SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer
Chapter 60: An Exploration (2)
No one said anything as Neo sat at the table.
More and more people joined them at the table.
Taking their seat in preparation for the main point of this gathering.
They didn’t know who Neo was, but no one said anything.
They could see that he was indeed qualified to sit here with them.
"Kotil!"
A voice uncaring for any decorum broke the silence.
"What took you so long? Did you have to make us all wait for you?"
A woman among those seated made her discontent known.
It was a discontent everyone shared.
But maybe nowhere near hers.
"I was carrying out a rescue mission."
Kotil’s reply was simple and direct.
He felt no need to apologize to anyone.
Everyone accepted his excuse, but not this woman.
"I didnt know a simple rescue mission could take so much time. What happened? Were you fighting limit breakers?"
Kotil nodded.
Now, everyone’s attention was piqued.
How did a rescue mission had to do with fighting limit breakers.
"I almost ended up dead."
The gathering had been put aside to hear this unexpected tale.
"How did you almost die? A single limit breaker shouldn’t be so hard to deal with, to the point of almost dying. Were they above the first limit break?"
The woman was intrigued now.
"It was a strange creature, and it was not above the first limit break, but it wasn’t so weak."
Kotil continued.
"I could have dealt with it, but another strange creature of the first limit break appeared at the last moment.
"If I didn’t die, I would have at the very least been seriously injured, if not for my benefactor here."
He gestured at Neo.
Everyone was forced to turn their attention to this young man that had appeared out of nowhere.
"You saved Kotil here."
The woman said.
She stood up.
"I should thank you, and I no doubt owe you one. You are the reason I can still see his ugly mug now."
Some of them snickered at her words.
Kotil wasn’t bothered by them, however.
Neo looked between the two.
What an interesting relationship.
"It was just a coincidence. He also saved my friends, too. There is nothing to owe."
The woman didn’t seem to agree.
She wanted to say something else, when she was cut off.
"We came here to discuss how we are going to explore this domain we are gathered here for. Someone here called this gathering to tell us what they know. I think it is time they speak."
The woman hissed.
"Tukitan, I now see why your powers have to band together just to have a voice."
Her words were scathing.
Some laughed at it.
But the people she scolded weren’t so pleased.
"Suren, just because your family produced two limit breakers in the past two years doesn’t mean you can look down on others. You all are simply lucky."
The woman gave him a derisive look.
"Is that so? Have we also been lucky for the past hundreds of years?"
BANG!
Someone hit the table.
It was the man from Raela’s family.
"That’s enough. We called this gathering for a certain purpose. We shall get to it now."
The promise of business was enough to quell scathing tongues, and bruised egos.
"The information about this domain came from an elite group of adventurers. They are small elite team of limit breakers. They have no affiliation with any of the families or powers."
Everyone paid attention now.
The people the information came from were powerful enough. They won’t have any need to give false or pointless information.
"We are not the only ones they have shared this information with for a price."
He let them know that the information hadn’t come for free.
"Entering this domain, we will surely meet people from other powers that aren’t even here. Also there will be people at a higher limit break."
A higher limit break?
What were they going to do now?
Should they call their people at a higher limit break too.
"You don’t have to worry about them. We already have our people there."
Everyone not from the families cursed in their minds.
Of course, they would take a good advantage of the information before sharing it with the others.
They should inform their own people too.
The Common Net was a really wonderful gift from the Immortal World.
If not for it, how much more would they lose.
They would have had to send someone back just to go inform their people.
"This domain produces a substance that the Adventurer Guild is buying at a very high price."
He looked at everyone, they all had their attention focused on him.
"But that is not why this gathering was called. If It was just to make a little profit, it is definitely not worth it."
Everyone had the same thought. The urgency with which the gathering was called, didn’t match something that simple.
And he didn’t disappoint them with his next words.
"We have been making deep explorations into this domain, and we have noticed something important."
He was being deliberate with his words, but no one rushed him.
"There are some places in the domain, where this substance can be used. It can be fed into these places, to upgrade the substance even further. Then we can use this upgraded substance to go even deeper into the domain."
After he said this, everyone’s thoughts turned to the implications of all that he just said.
"You mean to tell us that this domain has an even deeper layer than you have explored."
A woman spoke.
She was from the military.
"Exactly. This deeper layer is what we are going to explore. No one knows how great the danger will be. But with all of us together, we should be able to gain something."
The man was selling them an uncertain hope.
But explorations like this, whether they yielded anything in return, was almost always a matter of luck.
"Samath, your special squad has all sorts of formations to deal with explorations like this. We will be depending on you."
Kotil said to the woman from the military.
