Chapter 1095 - 389: Girl, It’s About Time—Let’s Set Out!
The team stopped.
A middle-aged man who looked like the leader quickly took off his thick cold-weather mask.
Revealing a face flushed from the cold.
He stepped forward briskly and pulled out an official document stamped by the Federal Arctic Great Wall Command from his pocket, handing it over:
"Comrade, hello, we are the special frontline documentary team from the Federal Arctic War Zone News Bureau. I am the leader, Chen Tao. Here are our documents and assignment order."
He pointed to the reporters behind him holding equipment, "We are ordered to come and fully follow, film, and record your unit’s upcoming combat operations."
"This is specially approved by the highest command and General Hong Qitian."
The guarding soldier carefully inspected the documents.
Confirmed no errors.
But still maintained business-like seriousness on his face: "Just a moment, I need to report to my superiors."
He immediately reported upwards.
Soon, the instruction came back permitting passage.
"Received!" The soldier responded, stepping aside to clear the way.
"Please enter, maintain formation, closely follow the guide personnel, do not move around freely and disturb the resting soldiers."
"Understood! Thank you, comrade!"
Leader Chen Tao breathed a sigh of relief and quickly urged the reporters behind him to follow.
Hua Jing and Aileen were wrapped in thick cold-weather clothing, following closely in the middle of the team.
Their young eyes were filled with uncontrollable curiosity.
This was after they had become war correspondents.
The first time they truly set foot on the front line outpost that had just experienced a bloody battle.
Upon stepping through the outpost gate, the overwhelming smell of blood and gunpowder rushed over, suffocating.
Even the mask couldn’t completely block it.
The scene before them made all the reporters gasp.
Wherever they looked, there was chaos.
Frozen greenish blood, like splashes of ink, stained large expanses of ice, mixed with shattered bone armor, broken claws, and indescribable chunks of flesh.
Grotesque and terrifying Life Ghost corpses were scattered everywhere, some partially covered by snow and wind.
Some maintained twisted positions from their dying struggle.
More unsettling was the edge of the outpost’s open area.
Several hills piled from Life Ghost corpses, towering more than ten meters high.
Like terrifying jumbled monuments, they bore witness to the brutal slaughter that had happened here shortly before.
Cold wind sweeps over the corpse piles, making eerie whimpering sounds.
"Oh my God..."
Aileen covered her mouth, her face pale.
Yet instinctively aimed the camera at the horrifying pile of corpses.
Hua Jing’s heart pounded wildly, forcing herself to calm down, raised the camera hanging on her chest, fingers trembling slightly as she pressed the shutter.
Click!
In the bleak snow, the grotesque mountain of corpses was immortalized.
This was the true battlefield!
Far more impactful than the cold words and blurry images in rear reports.
They cautiously followed the guide on the main path of the outpost.
On either side of the road, soldiers in the midst of resting were visible everywhere.
Some leaned directly against the cold bone walls or curled up in wind-sheltered corners, wrapping their bodies in Qi Blood, sleeping soundly in the icy landscape, emitting soft snores.
Some quietly wiped their blood-stained weapons or ate food in small bites.
Every face showed some level of exhaustion.
But their eyes remained bright.
Deep blue and dark gray uniforms mixed together, indistinguishable.
Reporters’ cameras constantly flashed, capturing these real, unembellished post-war moments.
Tired sleeping faces, blood-stained blades, silently passed water bottles among comrades...
Every detail was immensely valuable.
The team was finally guided to a relatively open area near the core command zone with a better view and stopped.
Leader Chen Tao quietly warned the reporters to wait there temporarily.
Not to wander off and await further arrangements.
Just then, the door to the command hall in front creaked open from inside.
Chu Kuanglan strode out with large steps.
He had just stepped out of the doorway, habitually scanning the resting troops and new guard posts nearby.
When his gaze swept over the gathered reporters.
Initially paying no heed.
However, when his sight unconsciously caught a petite figure in a thick white cold-weather suit, checking camera lenses among the reporters...
He subconsciously exclaimed aloud.
"Wife?"
"How could you be here?!!"
