Chapter 716: Alaric Meets Rolferth
The chieftain of the grey wolf tribe was about to remove his clothes and enjoy the goat beastkin woman he captured when he heard his subordinates’ urgent call.
"Chief, bad news! There is an army approaching!"
Hearing this, the grey wolf tribe chieftain was stunned. "What?!"
He stepped out of the room and grabbed his panicking subordinate. "What did you say?! Say it clearly!"
In a trembling voice, the wolf beastkin warrior replied. "The goat bastards brought an army of humans! We must escape, chief!"
"Humans?!" The chief frowned.
"It’s just a bunch of humans. We don’t need to fear them." He snorted, pushing away the shaking wolf warrior.
"Chief, there are a thousand of them! We don’t stand a chance!" The wolf beastkin warrior quickly added.
"What?! You should have said that from the start dumbass!" The chieftain cursed, panicking inwardly.
He wouldn’t fear a small group of humans, but if there were a thousand of them, that would be a different story.
Without caring for his image, he rushed out of the house and was prepared to escape when he suddenly saw an army of cavalrymen entering the village gate.
"Bloody hell!" His eyes widened in fear.
In his panic, he twisted his foot and fell to the ground, trembling.
"Chief, you must escape and warn our folks! We will buy you some time!" One of his subordinates helped him get up.
However, before they could even make a move, a group of cavalrymen surrounded them, pointing their sharp spears at them.
The gleaming blades of the spears made the grey wolf tribe warriors tremble.
The Grey Wolf Tribe chieftain gathered his courage and roared. "H-Humans, what are you doing in the territory of the Golden Lion Tribe? Have you forgotten the treaty signed by our leaders?!"
To his horror, he received no response. The human cavalrymen just stared coldly at their group, ready to stab them with their spears.
"W-Wait! W-We are vassals of the great Golden Lion Tribe! I-It wouldn’t do you any good if you harm us!" He quickly added, hoping that the other party would be intimidated.
Just then, a distraught scream drifted into their ears.
"Fanmir, you demonic bastard! Why did you kill our folks?! Why did you destroy and burn our homes!"
The goat beastkin chieftain, Orlov, rushed toward the grey wolf chieftain and gave him a thorough beating.
No one stopped him, not even the subordinates of Fanmir. They were too scared of the human cavalrymen.
As for Fanmir, it took him a moment to process the situation.
Is this Orlov?
"You, damn goat!" Orlov shoved him off and was about to retaliate when a cold gleaming spear blade touched his neck.
Cold sweat trickled down his back as he looked at the cavalryman before him.
"O-Orlov, how dare you side with the humans?! Are you trying to rebel?!" He was anxious deep inside, but he tried to remain calm.
Orlov’s eyes flashed with a moment of hesitation, but it was quickly replaced by a determined expression.
"We have been loyal to the Golden Lion Tribe, but they ignored our pleas for help. How can we continue to support such a heartless ruler?!" He angrily retorted.
"Y-You!"
"How do you want me to deal with them?" Lorans calmly asked. The other party had already defected to their great army so he decided to honor their decision.
With a furious look, Orlov responded. "Please kill them all, Lord Lorans!"
Lorans nodded.
"Wait! You can’t do this! Doing this will only cause a war between-" Fanmir couldn’t finish his words as a spear pierced into his skull, killing him instantly.
The rest of the grey wolf tribesmen were also killed. They couldn’t even resist.
Orlov and the goat beastkin warriors grieved for their folks who died during their absence.
Lorans didn’t disturb them and instructed his subordinates to search the vicinity. He had to make sure that no threat remained in the village.
...
In the settlement of the great allied army, an entourage leading a horse-drawn carriage arrived.
Alaric received word of their arrival and immediately stepped out to meet them.
At the gate of the settlement, he saw a group of humans dressed in luxurious garments escorted by his subordinates.
Seeing this group, Alaric furrowed his eyebrows and used his appraisal on the leading figure.
Rolferth Tirman [Beyonder] EXP: 16766/25000
Potential: L
Traits: Mace Mastery (L), Close Combat (SSS), Swordsmanship (SS), Trickery (SS), Horseback Riding (S), Business Management (S), Intimidation (A), Invention (A), ..."

Agility: 2773
Vitality: 3144

Alaric was shocked by the other party’s attributes, not because it was high, but because it was too weak. He was a Beyonder, but his traits and attributes were surprisingly lacking. The only good trait he had was the L-rank Mace Mastery.
Although he quite looked down on the other party, Alaric didn’t show it on his face.
"Welcome! I am Alaric Silversword, the leader of this great army. And you are?"
"Rolferth of the Double Sun Firm. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lord Alaric." Rolferth extended his hand and shook hands with Alaric.
The two exchanged polite words before Alaric invited Rolferth to his tent.
The warriors of the great allied army curiously observed the visitors, but beneath their curiosity was wariness.
Inside Alaric’s tent.
"Elderman Rolferth, I have heard about you." Alaric poured tea for his guest, the same tea he served to Orlov.
Rolferth wasn’t surprised. He held an important position in the Obsidian Tower, so he was well known in the surrounding cities and territories.
"Lord Alaric, since you know me, this makes things easier between us. I came here to make friends with you." Rolferth laughed and gestured at his subordinate.
"Bring in the gifts I prepared for our friends."
Alaric didn’t stop him and curiously watched the show. He wondered what the man had brought for him.
Seeing his anticipation, Rolferth chuckled. "I am a businessman and it is in my nature to send gifts to my friends."
A moment later, a group of servants came in, bringing boxes inside the tent.
