Chapter 1610 - 1584: Misunderstood Intentions

The crowd knew there was no more drama to watch, so they all left, leaving Wei Wenbin standing there alone.

This manager position was hard-earned, how could he just give it up?

Suddenly, Wei Wenbin thought of a solution and took out his phone to make a call.

Zhang Hua, who was still shaken up, saw his cousin’s call and felt a surge of anger.

"You little brat, you still have the nerve to call me? You got into such big trouble outside, you should deal with it yourself. I almost got dragged into your mess, you know?"

Zhang Hua also launched into a tirade against his cousin.

If it had been the old Wei Wenbin, he’d have fired back long ago, but now he was asking for help; he had no choice but to endure it.

"Cousin, I’m sorry, I don’t know how things turned out this way. I genuinely regret it so much right now."

Wei Wenbin said remorsefully.

"What good is your regret? Mr. Ye has already spoken, and I can’t do anything about it."

Zhang Hua sighed.

In fact, what he was saying was true. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help his cousin, but he simply couldn’t afford to offend Ye Chen.

"Cousin, you can’t just stand by and do nothing. You must find a way to help me. Besides, Mr. Ye wouldn’t care about someone as insignificant as me."

Wei Wenbin pleaded over the phone.

"Are you an idiot? I can’t believe you even thought of that. Though Mr. Ye doesn’t care about you, he knows everything about the company like the back of his hand. It seems like you won’t be satisfied until you drag me down with you."

Zhang Hua said irritably.

He couldn’t understand how his cousin could be as silly as a pig.

"Whatever, you have to help me here. I don’t want to work crammed in an office with those people."

Wei Wenbin started to act brazenly.

"Enough, I have things to do and no time to chat with you. You handle it yourself. If you want to stay, stay; if not, hand in your resignation letter."

After saying that, Zhang Hua hung up the phone, giving his cousin no chance to speak further.

Wei Wenbin heard the dial tone from the other end and stood frozen in place.

He had pinned his hopes on his cousin, but it seemed like everything was truly over now.

After hanging up, Zhang Hua wore an expression of bitter disappointment.

His cousin was someone he had nurtured personally, and now, having offended Ye Chen, he was dismissed; reviving his career would be difficult.

However, Zhang Hua felt a bit relieved for his cousin; after all, Ye Chen had given him a way out, not directly firing him, which was quite merciful.

Ye Chen and Yang Tiantian walked inside, continuing to admire the flowers.

There was no denying it; the scenery here was truly enchanting, casting aside all unpleasant thoughts.

"Ye Chen, you didn’t see how sour that guy’s face was just now; it really cracked me up."

Yang Tiantian said to Ye Chen with a cheerful smile.

"Silly girl, sometimes you need to learn to be modest; you never know how influential the person in front of you might be."

Ye Chen said, looking at the girl.

"Like you?"

Yang Tiantian asked in return.

"What do you mean?"

Ye Chen didn’t answer, instead showing a puzzled expression.

"You have so many identities, yet you work as a deliveryman, leading people to mistakenly think you’re ordinary, when you’re actually a leader, right?"

Yang Tiantian voiced her thoughts, feeling quite amazed by the man in front of her.

"Hmm, I’m different from them."

Ye Chen thought for a moment and said.

"How are you different?"

Yang Tiantian posed a soul-searching question.

"Delivering food is my dream, just like being a nurse is your dream."

Ye Chen said with a smile, looking at the girl in front of him.

Yang Tiantian found this statement quite sensible; from Ye Chen, she had finally realized what having shared dreams meant.

"That’s right, we’re both people with dreams."

Yang Tiantian said with a smile.

Her smile gave off a warm feeling, very comforting.

Ye Chen suddenly spoke.

"Tiantian, what’s your plan next?"

He knew that such occasions weren’t suitable for discussing such troubling matters, but what needed facing had to be faced.

"I don’t know either; I’ll take it one step at a time."

Yang Tiantian said, frowning.

To be honest, she really had no idea what to do.

Initially, when she fled from home with Ye Chen, she indeed experienced a freedom she had never felt before.

But she knew that this freedom came at a price: she couldn’t return home, at least not until her father calmed down.

"Tiantian, how about this: after we’ve had our walk, I’ll take you home, and you can apologize to your father. I think the matter will be settled then, since you two are family after all."

Ye Chen proposed.

He felt that taking Yang Tiantian away like this, while exhilarating, might lead to misunderstandings.

Thinking of how Yang Tiantian’s family might call the police, Ye Chen realized that would be illegal.

Ye Chen was a law-abiding citizen; he couldn’t let this matter tarnish his life.

"No, I don’t want to go back to that house. Dad never cared about my feelings; I’m not a child anymore. Why can’t I make my own decisions about my life?"

Yang Tiantian responded with a rebuttal.

She still harbored resentment towards her father for not listening to her explanations and locking her up.

"Tiantian, I think your dad is doing it for your own good; he cares for you. When you become a parent, you’ll do the same."

Ye Chen tried to persuade her again.

For some reason, upon hearing this, Yang Tiantian’s face suddenly turned crimson.

Without thinking, Ye Chen asked.

"Tiantian, why is your face so red?"

"You’re talking nonsense; we’re just ordinary friends now. How can we even mention becoming parents? Aren’t you a bit too hasty?"

Yang Tiantian said shyly, lowering her head.

"Tiantian, you’ve misunderstood; that’s not what I meant."

Ye Chen knew that Yang Tiantian had misunderstood his words and quickly explained.

"If that’s not what you meant, what is? I’ve decided—I’ll definitely have kids with you in the future."

Ye Chen understood the girl’s thoughts, realizing she was determined to be with him.

"Well, that’s for the future. I haven’t thought about it yet."

Ye Chen said awkwardly.

"Exactly, that’s why I can’t understand my dad’s actions. If he doesn’t apologize, I won’t forgive him."

Yang Tiantian said firmly.

Well, the girl clearly wasn’t listening to reason, so Ye Chen said no more.

He felt there was no need to make things uncomfortable between them over this.

"Alright, this matter should be decided by you. I’m just giving you a suggestion."

Ye Chen nodded.
