The quake resounded not only throughout the hall.

The extent of its reach went far beyond just this small space.

The open air space, where everyone who had entered the legacy was.

The true outlands.

The Outlands.

The mortal world.

The Immortal World.

The Demon World.

This was a quake that extended to everywhere it could possibly reach.

*

All who took part in the legacy remained there in the open air space.

The legacy was no doubt about to conclude.

They waited for the immortal to send everyone out of the place.

Kotil thought back to the hall where the top ten had gathered.

His mind had already gone over the fight he had with the prime demon.

Maybe there was one thing or another he could have done to change the outcome.

It no longer mattered.

That was now a past that was behind him.

He saw the prime demon appear among the ranks of its kind.

It appeared right in front of them all.

There was only one person left in the legacy now.

That young man.

Neo.

The name still remained first on the rankings.

The other names of the top ten had been grayed out.

It seemed the greatest combat genius had been chosen.

He had noticed the young man when he had used that unconventional technique in the tunnel.

The technique that had somewhat calmed those people who had encountered the prime demons.

He had only wondered why a young man like him would learn such a technique.

At that time, he hadn’t thought of him much further than that.

But seeing him in that place.

Contending for the inheritance of this legacy.

Kotil had been shocked.

But he had pushed it all out of his mind.

That hadn’t been the time to let his thoughts wander.

Now, that he could very much spare the thought.

The shock he felt at that time remained.

It was even greater than before.

He sighed.

His thoughts shifted.

BOOM!!!

Kotil felt his balance shift.

He almost lost his footing.

Many people hadn’t been as sure footed as him.

All around him, people fell.

Hitting the floor with painful thuds.

The quake hadn’t been something subtle.

It came with a violent shock.

The beautiful sky of the open air space flickered.

It went dark all of a sudden.

Then the sky seemed to take on a new change, turning cloudy.

BOOM!!!

BOOM!!!

BOOM!!!

The quake didn’t stop.

It became more intense.

The frequency increased.

Kotil fell.

His hands hit the floor, as he supported himself on his knees.

No one could remain standing here.

He heaved.

The quake continued.

He felt like his organs were being crushed.

He could not circulate his essence.

The urge to throw up from the vertigo overwhelmed him.

He forced his head up to look at the sky.

An action that aggravated his nausea.

He threw up a mouthful of bloody contents.

He had no idea what they were.

Pieces of his internal organs?

It mattered not.

What he saw just now had overwhelmed him.

Beyond what anything else could.

The sky had torn apart.

He had glimpsed a darkness where the sky had once been.

He saw the sky fall from its great height.

Large pieces of it rushing at him.

It was crushing.

His soul.

His body.

His mind.

Every part of him felt the crushing weight.

This was something he would never forget.

*

Kha Ha Ti looked up at the sky that fell towards him.

He felt the crushing weight that enveloped him.

He saw his death coming at him with his eyes wide open.

If that sky fell.

He knew he would die.

There was no disputing that fact.

If not for the immortal saving his mind life.

He knew he would have died a few moments ago.

When that human had slashed his sword at him.

Before he had been eliminated.

He had felt the pressure.

It cornered him from every angle.

No matter what he could have done at that moment, it was certain death.

There was no counter he could think of.

He would have died.

Cleanly.

Sliced into the smallest pieces possible.

He had wondered what sort of monster that human was.

He, Kha Ha Ti, was a prime demon.

Not just any prime demon.

He was the best of the best in his generation.

And he had almost been one shotted by a human.

He kept his gaze on the sky that fell.

As it descended to crush him, along with everyone here.

Unlike a human, his body was strong.

He could witness how his death would occur.

A privilege many here couldn’t afford.

He wondered if the immortal would be able to save him this time around.

He hadn’t died to the human.

He hadn’t died a warrior’s death.

Would he now die crushed like a bug under the weight of the sky?

But it seemed it wasn’t Kha Ha Ti’s time to die yet.

He might not have been praying to the immortal, but the immortal fulfilled his wish to live.

To one day die a warrior’s death, if that be his fate.

The sky that had been falling disappeared.

The darkness which had settled above them like a gaping maw disappeared.

A new sky took its place.

Beautiful.

Just like the previous one.

*

Samath looked at the new sky that appeared above them.

The quake had stopped.

Before everything had calmed just now, she had glimpsed the darkness that had appeared in place of the sky that fell.

It was not an ordinary darkness.

It was a vast emptiness.

One that consumed everything, yet remained empty.

It was an emptiness that almost consumed her soul.

She was jolted out of that state by the formation.

The military had activated a formation, the moment the first quake occurred.

It was an automatic activation, triggered by the perceived danger.

She was the highest ranking officer here, and the leader of this expedition.

She couldn’t allow herself the leisure of having her thoughts wander, or her soul captured.

She and everyone in her military group continued to reinforce the formation.

Their essence was being drawn by the formation to power itself.

The formation was working at its highest output.

She glanced at the falling sky again.

She wasn’t sure if the formation could save them, but it was better than nothing.

Then everything became calm.

The quake disappeared.

The sky stopped falling.

And everything was back to normal again.

Everything looked unchanged, except for the people who had just gone through hell and back again.

Samath waited.

She didn’t deactivate the formation.

Everything looked good.

But she waited.

A wise decision it turned out to be.

The quake returned with even greater force.

It was the sky sundering before.

Now, even the earth could not escape.

Massive cracks spread across the ground.

Trees, birds, animals.

Humans, demons.

At that moment, all of them knew true fear.

This paradise which was once pristine was now going through an apocalypse.

*

Did cultivators pray?

Raela didn’t know.

But at this moment, she prayed to the heavens.

She had thought the immortal already had everything settled and back to normal.

Everything had returned to normal after all.

But now.

Looking at the ground that had cracks running through everywhere.

The sky that was falling.

And the quake that had become even greater.

She prayed.

Fervently.

Her thoughts turned to the Immortal World brat.

Was he still alive?

Her eyes had been glued to the rankings.

She had watched as only his name remained.

It was almost shining, when compared to the other names that had been grayed out.

Had he been with the immortal when all this occured?

Had he been about to be crowned the inheritor of this legacy, when the immortal was attacked?

She had no doubt that the immortal was the one being attacked.

Surely, no one would target mortals like them.

At least no one this powerful would target mere F-Rank cultivators.

She prayed to survive this one.

She was never entering the true outlands again.

Her thoughts turned again.

If she and everyone here were suffering like this.

How would the Immortal World brat even survive this clash between immortals.

He would have been blasted to smithereens in their very first move.

Looking at the cracks that widened with every moment that passed.

It didn’t look like her fate would be any better.

*

Mia and her team huddled together in one place.

They stayed as close as they could to each other.

Their mind wasn’t on anything else.

It was just to survive this together.

All of them leaving here alive.

Sofia tried to call up the screen that appeared since the legacy started.

But nothing appeared before her eyes again.

Nothing.

Her vision had returned to normal.

The way it had always been, before this legacy.

The immortal seemed to have retracted their powers.

She tried again and again, but nothing happened.

Her huddled form curled up even further.

Shuddering.

It seemed someone wouldn’t be leaving here together with them.
