Chapter 1632: Chapter 103: Fox and Mouse Game (13)

"Moritz! What the hell are you doing?"

Ignoring the guards’ obstruction, Roson kicked open the door and stormed into the monastery affiliated with the Maplestone City Cathedral, roaring.

Blood dripped from his fingertips, leaving a striking red trail on the corridor floor.

Two unfortunate junior officers on night duty heard a loud "bang" and thought that the Pretender Emperor’s dogs had come knocking.

Although the "Major" had said during the assignment that the enemy might act out of desperation, and all personnel involved must be mentally prepared for anti-magic combat at any time, the junior officers still couldn’t suppress their anxiety when facing the legendary "Court Mage."

Time was of the essence. After exchanging a glance, the two immediately grabbed their sabers and pistols and rushed out of the side hall they were stationed at, as per protocol, they needed to reach the storage room at all costs.

Fortunately, they didn’t encounter the legendary Court Mage in the corridor;

But unfortunately, the intruder was more terrifying than the Court Mage.

Faced with their senior, who was covered in blood, looked fierce, and resembled a wolf wanting to devour them, the two junior officers dared not breathe, instinctively lining up against the wall.

"Where’s the Major?" Roson, his hands stained with blood, grabbed a junior officer by the collar, almost lifting him off the ground.

The junior officer, wishing it had been the Court Mage instead, disgracefully pointed to the prayer room at the end of the corridor.

Roson dropped him and marched toward the prayer room, roaring, "Moritz! Get out here!"

The door to the prayer room opened silently, candlelight illuminating the holy image at the end of the corridor.

Moritz stepped out from the light, scrutinized Roson briefly, then gestured for him to enter the prayer room.

For the first time, Roson found Moritz’s beautiful face infuriating, gritting his teeth as he demanded, "What kind of trick are you playing?"

However, Moritz didn’t reply and walked straight back into the prayer room.

Roson, seething with anger, quickly strode to the prayer room entrance and harshly questioned, "You sent those people, didn’t you? What exactly are you trying to do? You..."

Roson’s voice abruptly stopped because he discovered that besides Major Moritz and Sister Felt, there was someone he didn’t recognize in the prayer room.

The person also wore the Alliance Army officer’s uniform, but Roson had no recollection of him.

The stranger was smiling, watching him intently.

Roson stared at the stranger, running through hundreds of names in his mind in an instant, but none matched the face before him.

Eventually, when Roson shifted his focus from the person’s face to their uniform, he noticed something unusual—the blue of that uniform was not the sky blue of Paratu or the sea blue of Vineta, but a steel blue between the two...

United Province’s steel blue.

Roson looked at Moritz, speechless.

Moritz remained silent as well.

The unfamiliar United Province officer stood up, smiling, and said, "It seems you two have much to discuss. I’ll leave you to it."

Moritz nodded slightly, summoned a junior officer with a bell, and the unfamiliar United Province officer promptly followed the junior officer out.

Roson’s voice was devoid of anger now; he stared intently at Major Moritz’s face, asking word by word, "What exactly are you trying to do?"

The Major pointed to Roson’s right hand, retorting, "Didn’t the Grand Judge order someone to treat you?"

"What exactly are you trying to do?" Roson seemed not to hear the Major’s question, nor feel any pain, "Are the United Province’s assassins involved?"

The Major turned to the nun, "Sister Felt, please help Major Roson treat his wound."

The nun nodded, got up, and left the prayer room.

"You still haven’t answered my question," Roson squeezed out the words from his throat, "Major."

"The people are from the Southern General Army," the Major maintained his poker face, "but the operation was arranged by me."

Meanwhile, the nun returned with a medical kit.

The Major then gestured for Roson to sit and tend to his wound.

Roson, however, remained where he was, hoarsely asking, "How do you plan to explain this?"

"Explain? To whom?" the nun spoke. She frowned at Roson, mockingly questioning, "You didn’t really fall for it, did you? Major Roson?"

Roson felt as if a bucket of cold water was poured over his head, rendering him speechless.

The nun sneered at his reaction, pulling Roson to sit on the bench and gently peeled the cloth wrapped around the Major’s wound.

"You really went all out," the nun remarked with a mix of sarcasm and admiration, seeing the skin and flesh turned out on Roson’s right hand, "Perhaps the little princess was moved to want to marry you."

Roson’s face burned with embarrassment, "We had sworn to ensure Elizabeth Li Yang’s absolute safety."

"Is she not safe?" The nun took out a bottle of Holy Water and a copper basin for washing hands, carefully cleaning Roson’s wound, "Has she died? There are so many priests in Maplestone City now, would they let her die?"

"Then why promise ’absolute safety’?" Roson countered, "Why not just say ’You definitely won’t die tonight’."

"If I had hinted so earlier," the nun replied sarcastically, "would there have been room for you to be the heroic rescuer?"

Saying this, she tugged at Roson’s wound, the intense pain making Roson instinctively want to pull his hand back.

"Don’t move," the nun smacked Roson’s knee, scolding angrily, "So brave when rescuing, yet now you can’t take the pain?"

Roson found himself at a loss for words.

The nearby Major suddenly spoke, repeating his earlier question: "Didn’t the Grand Judge order someone to treat you?"

"They were all busy attending to Elizabeth," Roson explained, "they didn’t get around to me, besides, my injury isn’t life-threatening."
