Chapter 463: Chapter 222: Zhou Yan Is Eating Too Well! Damn Him...

Huang Bing glanced at her, his expression hard to put into words. "Seriously, Huang Ying, are you that vindictive? How could you say something so disgusting!"

"Hmph! A girl like me is just this petty." Huang Ying pouted. Watching the trio at the restaurant’s entrance, her interest was quickly piqued again. "I can’t get in on their little game for three, so starting now, I want to see blood!"

"Who do you think Yan will choose? One is the young lady from a Hong Kong Merchant Family, who rides around in a Crown sedan worth hundreds of thousands. The other is a beautiful university student with a wonderful temperament. Damn, that’s a tough choice!" Huang Bing scratched his head. Putting himself in Zhou Yan’s shoes, he actually felt a sort of happy dilemma.

"Miss Duan is dazzling and flamboyant, while Miss Xia has a scholarly air. Each has her own charm, so it really is a hard choice." Huang Ying nodded in agreement.

As they spoke, the two of them had already parked their bicycles at the restaurant’s entrance.

"Yingying!" Zhou Momo greeted Huang Ying happily and made an introduction. "This is Yaoyao."

Then she turned to Xia Yao and said, "This is Yingying."

"Hello, I’m Xia Yao," Xia Yao said with a smile.

"Hello, I’m Huang Ying. I’ve been coming here to eat a lot recently, so Momo and I are quite close," Huang Ying said quickly, eager to define her relationship to the situation.

"My three favorite big sisters are all here today! I’m so happy!" Zhou Momo skipped around, utterly delighted.

"You haven’t had lunch yet, have you?" Zhou Yan asked, looking at Xia Yao.

Xia Yao nodded slightly. "Mhm, I had breakfast in Rongcheng before coming down. I was planning to eat lunch at your restaurant—I’ve been craving your Kneeling Beef and braised pork ribs."

"Then let’s go inside and have a seat. I’ll take your bag." Zhou Yan extended his hand.

"Thank you." Xia Yao handed the bag over and let go.

Duan Yu Yan, Huang Ying, and Huang Bing watched this unfold, their eyes widening. This was clearly not the kind of relationship one has with a regular customer!

Xia Yao seemed poised and at ease, not at all affected. She had a refreshing and pleasant way about her.

"I’m in the mood for braised pork ribs, too. Xia Yao, why don’t we share a table?" Duan Yu Yan said to Xia Yao.

"Sure," Xia Yao replied with a smiling nod. She glanced at Huang Ying and Huang Bing. "Huang Ying, want to join us?"

"I don’t know..." Before Huang Ying could finish, Huang Bing was already nodding frantically. "Yes, yes."

"What does this have to do with you? Go sit at that table by the door." Huang Ying shot him a glare, then pursed her lips and nodded. "Alright, then I’ll sit with you two."

’I was hoping to sit over there and watch the drama unfold without being too obvious.’

’Well, so much for that. Now I’m at the table, too.’

’A front-row seat to all the drama.’

Zhou Yan hadn’t expected the three women to sit at the same table. He carried Xia Yao’s bag and went inside.

"Isn’t that the university student Zhou Yan saved last time? Director Lin’s niece? Is she back again?"

"That’s her! I thought she went to university in Mountain City? Did she come all this way just to see Zhou Yan?"

"She brought a ton of stuff for Zhou Yan and his family last time."

"And look at that other beauty. She shows up in a car every time. I bet she’s after Zhou Yan, too. Otherwise, why would she be coming to Suji every few days?"

"That kid, Zhou Yan, has all the luck."

The street vendors had already started whispering among themselves, their tones thick with envy.

"Mrs. Zhao, Zhou," Xia Yao called out as she entered.

"Xia Yao, what are you doing here? Is school on break?" Mrs. Zhao came forward to greet her, pleasantly surprised. She had been busy skimming the broth to prepare for service and hadn’t noticed.

Comrade Zhou acknowledged her with a grunt and stood by with a smile.

Xia Yao smiled. "I’m here for an internship at the textile mill. I’ll be staying for a while. I just arrived in Suji, so I came to see you all first, and to have some lunch."

"An internship? That’s wonderful. That means we’ll get to see you often for a while," Mrs. Zhao said, nodding.

"Zhou Yan, can I have the bag for a second?" Xia Yao said.

Zhou Yan immediately stopped and handed her the bag.

Xia Yao placed the bag on a stool, unzipped a side pocket, and took out a smoothly polished horn comb. She handed it to Mrs. Zhao. "It’s a horn comb I brought especially for you. It helps prevent static when you comb your hair in the winter."

"Oh, it’s so beautiful," Mrs. Zhao said as she accepted the horn comb, her face filled with delight.

"And I brought a belt for you. I hope you like it." Xia Yao took out a small box and handed it to Comrade Zhou.

"You shouldn’t have," Comrade Zhou said, accepting it with some embarrassment.

Xia Yao then pulled a large box out of her bag and, with a smile, handed it to Zhou Momo, who was watching with wide, hopeful eyes. "Momo, I brought you new crayons. This box has sixty-eight of them. The colors are richer, and there are more of each color, too. You just draw your heart out. When you run out, your big sister will buy you more."

"Whoa! Such a big box of crayons! I love them so much!" Zhou Momo’s eyes lit up. She took the box with both hands, spun around happily, then leaned in close to Xia Yao and said sweetly, "Yaoyao! I love you!"

"You’re so sweet." Xia Yao reached out and booped her on the nose. She then took a square box from her bag and handed it to Zhou Yan. "I thought you could use a wallet."

"Thanks," Zhou Yan said, accepting it. The smile threatening to break out on his face was harder to suppress than an AK-47.

’No wonder her bag was so heavy. She brought a gift for everyone.’

Duan Yu Yan and Huang Ying watched from the side, completely stunned. Xia Yao was incredibly thoughtful, having prepared gifts for Zhou Yan’s entire family—and all of them were both exquisite and practical.

The smiles on the faces of everyone who received a gift said it all.

A few nosy vendors crowded the doorway to watch the drama unfold, growing more and more shocked by what they saw.
