Chapter 429: Two Hundred Billion Gold Coins! Legendary-Level Equipment!
After a moment of thought, watching the orcs still trying to break through the ice gate, Lin Mo’s lips suddenly curved into a faint smile.
Using such primitive methods to break this ice wall, who knows how long it will take.
Judging from the effect of that first strike, it would probably take at least ten to twenty minutes, maybe much longer.
But for Lin Mo, this ice wall in front of him was hardly an obstacle.
Staying in stealth, Lin Mo slowly approached the ice wall.
Then, he silently uttered one word in his heart.
"Flash!"
The next moment, Lin Mo appeared directly on the other side of the ice wall.
As expected.
Lin Mo felt a thrill of joy. Although this ice wall was extremely solid, it did not block spatial movement, so he only needed to flash through it to arrive on the other side.
So what could be behind this sturdy ice wall?
Lin Mo slowly lifted his head and looked forward with full expectation.
Then his mouth dropped open, and for a moment he stood there dumbfounded.
"This, this…"
Before this, Lin Mo had made many guesses about what lay beyond the ice wall.
First of all, whether the thing behind this ice wall was the treasure hidden within the secret realm—there really wasn't much doubt about that.
What else would be so specially protected besides treasure?
So Lin Mo had been mentally prepared before entering. Even so, when he saw the scene before him, he was still too shocked to speak.
It wasn't that Lin Mo hadn't seen much in his life, it was that the sight before him was simply ludicrously extravagant!
The room that appeared before him was roughly the same size as the huge hall Lin Mo had seen earlier that was filled with countless corpses of magical beasts… no, it might even be larger.
The floor area of this room probably reached dozens of square meters, and in such a vast chamber before Lin Mo stood a small mountain.
A mountain built entirely out of coins!
"Hiss—"
Lin Mo took a deep breath. To be honest, by this point he was no longer short of money; he already had a fair amount of gold on hand, and his craving for currency had dulled.
But seeing such a terrifying mountain of money still made it hard for him to stay calm.
Although this enormous mound of coin wasn't composed entirely of gold coins—there were also many silver coins, and no copper coins, presumably because they weren't deemed valuable—still, the total number of coins in that heap was astonishing.
Lin Mo couldn't immediately determine the exact amount, but judging from the mountain's size, the number of coins contained within was at least in the hundreds of billions, easily two or three hundred billion!
Even if only one-eighth of the heap were gold coins, that still meant hundreds of billions in gold!
Besides the gold and silver, Lin Mo also seemed to see a large number of even more precious crystal coins mixed in.
Counting crystal coins and silver coins together, the total value of this mountain of wealth was likely at least two hundred billion.
Two hundred billion gold coins—what an idea is that?
The royal treasury of a mid-sized kingdom would only amount to dozens of billions of gold, even counting real estate and equipment value.
The royal coffers of a large kingdom would be around three to five hundred billion.
Two hundred billion gold coins—that meant the pile of money before him equaled the wealth of several large kingdom royal houses combined.
This was outrageous…
But money becomes meaningless when there is too much of it; it turns into just a number.
Such a fortune would undoubtedly make Lin Mo financially free.
Or rather, he didn’t need that much money right now; having too much surplus cash served little purpose for him.
Compared to that, Lin Mo wanted other things more—equipment, skill scrolls, alchemy reagents, and other treasures.
A treasure trove this big surely wouldn't contain only money, right?
After a brief moment of astonishment, Lin Mo stopped paying attention to the huge coin mountain and started searching the vault for other items.
After some searching, he finally found a pile of equipment tucked in a corner of the treasury.
The equipment varied in quality. At first glance, the gear he saw was only excellent-grade, which clearly didn't match the overall level of this treasury. Although the grade was low, the pieces looked ornate and flashy, their surfaces gleaming with a golden shine.
Coincidentally, the other pieces also shared that same flashy appearance.
It seemed the creator of this secret realm favored ostentatious, beautiful things.
Lin Mo couldn't help casting another glance at the money mountain beside him—indeed, that appeared to be the case.
So it wasn’t surprising that the treasury lacked plain items like scrolls and alchemy reagents.
Given that, he could only examine this pile of equipment.
Although these items looked unimpressive compared to the massive coin mountain, in reality the stack contained over a hundred pieces.
Lin Mo quickly sorted the gear by grade. There were only three excellent-grade items, and each looked too ornate for their grade—likely why they were stored here.
Next were 64 exceptional-grade pieces. Those had no use for Lin Mo, so he ignored them and set them aside.
There remained 31 epic-level pieces, most of which were low-tier epic, with some mid-tier epic. Only four of them were upper-epic.
Those were more useful. Lin Mo noted that although the four upper-epic pieces weren't particularly helpful for him, they could be used to strengthen Ellie and the others.
There were also several decent items among the mid-epic pieces that could be put to use.
So Lin Mo put all those pieces into his portable space.
As for the rest…
Lin Mo turned his attention to the last few pieces of equipment.
There were three items in total, two of which were quasi-legendary level.
Quasi-legendary equipment is a somewhat abstract concept.
Such gear has two main origins. One: the materials used meet legendary-level standards, but some deviation occurred during forging, so the final effectiveness didn't reach true legendary levels.
Their attributes and stats are still much stronger than upper-epic gear—essentially failed legendary items—thus labeled quasi-legendary.
The other type is like the Primordial Gloves Lin Mo himself used: the materials are superior to typical upper-epic items but fall short of legendary tier. The forging process went extremely smoothly and perfectly, and the final product is noticeably stronger than upper-epic gear.
