Star Ship Girl Era: My Shipgirls Are Too Overpowered

Chapter 383: Reunion With The Triplets

The journey back to Sanctuary Ardent was much quieter than the trip to Veyra Nine.

Most of the recovered prisoners spent the first jump inside Neris’s medical transports, where Vaela and Doctor Marr worked through the worst cases first.

The people who were healthy enough to move freely were given food, clean clothes, and access to a limited communication channel so they could speak with anyone Eirenne had already confirmed was waiting for them at the sanctuary.

That quickly became the busiest channel in the fleet.

Aurelian heard parts of it whenever Eirenne brought up a medical report.

Some conversations lasted only a few minutes because neither side knew what to say after so many years apart. Others continued until medical staff had to remind the patients to rest.

Serena Hal spoke with her father for almost an hour.

Aurelian did not listen.

He only checked that the connection remained stable, then left the rest to them.

The Black Crown completed the final jump several hours later.

Sanctuary Ardent appeared ahead, still surrounded by Solenne’s remaining ships and the Arcturus support convoy.

Repair craft moved around the damaged mountain structure while temporary shield emitters covered the sections that had not yet been restored.

The western shield had improved while Aurelian was gone.

Eirenne updated the numbers as the fleet approached.

"Seventy-one percent stable output. The eastern section is at fifty-four percent, and three secondary batteries have returned to service."

"Main weapons?"

"Still unusable."

"Expected."

Astra looked toward the docking display.

"The civilian council is waiting."

Aurelian saw the crowd before the Black Crown even reached its berth.

The repaired eastern arrival hall was already full.

Hundreds of people had gathered behind the security line, though Astercourt had at least managed to keep the docking route clear this time.

Rhoswen looked at the crowd through the external feed.

"They did this again."

"They are waiting for family," Astra said.

Rhoswen became quieter.

The Black Crown docked first.

Neris’s medical transports followed.

Aurelian considered entering through another route and letting the rescued people have the hall to themselves, but Mirelle sent him a short message before he could decide.

Come through the main entrance.

No explanation.

Aurelian suspected there was no point arguing.

He left the Black Crown with Astra and Rhoswen while Eirenne remained connected to both the fleet and sanctuary systems.

The doors opened into the arrival hall.

People looked toward him immediately, but the attention did not stay on Aurelian for long.

The first medical transport docked behind the flagship.

Vaela stepped through with several doctors.

Then the survivors began coming out.

Some walked normally.

Others needed support.

Several were pushed on medical beds, while the weakest remained aboard until the hall became less crowded.

The people waiting behind the security line began calling names almost at once.

"Serena!"

A woman near the front of the first group stopped.

For several seconds she simply stood there.

Then she saw the older man Aurelian remembered from before they left.

Her father had already started moving toward her.

Security officers opened the line without being told.

Serena crossed the remaining distance and held onto him.

Neither spoke.

They did not need to.

Similar reunions began around the hall.

Some ended happily.

Others did not.

Several rescued prisoners returned to discover that the person they remembered was still sleeping in the reserve halls. That at least meant there was hope.

Others received worse news.

Aurelian stayed near the edge of the hall rather than standing in the middle of it.

This was not his moment.

Mirelle found him there.

"Two hundred and seventeen," she said.

"Yes."

"Vaela told us."

Aurelian looked toward the survivors.

"We found records for more."

"I know."

"Sixteen were transferred elsewhere. Thirty-eight were moved to other facilities before that. There are still people we haven’t found."

Mirelle nodded.

"Then we remember that two hundred and seventeen came back today."

Aurelian looked at her.

She seemed to understand what he was thinking.

"You commanders have a bad habit," she continued. "You look at what is still missing before you allow yourself to look at what you saved."

Rhoswen stood a few steps away.

"I have told him something similar."

"You usually say it while threatening to make me sleep."

"That is because you also need sleep."

Mirelle looked between them.

"Then I agree with her."

Aurelian decided he was badly outnumbered.

The reunions continued for another hour before medical teams began moving the rescued survivors toward prepared rooms.

Aurelian finally returned toward the command levels.

He had almost reached the main lift when Eirenne appeared beside him.

"You have visitors."

"Meriel?"

"She is still here."

"Then who?"

Eirenne’s expression held the faint amusement she had developed whenever she knew something Aurelian didn’t.

