Chapter 90: 90 | Introduction

"Don’t worry. We’ll take care of you properly."

Andrew nodded with a smile. "Thank you."

Principal Constant looked pleased. He clapped his hands once. "Well, looks like you’ve gotten to know each other." He rubbed his forehead with a dramatic sigh. "I’ll take my leave now. I’ve still got mountains of academy files, reports to organize, documents to sign. Being principal gets more troublesome every year."

John chuckled. "Take care, Principal." The other four waved as well. "Take care, sir."

The principal gave a final nod, turned, and left the training hall. The heavy metal door shut behind him, and silence followed.

John turned back to Andrew. "Alright, let me introduce everyone properly." Andrew nodded, though he noticed the other four members staring at him strangely. Clearly, they’d all seen the handshake exchange, and they were shocked Andrew hadn’t even flinched.

John pointed toward a giant man standing near the back.

Andrew’s eyes widened a little. The guy was a mountain. Nearly three meters tall, built like a wall of solid steel, with muscles that looked like they could crush boulders. The giant grinned, wide and friendly.

John jerked a thumb at him. "This ugly bastard here is Michael."

Michael let out a booming laugh. "Oi!"

John ignored him. "He’s our frontliner. Our tank."

Michael crossed his massive arms, looking proud. "My name’s Michael. I’m the team Guardian." He grinned. "My job’s simple. Stand in front and get hit."

Andrew nodded politely. "Nice to meet you."

John pointed to the next man, who was the complete opposite. Slim, lean, with sharp features and round glasses resting on his nose. He stood about 1.8 meters tall and offered a polite smile as he extended his hand. "Hello. My name’s Klen." He adjusted his glasses. "I’m the mage. Basically, I stay very far away and throw dangerous things at our enemies."

Andrew chuckled. "Got it."

Then John turned toward the two women nearby. One immediately smiled brightly and waved with energy. The other remained completely still, her face unreadable. Andrew noticed the contrast right away—one warm and approachable, the other radiating cold.

John pointed at the cold one first. "She’s Lucy."

The woman stepped forward. She was athletic, with well-toned muscles visible beneath her fitted combat uniform, sharp eyes, and short silver hair tied back. She stared straight at Andrew and spoke flatly. "Hi. My name’s Lucy. I’m a warrior." She crossed her arms. "And unlike John, I don’t care who Principal Constant recommends. I judge people by what they can actually do."

The room went quiet. John sighed. "...And there she goes."

Andrew simply smiled. Interesting. This team wasn’t going to be boring at all.

Before the awkward silence could stretch too long, the final member stepped forward. Unlike Lucy’s icy presence, this woman radiated pure energy. A playful smile rested on her face, and her bright amber eyes held a mischievous spark that immediately put Andrew on alert. She had long crimson hair tied in a high ponytail, and where Lucy stood with disciplined posture, this one looked completely carefree.

She winked at Andrew. "Hi~" Her voice was sweet and teasing. "My name’s Jasmine." She placed a hand on her hip with pride. "I’m the team Berserker."

Andrew nodded politely. "Nice to meet—"

Before he could finish, Jasmine stepped right up and hugged him. Andrew’s body locked up. He felt the warmth of her pressing against him, the softness against his chest. She laughed brightly and squeezed tighter. "Welcome to the team. It’s been so boring surrounded by all these dull men..." She shot a glance at Lucy. "...and boring women."

Lucy’s eyebrow twitched. Jasmine ignored her completely, her smile widening. "But now that you’re here, things are finally going to get interesting."

Andrew stood stiff as a board. He was honestly flustered.

The strange part was how casual she acted about it, like they were old friends, or maybe even the same gender.

The complete lack of hesitation, the way she clung to him... it threw him off. Still, he forced himself to stay calm.

After a few seconds,

Jasmine finally let go.

Andrew cleared his throat, feeling a little awkward. "As you all know, my name’s Andrew."

He rubbed the back of his neck.

"And... I’m currently a Level 7 Bronze Ultra. Haven’t awakened a class yet." He shrugged. "As for my talent, it’s an E-Rank thing called Zoomable Eyes." He pointed at his own eyes.

"Basically, I can see almost a kilometer ahead."

Silence. Then the team’s faces lit up.

Michael stomped forward and slapped Andrew on the back, hard enough to make him stumble.

"Perfect!" Michael grinned.

Klen adjusted his glasses with a thoughtful nod. "That’s actually very useful."

John folded his arms, looking satisfied. "We’ve needed a scout for a long time."

Andrew blinked. John gestured around. "Our team setup has always had a hole. We’ve got a tank." Michael flexed proudly.

"A mage." Klen raised a hand. "Two close-combat fighters." Lucy crossed her arms; Jasmine winked. "And a damage dealer." John pointed at himself. "But what we’ve always been missing is reconnaissance."

Klen nodded. "With your talent, we can scout dangerous zones before charging in. Saves us from stumbling into monster nests blind." Michael laughed. "No more surprises."

Andrew smiled. "Sounds like I can actually help."

Then John’s expression shifted. He narrowed his eyes and scanned Andrew from head to toe. "Hold on. Where’s your equipment?" Andrew paused. John went on, "Your weapon? Armor? Combat gear?" The others suddenly noticed too. Andrew was just in ordinary academy clothes—no armor, no knife, no combat suit. Nothing.

Andrew coughed lightly. He’d completely forgotten and it was Monica’s fault. But he didn’t mind in the slightest. She was crazy.

But he kept his voice casual, like he’d planned it all.

"I only got my license recently. Just yesterday, actually. Thought I’d buy weapons on the way to the dimensional zone."

Lucy snorted. Her cold stare landed on him. "You’re not even properly prepared, and you expect to join a dimensional expedition?" Her voice dropped colder. "I don’t think you’re taking this seriously at all."

The air chilled, but John cut in sharply. "That’s enough, Lucy." She clicked her tongue and looked away.
