"The prayer session is over for today. Please come back tomorrow!"

A portion of the Sea God Church was open to the public, specifically for ordinary people to come and pray. However, it was only open during specific hours each day.

Hu Qi heard this but didn’t break his stride.

Seeing this, the two guards frowned. They sensed something was wrong.

Just as they were about to act...

"Exactly thirty," Hu Qi said.

SHING!

A cold light flashed.

The two armored, Sequence Nine guards stiffened abruptly before they could even react.

Their eyes widened in disbelief as they looked down at their armor.

A thin line slowly appeared.

CRACK.

The armor cracked and split apart, and with it, the bodies inside were cleaved neatly in two.

Scalding blood gushed out like a fountain, and their entrails spilled onto the pristine white snow with a wet SPLAT.

The hot blood melted the snow, sending up wisps of crimson steam.

Hu Qi hadn’t been idle for the past three days.

Because of the Mermaid Treasure, the number of Professionals in Night Crow Harbor had surged.

He had killed over twenty Professionals in three days without causing much of a stir.

Now, with these two, his kill count had reached thirty.

Seventy more to go for the hundred-man kill requirement.

He ignored the two corpses and walked straight toward the main gate.

He had come here for two reasons.

Reaping Professionals and completing the advancement ritual for the Blood Swordsman was a secondary goal.

His primary objective was to look through the Sea God Church’s internal records. He wanted to see if he could find any information on higher Sequences.

After all, compared to fighting those High Tier Professionals over the Mermaid Treasure in some unknown location, searching the Sea God Church was a more practical approach.

Normally, he wouldn’t have dared to do something so audacious.

After all, while the Godslayer path was powerful, his Sequence was still too low. He would be outmatched if he ran into a High Tier Professional.

But things were different now.

The most powerful Priest in the Church had left.

So he had nothing to fear.

However, just as he took a step forward, he froze.

He tensed up, raising his head to look at the two enormous stone statues flanking the entrance.

He had gathered information about the Sea God Church recently. He knew the one on the left was called the ’Master of Fury Waves.’ It had the head of a man and the body of a snake, with knotted muscles, a stern expression, and held a giant axe.

The one on the right was the ’Mother of Calm Sea.’ She had long, green, wave-like hair, her hands were crossed over her chest, and her gaze was downcast.

As stone statues, they should have been inanimate objects.

But strangely, in Hu Qi’s perception, no matter which angle he looked from, he found that both were peering at him.

It was a gaze filled with malice.

The next second, a salty sea breeze mixed with snowflakes blew in his face. The surfaces of the once-gray stone statues were now eerily covered in a layer of slippery, dark-green algae that glinted under the light of the snow.

Suddenly, the statues moved.

They slowly turned their heads, their four cold gazes piercing through the falling snow to lock onto Hu Qi.

The ’Mother of Calm Sea’s’ green hair billowed like a tide, dancing silently in the wind and snow.

She opened her eyes slightly, and Hu Qi felt his feet sink.

He looked down.

A grayish-white stone skin was spreading from the soles of his boots and creeping up his legs at a visible rate.

At the same time, the ’Master of Fury Waves’ swung its serpentine tail as seawater surged behind it.

It raised its giant axe high, casting a shadow that carried a bone-chilling cold as it chopped down toward his head!

Faced with this, however, Hu Qi merely sneered.

"Such theatrics!"

SHIIING!

Before the last word had even left his lips, the cry of a sword rang out, sharp as cracking ice.

A brilliant silver arc of light erupted before him, like a crescent moon piercing the blizzard.

CRASH!

It sounded like a great wave crashing ashore, or perhaps a sheet of ice shattering.

Hu Qi’s vision blurred.

The wind and snow remained, but the statues had returned to their original forms.

The only difference was the large, mottled cracks that now marred their surfaces.

The feeling of being watched had vanished completely.

He glanced at his legs; they were back to normal.

’A mystical item?’

A peculiar expression crossed Hu Qi’s face.

The combined power of these two statues was enough to instantly kill any Sequence Eight Professional. It could even threaten a Sequence Seven.

If someone couldn’t break free from that Illusion Realm, their physical body would die in the real world.

For Hu Qi, however, it was completely useless.

His nature as a True God aside, his status as a Sequence Eight Ten Thousand Slash Disciple alone granted him the Demon-Breaking Trait.

A single sword strike was all it took to shatter it.

Afterward, Hu Qi entered the Sea God Church.

He hadn’t gone far, however, when...

"Who are you?"

A few cultists, drawn by the commotion, rushed over. Their expressions turned cold as they looked at Hu Qi.

Water vapor began to steam from their bodies as they prepared to attack.

In response, Hu Qi said nothing. With a stomp of his foot, his figure blurred into an afterimage, and in an instant, he charged directly into their midst.

In a flicker of sword light, the cultists, who had been full of life just a moment before, were reduced to a pile of mangled flesh and blood.

SNAP!

Hu Qi snapped the neck of a blue-robed cultist and tossed the body casually to the ground.

He then used the Heaven-Seizing Technique on them to obtain the information he wanted.

He then headed toward a specific location.

Searching through books would be too slow.

’Who knows when that Priest will return.’

He needed to be quick.

’It’s far more convenient to just seize memories with the Heaven-Seizing Technique.’

Along the way, any cultist he encountered was killed.

Soon, he found his target inside one of the church’s chapels.