"Three Morozovas."

Aurelian stopped.

Rhoswen nearly walked into him.

"The triplets?"

"Yes."

Astra looked toward Eirenne.

"When did they arrive?"

"While we were at Veyra Nine. Their shuttle came with a small Morozova technical delivery authorized through the support route already being used by Yelena."

That made sense.

Yelena had already helped with engineering information and blueprints before. If the Morozova family wanted to send parts without making a political show of it, placing them inside a small technical shipment was exactly how they would do it.

Aurelian continued toward the lift.

"Where are they?"

"Medical observation level."

He stopped again.

Rhoswen smiled.

"They have been here for a few hours and already found the strange ancient machine."

"They did not find it," Eirenne said. "Doctor Marr invited them."

"Why?"

Eirenne opened the message waiting for him.

The Human Continuance Matrix had completed its first treatment successfully.

Before Doctor Marr approved any commander-specific recovery program, she wanted more baseline data from healthy young Humans who had not spent centuries in preservation.

The triplets happened to arrive at the right time.

None of the testing involved treatment.

Only compatibility scans.

Aurelian understood the reason, though he suspected Doctor Marr had also chosen people she trusted not to panic if the machine produced unusual results.

They reached the medical level several minutes later.

Yelena was the first person Aurelian saw.

She sat outside the matrix examination chamber with Mirei and Katsura beside her.

All three stood when he entered.

Yelena looked him over once.

"You look tired."

Aurelian stared at her.

Rhoswen immediately pointed toward Yelena.

"See?"

"I have been awake for a while."

Mirei smiled.

"That is not the same as looking rested."

Katsura nodded.

"Not even close."

Aurelian looked toward Astra.

She offered no help.

"This is becoming repetitive."

"Because everyone keeps reaching the same conclusion," Eirenne said.

Aurelian changed the subject.

"When did you leave Morozova territory?"

"After Yelena received the material request for Helion," Mirei answered. "We were already preparing a technical package when the news about Sanctuary Ardent reached us."

Yelena continued.

"The family approved a small delivery. Shield-control materials, precision fabrication parts, and several components Helion could not currently produce."

"Useful."

"We thought you might say that."

Aurelian looked between the three of them.

"And you came personally."

Katsura shrugged slightly.

"You found an ancient Human sanctuary, fought the Compact twice, discovered tens of thousands of survivors, and apparently uncovered a medical system nobody has seen in centuries."

Mirei added, "You expected us to stay home?"

"That would have been reasonable."

All three looked at him.

Aurelian decided not to defend the statement.

Doctor Marr emerged from the examination room before the conversation could continue.

"Good. You are here."

Aurelian looked toward her.

"Eirenne said you were running baseline scans."

"Yes. Healthy subjects, similar ages, no preservation history, and no known serious medical conditions. The triplets also give us something useful because they have very similar genetics."

That made the choice much more sensible.

"Results?"

"Interesting."

Yelena looked toward the room.

"That is what she said before refusing to explain anything until you arrived."

"Because the commander treatment section still requires your approval before I open the deeper records," Doctor Marr said.

Aurelian entered with the others.

The matrix had prepared three separate comparison reports.

They did not claim the triplets would suddenly become stronger.

They did not offer any dangerous inherited treatment.

Instead, the system had tested how each body would respond to several safe adaptation paths developed during the later years of Sanctuary Ardent.

The results were different despite the triplets’ close genetic connection.

Doctor Marr opened Yelena’s report first.

"Highest compatibility is with high-load neural stabilization and technical-focus endurance."

Rhoswen frowned.

"Technical-focus endurance sounds made up."

"It means her body handles long periods of fine concentration unusually well but builds nerve fatigue faster afterward."

Yelena looked unsurprised.

"That explains several things."

Aurelian remembered how long she could sit over engineering plans without moving.

"What would treatment do?"

"Nothing dramatic," Doctor Marr replied. "Better recovery after long technical work, reduced hand tremor under fatigue, and slightly improved resistance to neural overload."

Yelena looked toward Aurelian.

"Useful."

"Still only a scan."

"I know."

Mirei’s results were next.

Her strongest response was to metabolic balance and environmental adaptation, particularly treatments designed for people moving repeatedly between ships, stations, and different gravity levels.

Katsura responded most strongly to muscular recovery and reflex stabilization.
