Chapter 671: My Child
Chapter 671: My Child
The carriage stopped moving, and the horses pulling it suddenly let out sounds of discomfort.
What happened?
Alaric released a stream of his mana to inspect the situation and was left stunned by what he saw.
The three Disaster-grade horses had fallen to the ground, trembling as they snorted uneasily. The coachman, an Elite Warrior was also shaking, seemingly afraid of something.
The same thing was happening to the escort warriors and their horses.
An invisible force visibly shook everyone. The only one who remained upright was Einar, the commanding officer of the escort warriors.
At this moment, Einar was trying to calm his agitated warhorse, stroking the beast’s mane as he communicated with it. He then dismounted and hurried to the carriage.
"Your Majesty, are you alright?"
Einar’s words snapped Alaric back to reality.
"I’m fine." He responded as he opened the carriage window.
Looking at Alaric’s calm expression, Einar was relieved.
"Your Majesty, there is some sort of mystical power affecting the whole group. I still have not determined what is causing this." He reported, looking ashamed of himself.
Hearing this, Alaric waved his hand. "There is no need for you to be alarmed. It was my fault for accidentally releasing my power."
Hm?
Einar stared at him in surprise.
So that oppressive power was from His Majesty! No wonder!
"Once the horses have calmed down, we must depart at once!" Alaric instructed with an indifferent voice.
"Your subordinate understands." Einar acknowledged the command. He then pulled the reins of his horse and went to inform the escort warriors about the situation.
A quarter of an hour later, the carriage finally started moving.
Meanwhile, Alaric inspected the changes in his personal information.

Alaric was ecstatic when he saw the huge improvement in his stats. Excluding his mana, nearly all his attributes were already at maximum.
He was so absorbed in inspecting his personal information that he didn’t notice that they were already close to the imperial palace.
I will do a more thorough test on my newly awakened integrated monster trait once I return to the estate. For now, I should celebrate the good news with my wife.
Thinking about this, Alaric closed the system screen and adjusted his thoughts.
...
Inside the palace, Yskaela was already informed that Alaric was coming. She quickly changed into a less formal outfit and headed to the entrance of the palace to wait for her husband.
"Your Majesty, you should have waited in the throne room. I’m sure His Majesty will understand." Said Bai Seol-hwa who was walking next to her, her face filled with concern.
Yskaela chuckled, seemingly amused by her nagging. "I am not a feeble woman, Bai Seol-hwa. Besides, the physician has already told me that walking is an essential exercise during my pregnancy."
Bai Seol-hwa no longer said anything more.
The two quietly waited at the palace doors, looking at the cobblestone road with unblinking eyes.
A moment later, a carriage came into their view, escorted by a group of imperial knights on horseback.
When the carriage stopped, Alaric stepped out and greeted Yskaela with a smile. "How have you been, my wife?"
The two had already grown closer after engaging in passionate activities almost every day in the last month. Their conversation flowed smoothly unlike the usual awkwardness.
If it weren’t for Bai Seol-hwa’s presence, the two might have been more affectionate upon meeting.
"Let’s talk inside your bedchamber," Alaric whispered.
Yskaela blushed when she heard this. She discreetly glanced at Bai Seol-hwa to see her reaction. Unfortunately, the latter’s face was expressionless so she couldn’t tell what she was thinking.
"Alright." Yskaela brought him to her bedchamber.
Bai Seol-hwa didn’t follow them inside. She tactfully stayed in the hallway without saying anything.
As soon as the couple entered the bedchamber, they stared intensely at each other. It hadn’t even been long since they last met, but they already craved each other’s bodies.
Alaric repressed his desires and took a seat on a stool next to the side table.
"Would you like some coffee?" Yskaela knew that he liked coffee so she prepared all sorts of coffee beans in her drawer in case he wanted some caffeine.
"I’ll have some black coffee," Alaric replied while observing his wife’s physique.
Even though she was pregnant, there were still no visible changes to her physical appearance.
As if unaware of his gaze, Yskaela grabbed a bag of coffee beans from her drawer and poured a handful into a bowl. She then ground them into fine powder and poured them together with the hot water into a cup.
Using a spoon, Yskaela stirred the mixture until the fine coffee powder dissolved into the hot water. She then brought the freshly made coffee and placed it on the side table. "You don’t mind drinking unfiltered coffee, right?"
Alaric smiled and shook his head.
"Sit next to me. I want to see it." He gestured to his wife.
Yskaela obediently sat next to him, her eyes shining with excitement.
Alaric gently placed his hand over her stomach. He then sent a stream of his mana to observe the lifeform that was slowly forming inside her womb.
It was still small and it hadn’t even fully taken form, but Alaric could sense the life force pulsating within this tiny creature.
My child...
Unknowingly, his lips curved upward.
