusion she reached, it’s better to leave it like that.’

As unpleasant as it was, he preferred that Ena believe he had gone out for embarrassing reasons rather than discover he had just infiltrated the academy’s administrative facilities.

If they reported him for spying on women, he would probably end up receiving a punishment from Taliah.

But if they found out he had illegally entered a protected warehouse and examined objects related to an official investigation, the consequences would be much more severe.

’Though I really hope she doesn’t tell Taliah.’

Ena stopped in front of the door.

"By the way."

Draven lifted his gaze.

"What is it?"

"Remember to take your medicine."

"I will."

"And try to rest a little before attending classes."

"All right."

The maid opened the door, but before leaving she looked at him again.

"Ah, young Sir Draven."

"..."

"If you need to watch the sunrise, you can do it from your window."

Draven remained motionless.

"It’s much safer."

"..."

"Good morning."

The door closed and Draven continued staring at it for several seconds until he finally let out a long sigh.

"This woman..."

He sat down in front of the desk.

’At least she didn’t find out what I did.’

Although he wasn’t completely sure of that.

After confirming that Ena had moved away, Draven recovered the instruments sent by Zenash.

He placed the small storage plates on the desk, and the inscriptions began to glow when he introduced a small amount of mana.

Shortly afterward, the records he had recovered during his infiltration of the warehouse appeared, after which Draven examined the results again.

’Let’s see.’

The magical fragments found among the mercenaries’ belongings had allowed the recovery of information about a monitoring system.

’So someone could check whether they were still alive.’

Draven observed the records, since the system also preserved information about the destination of the signals, and that was precisely what Draven needed.

’Now I have to interpret the coordinates.’

He activated the small compass, but the problem was that the coordinates used a reference system different from the one commonly employed in Aster.

’It’s probably one of the systems used by the dragons.’

Konia maintained its own methods of territorial recording.

Some were used by military organizations, while others belonged to commercial companies and groups dedicated to the transport of goods.

During his previous life, Sam had encountered several similar systems while playing, but he didn’t remember all their particularities.

’Damn it, I should have paid more attention to these things.’

Now he would have to use what he had on hand.
