「Luzhou, Huaihai Road Pedestrian Street.」

The entrance to the Orange Intelligent Life Hall was buzzing with activity. The line of fans waiting to buy a phone was twice as long as the one for Fangyan Roasted Pig’s Trotter across the street. From a distance, it looked like there were three or four hundred people.

The store manager, Yang Xu, leaned out to take a look. After estimating the size of the crowd, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

Unlike the tiny shops in third- and fourth-tier cities or rural towns, the directly-operated store he managed spanned 410 square meters. Within the company, it was known as a flagship store, or a large-scale retail location.

The store had 200 Yaocheng X2s, 400 Orange C4s, and 800 Qingcheng D2Ss in stock, which they hoped would be enough to meet the demand from in-person customers for the first two days.

By now, Luzhou’s central warehouse had been completely cleared out. All stock had been allocated to either Kuai Pao’s forward-distribution centers or Orange Technology’s directly-operated stores.

Once this batch was sold out, they would have to wait another two days for the next shipment.

Zhou Shouzhi, Cao Dahua, and the heads of the distribution, product planning, and manufacturing departments had all underestimated customer enthusiasm for the new Orange mobile phones.

The first-day sales figure of 2.227 million units had left everyone stunned.

At this moment, the factories in Shencheng City and Luzhou were already running at maximum capacity.

Production lines were running twenty-four hours a day, and the company had even taken the unprecedented step of increasing the maximum weekday overtime to six hours.

Far from being upset, the assembly line workers were delighted. After all, two extra hours of overtime a day meant an additional 75 yuan in pay, which came to 375 yuan a week.

No one ever complained about making too much money.

The workers wished the Orange mobile phones would sell five or even ten million units a day; that way, they could work sixteen or eighteen hours daily.

But they also knew that the factory was extremely strict about controlling overtime. In less than a week, once the next batch of new hires was trained and onboarded, the amount of available overtime would drop back to its previous level.

Chen Yansen sat in a Kawangka Milk Tea Shop. With a lemon tea in his left hand and a pig’s trotter in his right, he ate with relish while gazing at the store across the street.

He was wearing a baseball cap, wide-framed sunglasses, a short-sleeved T-shirt, and a pair of light gray casual pants. He looked like a completely different person compared to his usual suited-up appearance.

Beside him, Ye Qiuping was chewing on her straw. She took two hard sips of her milk tea, and a faint smile bloomed on her lips as a thought crossed her mind.

She snuck a glance at Chen Yansen, her eyes tracing a path from his jawline up to his features. Her mind filled with images from the previous night, and a tingling warmth spread through her, causing her to subconsciously press her thighs together.

“The Industry and Information Association has announced the first batch of virtual network operator licenses. There were fifteen in total, and Orange Communications Company secured one. When you have time, merge the Starshine Card and Enterprise Card services over to it.”

Chen Yansen instructed her as he turned his head.

‘Orange Communication?’

‘Does the company even have a subsidiary with that name?’

Ye Qiuping immediately nodded in agreement, though her eyes were filled with confusion.

“I registered it on a whim two years ago,” Chen Yansen explained in a flat tone.

Alongside Orange Communication, other companies like Ah Li, Jingdong, and Hainan Airlines had also been selected.

Virtual network operators can only purchase communication services from the major telecommunication carriers. They then rebrand the services, add their own features, and sell them to end-users.

To put it bluntly, they acted as business intermediaries for the three major carriers, still playing by the same old “wholesale to retail” business model.

The only difference was that virtual network operators had a certain degree of flexibility and the authority to customize their service plans.

“Boss, are you saying you want me to take charge of Orange Communication?”

After a moment’s thought, Ye Qiuping quickly caught on. She pointed to herself, her face a mask of disbelief.

‘She’d only been at Senlian Capital for two years. Was she really about to get her third major promotion?’

“Think you can handle it?” Chen Yansen asked with a smile.

“Boss, I can do it,” Ye Qiuping replied, her voice firm.

Although she’d never attended a proper university, she’d certainly had her share of improper university students.

Pah! That’s not right. What I should say is, she had held a proper job.

The fact that Ye Qiuping had worked her way up from a mere specialist to the Director of Marketing at Jingdong all on her own was proof enough. Aside from her lack of a degree, Master Ye’s abilities were second to none.

Since joining Orange Technology, her experience working on multiple projects had practically doubled her operational and management skills.

She was more than qualified to serve as the CEO of a small project.

“Just give it a shot for now. But if you can’t produce some decent results, you won’t be holding onto that position for long,” Chen Yansen added casually, taking a light sip of his lemon tea.

“I’ve never had trouble keeping my seat,” Ye Qiuping said with a lick of her lips, the double meaning hanging in the air.

Chen Yansen just smiled and didn’t respond.

‘Master Ye was still the same old Master Ye,’ he mused. ‘Cunning as a fox and shamelessly flirty.’

“Alright, you can head back now. I’m meeting someone,” Chen Yansen said, waving his hand dismissively.

“So, are you coming back to the villa tonight?” Ye Qiuping asked, staring at him intently.

On this trip to Luzhou, a change of clothes only took up half the space in her suitcase. The other half was stuffed with the chef, nurse, Avatar, and Spider-Man costumes that Boss Chen liked.

But yesterday, none of these props had seen any action.

“I’ll be back,” Chen Yansen replied.

Ye Qiuping beamed, grabbed her handbag from the stool, and walked out meekly.

As for who President Chen was meeting—man or woman—she wouldn’t ask. She didn’t dare to.

Ten minutes later, Song Yuncheng pushed the door open and walked in, her eyes immediately finding Chen Yansen by the large glass window.

Even though President Chen was wearing a hat and sunglasses, revealing only the lower half of his face, there was only one person in the entire shop as tall as he was.

Besides, the two of them had spent more than three years in each other’s constant company. Song Yuncheng could have recognized him in an instant just from the shape of his mouth.
