Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1097: Chapter 203: Planet Computer
"Big Brother, we promised to explore the stars and seas together, why did you abandon me?" Red Flower Demon lamented.
"Second Brother, do you know my name in this game is ’Thunder King’? I’m not messing around offline with electrotherapy or fixing Implantation Chambers just to fool around with you," Thunder King teased.
"There’s no future in being a Prosthetic Doctor!"
"And do you know what our NPC Boss used to do? Aren’t you always bragging that Old G did your surgery?"
"But this profession can’t advance to Tier 3!"
"That’s not certain. I heard that when Cyber Space opens up, there’s a chance for AI, Hacker, and Neural Editor professions to advance to Tier 3. How do you know I can’t?"
"You’ve got nothing, they’re dealing with software, you’re dealing with human hardware."
"It’s hard to say, it’s hard to say. This game is different from traditional games, playing it well requires some insight. I ask you, when software updates, doesn’t hardware need updating too? The process of Consciousness Upload, doesn’t it need someone to perform a surgery?"
Thunder King mystically said:
"Maybe, I can become the first player to advance Prosthetic Doctor to Tier 3, and by that time, I can switch players’ professions, directly converting from Carbon-Based System to Information System. What I earn would be completely on a different level than your lousy stars and seas."
"Yeah, Old Demon just loves making grand promises," a nearby player joked.
"Pie King."
"Pie Emperor."
"Pie Saint!"
Red Flower Demon angrily retorted, "Show some respect, I’m the Captain here, and you were all recruited by me. Watch out, I might just kick you all out."
"Oh."
"Oh."
"Oh."
Seeing nobody paying attention, Red Flower Demon couldn’t help but sigh: "It’s a pity my good brother Big Muscle Dominator went to marry on Planet of the Great Apes, otherwise we’d dual wield swords, the duo, who else would matter!"
Thunder King comforted:
"That’s why you should find your true Second Brother, not just randomly pick someone as your Second Brother. Not everyone can become a Plane."
"..."
Nearby, Jes and DK41’s ears perked up.
The Calamity Warriors don’t seem very harmonious internally, with frequent cases of usurpation. It seems less like an army stamped with a Thought Steel Seal and more like an Interstellar Mercenary group, even more undisciplined than mercenaries.
How exactly does the Master of Calamities control his subordinates?
"Oh, arrived."
As the Starship entered the atmosphere outside the Interstellar Fortress, Red Flower Demon felt it unfortunate, as these two NPCs just weren’t strong enough, not triggering any quests on the journey.
"We can only take you to the Interstellar Fortress, later the outer defenses of this atmospheric layer will close, and someone will use the teleportation feature of the Interstellar Fortress to send you into the planet’s interior, to meet our Old G, oh no, Boss G."
Jes nodded, suddenly feeling inspired, tentatively saying: "This Old Demon warrior, how about exchanging contact details?"
Red Flower Demon instantly perked up, internally rejoicing that all its flattery during the journey wasn’t in vain, finally gaining enough favor to unlock a quest precondition. It just didn’t know what quest this Turtle might offer, hopefully not another envoy mission like Big Muscle Dominator’s to Turtle Planet.
...
After the players bid farewell, Bean Sprouts, formerly Director Du’s bionic secretary, was responsible for reception as the legion’s secretary. Since it was Boss’s request, she personally took charge of the reception.
’Bionic Man? This level bionic doesn’t seem like something from the Black Market.’
Jes, coming this far, had broadened his horizons. It initially thought the Calamity Corps was a half-mechanical legion, but inside, it discovered half-mechanical warriors were just a part of it; Carbon-Based, Pure Mechanical, Energy Creatures, Information Lifeforms—all were present, leaving it increasingly confused.
’Is this not a single force, but a group of forces?’
When it saw a Mirta with pointed ears, its surprise peaked.
Bean Sprouts frowned slightly, global large-scale production now prevails, the secrecy wasn’t tight enough, which led to this encounter, hastily correcting:
"This is Mr. Cha, especially hired to oversee post-war reconstruction." She cast a wary glance at the other.
Chawei, seeing outsiders arrive, paused, then sighed silently, saying nothing, nodded, and left with a pile of technical documents.
Since Fang Yi abducted Chawei from the Mechanical Planet, this period had been Chawei’s busiest.
As one of the only two Tier 3 Mechanicians, he was now responsible for overseeing the construction of 50,000 Mechanical Cities while serving as a Mechanician mentor, running across the planet, tasked with converting players’ professions.
Since the civilization opted for the Mechanician Civilization route, guiding most players to transition to Mechanician was essential.
Coupled with the majority of players’ needs for city-building and force-formation, the Mechanician profession had become the hottest.
"Wonder when I can meet the Master of Calamities. But before that, can I pay a visit to Mr. G first?" Jes cautiously asked.
Feeling it was better to say hi to an old acquaintance first, since it’s unfamiliar with the Master of Calamities.
Bean Sprouts cast an odd look at the other.
"Let me take you to see Mr. G first, let’s have him decide."
Bean Sprouts gestured, and soon, two silver glimmers descended from the sky, landing under the two.
"Is this the Tier 3 Energy Skateboard?" Turtle Jes exclaimed.
"Yes, just a newly produced sample, very handy for transportation, can directly enter Sub-Light-speed mode."
Both stepped onto the skateboard, a layer of silver light quickly enveloped their feet, appearing to coat their skin in silver. This was the special feature of the silver skateboard—it wasn’t an Energy Shield but a layer of liquid silver energy membrane. This energy membrane could withstand light-speed pressure briefly.
The two instantly transformed into a beam of light, disappearing into the vacuum.
The skateboard adopted a guiding mode, requiring no control, and under Sub-Light-speed mode, Jes couldn’t see the surroundings at all, whispering to the AI generator in his arms:
"Did you capture anything?"
Being a Tier 3 AI, its thought process operates at light-speed mode, roughly scanning some things via its receiver.
"Some massive, completely mechanical cities rising from the ground, very unique cities with strong computational power, robust defense, and many specialized buildings."
Jes paused, saying:
"These sound more like cities, but you’re describing them like military fortresses?"
"Not exactly military fortresses, more like special-purpose experimental bases."
"Experimental bases? Experimenting on what?"
Unfortunately, before DK51 had a chance to reply, Bean Sprouts’ voice cut in.
"We’ve arrived."
Jes sighed, realizing the other didn’t want it to discern too much, thus deliberately using Sub-Light-speed skateboards for transportation.
The two reached the ’Wind Gorge’ perimeter, next to the Advanced Energy Synthesis Factory’s exterior, where a gigantic ’computational system’ soared.
It resembled a mountain constructed from tens of thousands of high-level computer labs, with countless data pipelines appearing intermittently at the information and physical layers.
Some data pipelines even manifested visibly, extending from one end of the atmosphere to the horizon’s other side, branching in many places and descending into the Mechanical Cities.
DK51’s emotion module usually operated at the lowest energy-consuming sleep mode, but now, its Graphics Card suddenly trembled, emitting a data flow with huge fluctuations—this stream quickly transformed into emotions like desire, envy, and astonishment.
It spontaneously produced a Holographic Projection, dumbfoundedly gazing at this ’mountain of computer rooms’, incredulously saying:
"Planet Computer!?"