Being able to forge the Primordial Gloves shows how superb Grandmaster Xavier’s skill truly is.
He’s not very old by dwarf standards; compared to a dwarf’s lifespan he’s still middle-aged, with room for further progress.
Given time, he might well forge true legendary equipment and become a legendary-level smith.
Back to the matter at hand: Lin Mo inspected these items carefully.
Of the three pieces, one was a staff, one a pair of boots, and one a piece of armor.
[Staff of Extinction]
Weapon Type: Magic Equipment / Weapon
Grade: (Quasi) Legendary
Attributes: Durability +430%, Solidity +280%
Hidden Attribute: Blazing IV: When casting fire-element magic, mana surge rate increases by 40%
Equipment Amplification: Soul of Inferno IV: In combat, grants 150 points mana attribute amplification; when using fire elemental magic, grants an additional 150 points
Equipment Skill: Blazing Meteor: Consumes massive mana to activate the staff's mana circuits, summoning blazing meteors to fall, dealing area damage and leaving trails of burning sparks, continuously inflicting burn damage to enemies within the area.
A staff specialized in fire element…
In fact, most magic equipment in this world tends to specialize in a single element.
After all, nearly every mage in this world masters only one elemental magic.
By contrast, a universally enhanced staff that boosts multiple elements would dilute the single-element power and decrease its value.
But for Lin Mo, this single-element equipment wasn’t very useful.
Moreover, the Primordial Gloves he currently used were also quasi-legendary and noticeably stronger than this staff; the glove’s skill provided percentage-based bonuses.
This staff would be perfect for Flora.
Thinking that, Lin Mo unceremoniously pocketed the staff.
At that moment, a loud crash sounded outside.
In truth, while Lin Mo had been searching the treasury, the orcs outside had never stopped attacking the ice gate; they had been hammering at it continuously.
Although their attacks could only damage the ice gate so much, their numbers were large and they were very persistent. After checking, it seemed the inner layer of the ice gate had already begun to crack.
This was much faster than Lin Mo had expected.
It seemed he had underestimated these orcs. In terms of individual strength—especially raw power and destructive capacity—orc bloodline enhancements do give them a significant edge over humans.
Moreover, the high-level orcs outside were nobles from the Orc Empire, those with the strongest bloodlines and unusually high blood density, making them exceptionally powerful.
Lin Mo glanced toward the gate and roughly estimated how long it would take the orcs to break through, then casually continued to inspect the next piece of equipment.
No problem; although the progress was faster than he expected, it would still take some time to break through. He had enough time.
The second quasi-legendary item was the pair of boots.
[Shadowstride Godwalk Boots]
Equipment Type: Boots
Grade: (Quasi) Legendary
Attributes: Durability +300%, Solidity +300%
Hidden Attribute: Shadowstep IV: Movement speed +25%; when attacked, grants an additional 75% instant burst movement speed.
Equipment Amplification: Godwalk IV: When using agility-type skills, grants +240 agility, reduces consumption for dash and speed-boost skills by 30%, and further increases their effects by an extra 30%!
Equipment Skill: Shadowless Leap: Temporarily invincible with a burst movement speed increase of 300%; attacking or casting will cancel the state.
Not bad, not bad.
Lin Mo nodded in satisfaction. He was very pleased with these boots; they were far superior to his current Shadowblood Stride Boots.
The hidden attribute directly grants an unconditional 25% extra movement speed—just that alone is highly useful. Plus, when attacked it grants an explosive burst of movement, which in combat can quickly create distance at the moment of a hit or collision, greatly enhancing mobility.
The equipment amplification was also powerful: it provided stats and reduced cost for charge and movement-boost skills while enhancing those skills’ effects.
The equipment skill was outright broken: a short-term 300% burst to movement speed, though attacking or casting cancels the state. It’s excellent for escaping skillshots or making quick dashes.
Although Lin Mo’s flash skill reduced the value of this ability somewhat, it didn’t render it useless.
Flash cannot be used seamlessly back-to-back without gaps; there are always brief vacuums regardless of proficiency, and this equipment skill can perfectly fill those critical moments. In other words, it’s almost like having an extra flash.
Finally, the heaviest hitter: the armor.
It was the only true legendary-grade item.
Lin Mo immediately switched to the Shadowstride Godwalk Boots, then turned his attention to this armor’s attributes.
[Dragon Scale Frostlight Armor]
Equipment Type: Armor / Scale Mail
Grade: Legendary (Gold)
Attributes: Durability +800%, Solidity +800%
Hidden Attribute: Dragon Scale Protection: In combat increases qi and blood strength by 50% and increases defense by 30%
Equipment Amplification: Frostlight Penetration: In combat grants +500 Strength, +500 Agility, +500 Constitution. If the wearer has ice-element related bloodline or special status, grants an additional +500 Mana!
Equipment Skill 1: Frost Dragon Might (Passive): Armor forged entirely from dragon scales carries inherent dragon might; in combat, it suppresses attributes by 15–30% against enemies below Legendary level, and suppresses attributes by 5–10% against Legendary-level enemies.
Equipment Skill 2: Dragon Scale Shield: Temporarily disassemble the armor into dragon scales to form an all-around shield that resists all attacks below Mythic level, until the Dragon Scale Shield’s bearing limit is exceeded.
Dragon Scale Frostlight Armor?
Lin Mo paused. Setting aside the attributes for a moment, it reminded him of his Frost Dragon Scale Sword; he had used that sword for a long time. That blade had also been forged with ice dragon scales, but compared to a single blade of dragon scale, this armor—entirely forged from dragon scales—was clearly in a higher league.
