SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer
Chapter 33: The Legacy of An Immortal
Before they moved onwards, Kotil had made a decision.
The fifteen people who escaped from the prime demons would be left behind in the tunnel.
They were too out of it to be of any help.
Taking them along would only burden the group.
He had advised them to leave the domain as soon as they could.
All they had to do was go the opposite direction of the team’s path. The tunnel was one way, after all.
They had thanked him as he left, and the group moved onward.
Before they left, Kotil had glanced at Neo.
Neo didn’t know what that glance meant.
No one was in the mood to relax.
They had finally realized the true dangers of this place.
When everyone thought the tunnel would have no end.
And they would walk on forever.
Something revealed itself before them.
It was the literal light at the end of the tunnel.
They walked out into open air.
It was a change that defied the senses.
The endless gloomy tunnel had led into a scenery of immaculate elegance.
There was only one word to describe this place they ended up in.
Perfection.
The sky glowed with soft, beautiful colors. One unlike the normal sky they were used to.
The trees that grew here were unlike any they had seen before.
The vegetation was lush and beautiful.
Pleasing to the eyes.
Glowing with resplendent colors.
Every tree was a work of art.
Birds twittered, and small animals moved through the brush.
An unexpected sight in the true outlands.
There had never been any sighting of animals in the true outlands.
But this place really couldn’t be referred to as the true outlands.
It was a domain.
In a sense, it was a world of its own.
Everything here followed a certain order, but it retained a natural rhythm that was in tune with the world around it.
The tenseness in everyone’s body eased unconsciously.
There was only one thing that could do this without any technique being activated. A formation.
A natural formation.
Neo had been doubting if this domain was naturally formed before.
Now, he confirmed his suspicion.
The domain was nuatural.
Yes.
But that was before it was moulded by the hands of whichever immortal once occupied it.
This natural formation was something arranged by an immortal.
Guiding the natural essence of the world to do their bidding.
It sounded the same as what any formation did, but it was far beyond an ordinary formation by many orders of magnitude.
He wondered how a domain like this had ended up in the true outlands.
It looked they were the only ones there.
When that thought just settled in everyone’s mind.
There was a quake.
It startled the animals, and shook everyone out of their relaxed mood.
From all sides, entrances began to connect to this open space.
Humans and demons walked out from different entrances.
There were the adventurers who should have followed behind their group. They came out of another entrance. They didn’t look to have encountered much trouble.
There was the military of the Immortal World. They seemed to have been in a lot of battles, but they still looked in good shape.
There were a scattered few humans from the other powers too. They walked out from different entrances.
Then, there were the demons.
They outnumbered the humans by more than two times.
There was the demon army to one side.
There was another group of demons, their equivalent of adventurers, no doubt. They too were on another side.
Then there were the prime demons.
More than a thousand of them.
The entrance through which the group entered the domain was truly special.
It led straight to the heart of the domain.
Their entrance into this place seemed to have activated something important.
Everyone in the domain was gathered here at this moment.
Outside the domain, all the entrances closed and vanished.
It was like they never existed in the first place.
Those who had been watching the entrances knew that something important had happened inside the domain.
They awaited whatever news would be brought out of there.
In the open space.
All the gathered people observed each other.
There was a great distance between the different groups.
With their cultivation, it might not be much trouble to cross it.
However, they waited.
There was nothing in sight for them to fight over.
Most important of all. This was a place that didn’t allow rashness.
Patience and caution was the right move.
A Bell rang once.
The sound reverberated across the open space.
"Welcome to my ***** Combat Legacy."
The name was heard, but it immediately disappeared from their mind.
No one could retain the name in their mind.
"Only the one who inherits my legacy is worthy of knowing my name. My legacy is not a test of cultivation or character. My legacy is designed to chose the greatest combat genius, and polish them to perfection."
Everyone listened intently.
Those words were calm and unbothered.
"All of you are of the F-Rank, and within its limit. There will be no unfair advantage."
No unfair advantage?
Neo looked at the people around him.
Even Raela was beyond him in cultivation.
"In this Combat Legacy of mine, your cultivation is not needed."
The moment those words were said, everyone felt their cultivation disappear.
The humans felt the essence leave their bodies.
The demons felt their bodies weaken.
All of them, demon or human felt the absence of their great strength.
At that moment, they were no different from the most ordinary mortal.
Almost everyone panicked.
This was their essence cultivation and the great strength of their body.
One gained over years.
Years of toil and sweat.
A strength built on mountains of resources.
How could they not be hysterical.
The voice sounded again.
"Fear not. Your cultivation will be returned to you. For my Combat Legacy, everyone will start at the same point. You will all recieve twenty-five points of minor origin."
Everyone felt something new descend into their bodies.
It was different from anything they had ever encountered before.
It was superior.
"With this minor origin, you can do anything you want. This minor origin can’t be regenerated like your essence. The only way to gain more of it is to advance in my Combat Legacy."
Everyone was getting a feel of the minor origin that settled into their bodies.
Even the slowest person had caught on with one simple fact by now.
This was the legacy of an immortal rank being.
Surprisingly, it didn’t seem to discriminate.
Whether it be demons or humans.
It welcomed them all.
Although, Neo wasn’t so sure of what race this immortal rank being belonged to.
Neo, who was someone from up there, found the abilities of this being wondrous.
Perfectly removing someone’s cultivation. This was different from crippling a person’s cultivation.
It was for more delicate.
Then, he went on and replaced it with minor origin.
Neo knew what minor origin was.
When immortals cultivated. Essence was converted into origin.
Origin was the very essence of one’s being.
Origin itself was too powerful for even SSS-Rank cultivators to accept into their being.
This minor origin was origin that had been greatly diluted.
And he placed it into everyone here with ease.
This was no newbie immortal rank being.
This wasn’t even some experienced immortal.
This was an old monster.
One far deep into the immortal ranks.
Someone at the very peak.
"Now. Affirm your participation by registering. This is your chance to back out. However, before you do so. There is something you should know. My Legacy is absolutely safe. There will be no death."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"You have reached this place. Whether it be by your luck or strength. You deserve to leave here alive, and with some rewards."
A screen appeared in front of each person’s eyes.
Visible only to the person it appeared in front of.
It had two line of words displayed on it.
Name and Rank.
The Rank had none in front of it.
The name didn’t seem to be asking them.
Neo saw the beginning of a name he had discarded being written down.
His will rose.
Every part of his being moved to erase it, even if he had no idea how.
The reaction was immediate.
The name was cleared, and the name Neo was written in its place.
"I have said all there is that needs to be said. I await the greatest combat genius to rise from this cradle."
The immortal rank being seemed to go silent after those words.
No one backed out of the legacy.
The promise of a participation reward, and the guarantee of leaving here alive was a great motivation.
After the registration, the screen in front of their eyes had a change to it.
There were some new additions to the display.
It displayed a ranking of one to ten.
All the numbers had the word empty in front of it.
Then under it was the line displaying one’s name and their rank next to it.
Neo felt a sudden shift in his surroundings.
Everything and everyone had disappeared.
He stood alone now.
Under a sky that was gloomier than the one of the true outlands.
