Chapter 660: Chapter 337: Damn, Is This Something a Human Can Learn?
Lao Chen was now very experienced and quickly arranged everything. Once they were ready to start, he immediately notified Chen Jincheng, "Boss, everything’s set. We’re ready to film."
Chen Jincheng nodded and headed out of Jinglan City to the front gate to prepare for the shoot.
The scene began with him walking up to the front of Jinglan City. He was drawn to a man selling swords by the gate and, taking a liking to one, bought it.
The sword seller was a Jinglan City employee in his fifties. With makeup on, he really looked the part. After selling the sword to Chen Jincheng, he cryptically remarked that this was no ordinary sword.
The next scene was of Chen Jincheng entering Jinglan City.
Lao Chen planned to add a special effect here.
The goal was to show the audience that as the Boss entered the city, he was traveling through time, leaving the modern world behind.
The scene cut to the inside of the city, now filled with people in period costumes.
Chen Jincheng strolled through the city until he came upon an area where "Tumbler Doll" performers were. He watched with curiosity. The plan was to get a close-up of Li Lixing and Wu Liufang as the performers, after which Xiaoju and Li Xiaoyang would push through the crowd, spot him, and comment on his strange attire.
The shoot for these scenes went smoothly.
Chen Jincheng, Xiaoju, and Li Xiaoyang were all very experienced when it came to filming videos.
Afterward, everyone took a break, as the next segment was Chen Jincheng’s solo performance: a sword kick followed by a sword dance.
After the sword kick, he would catch the sword and then change into a period costume. This transition would signify his integration into the city, his transformation into a true ancient Swordsman. This would be followed by a sword dance, and the video would end with him being drawn to two beautiful girls in Hanfu—Xiaoju and Li Xiaoyang—and following them.
And that’s where the video would end.
They shot the whole sequence two more times. Chen Jincheng, Lao Chen, and the others then reviewed the footage together and only wrapped up the shoot once they were satisfied they had what they needed.
"Boss, I’ll take this back and edit it today. The final cut should be ready by tomorrow," Lao Chen said with a smile.
"Okay. Go get some more footage of the Tumbler Doll performers. The company will need to promote them soon," Chen Jincheng added.
"Rest assured," Lao Chen promised with a smile, and immediately started making the arrangements.
By the time they finished filming everything, it was mealtime. Fu Zhan immediately extended an invitation. "Mr. Chen, everyone, I’ve had a meal prepared for us at a restaurant in the city. Please, join me."
Naturally, Chen Jincheng didn’t refuse.
And it was a proper historical-style restaurant, exactly the kind you see in movies and on TV, only a bit larger. Sitting by the window on the second floor, he could watch the crowds of people coming and going on the street below, just like in a period drama.
’If there were more tourists, and the streets were packed with people in period costumes, the atmosphere would be incredible,’ he thought.
"Mr. Chen, how do you find the food? It’s all traditional Coastal City cuisine," Fu Zhan asked with a smile.
"It’s excellent. Very flavorful," Chen Jincheng said with a nod.
As he ate, however, he felt Jinglan City was missing something. He thought about it for a while before his eyes lit up. He knew what it was: traditional folk art performances.
’It’s just like in TV dramas,’ he thought, ’where many scenes feature street performers, doing things like smashing boulders on their chests.’
Jinglan City didn’t need to feature such low-brow acts, but there were plenty of other performances they could showcase.
Chen Jincheng immediately turned to Fu Zhan. "Vice President Fu, Jinglan City should bring in some traditional folk art performers. You can set up designated areas for them. There are certain arts you absolutely must include. Not only would it promote traditional culture, but it would also attract a huge number of tourists."
Fu Zhan took any suggestion from Mr. Chen very seriously and immediately asked, "Please, Mr. Chen, go on."
Thinking back to the traditional arts that had gone viral online in his past life, Chen Jincheng listed them one by one. "Fire Pot juggling, Striking Iron Flowers, Lion Dance, Sichuan Opera fire-breathing, Face-Changing, the Gongfu Tea ceremony, the ’Zombie Drop,’ Ghost Stepping, fire-eating, leaping kicks onto tables, paper fan juggling..."
With every name Chen Jincheng mentioned, Wei Weiwei, who stood to the side, diligently wrote it down.
’Honestly, she’d never even heard of most of these things, yet Mr. Chen rattled them off with such intimate familiarity.’
After he finished, Chen Jincheng added a reminder, "Vice President Fu, if you can bring all of these traditional arts to Jinglan City, it will become an irreplaceable Ancient City in China."
In his other life, these traditional arts had all exploded in popularity at one point, each sparking a cultural trend. Their widespread appeal had signaled a revival of the nation’s folk arts, making everyone realize that their own country’s acrobatic performances were just as dazzling as anything from the West, if not more so.
Fire Pot juggling and Striking Iron Flowers, in particular, had become massive hits at tourist sites, with every performance drawing a capacity crowd.
Hearing this, Fu Zhan started searching for these traditional arts online, but at this point in time, most of them were still unknown to the general public.
But after just watching a video of the Fire Pot performance, Fu Zhan was completely blown away. He immediately ordered Wei Weiwei, "Weili, find masters of these arts at once. I want them found as quickly as possible."
"Yes, Vice Director Fu," Wei Weiwei nodded immediately. She too had only seen one video of the Fire Pot performance.
’The sight of a person completely engulfed in flames... it was so intense, so thrilling, so breathtaking.’
After the meal, Chen Jincheng had accomplished what he’d set out to do and was planning to head back to the company. Just then, however, he suddenly received a call from Yijin.
