Chapter 1145: Immortal Inspector

The Immortal Inspector in front of Kyle and Sebastian was a smaller man with black hair and silver eyes. Naturally, he wore the uniform of the Array of Stars. Yet, the truly surprising thing was his aura.

It was profoundly deep. The way the Energy around him moved felt almost magical. It was like the Cosmos bowed to him and treated him as its champion.

'There is absolutely no way that I could win against him, even if I were to become an Immortal,' Kyle thought. 'His Energy is so incredibly dense. It's almost unreasonable.'

Meanwhile, Sebastian didn't feel that much. The Immortal felt powerful to him but only a bit more powerful than Fox.

This difference in perception came from Sebastian's and Kyle's Battle-Strengths. Kyle's Battle-Strength was close enough to the Immortal that he could feel his true power, while Sebastian couldn't truly make sense of it.

On the other side, the Immortal Inspector was surprised by Kyle's aura. While Kyle kept his aura suppressed with his Law of Karmic Causality, the suppression wasn't in a binary state of on or off. The more powerful the other side was and the more they knew about the Laws of Karma, the more of his true aura would leak.

The relative weakness of the normal Inspector had given Kyle the impression that the Array of Stars might not be filled with talented individuals, but the Immortal Inspector's aura had changed his impression again.

Normal Inspectors only needed a high Realm to do their jobs. They didn't need to have a high Battle-Strength. Yet, Immortal Inspectors were different. Their job was to inspect and hunt rogue Immortals, and they were supposed to do so without any backup or with help from more Avatars. This required a significant level of power and Battle-Strength.

They needed to know enough about the Laws of Karma to inspect someone's Karma, and they needed to have an Imposing Law with a quality of 90% or more. Additionally, they needed to have at least two Level 8.5 Laws on top of their Imposing Law. They also needed at least a Minor Hero Aura.

Yet, the most important thing was that they needed to have a perfected Momentum. At some point, as long as someone improved their Momentum, they would reach perfected Momentum. At that level, Momentum reached a permanent peak that scaled with someone's Realm and Battle-Strength. This was especially important since this gave the Immortal Inspector much more freedom.

Since they no longer needed to maintain their Momentum, they could flee from a winnable battle, use external means, or call for backup.

Lastly, the Immortal Inspector needed to be an Ascending Immortal or stronger. There were nine levels in the Universe Realm, and an Ascending Immortal was at the seventh level.

Every Immortal Inspector was outstanding. All of them had managed to traverse the Immortal Dimension several times. They had no weaknesses. One had to remember that all of these requirements were just the bare minimum. Almost all of the Immortal Inspectors surpassed at least one of these requirements.

Due to the Immortal Inspector's immense power, Kyle couldn't hide his aura fully. As a result, the Immortal Inspector saw Kyle as a rare genius. In his mind, he believed that Kyle even had the talent to one day become an Immortal Inspector himself. This meant that Kyle was at least within the top 10% of Immortals in terms of talent. That was nothing to scoff at.

"I'm Immortal Inspector Valien," he transmitted to Kyle and Sebastian. "You wish to use our Teleportation Formation Array, correct?"

"That's correct," Kyle answered.

"Do you have any sort of identification?" Valien asked.

"We don't," Kyle replied.

"Do you know a person with an identification who can confirm your identities?" Valien asked.

There was one...

The Red Witch.

However, the Red Witch was secretly part of the Cult of Final Fate, and Kyle didn't want her to know about Red's team of Avatars. Because of that...

"No, we don't," Kyle answered.

The Immortal Inspector narrowed his eyes. How could two Ascendants not know anybody else? How could they have attained the resources necessary to advance without making any allies?

"While we do not restrict travel, we also must make sure that no members of the Cult of Final Fate make use of our resources. If you do not have identification, you need to obtain it. You may attain identification in one of two ways. Joining an Organization will grant you an identification. Alternatively, you may request one from an Empire."

"We are planning on doing just that," Sebastian answered. "We are here because we want to travel to the Wargod's Peak to gain an identity."

"That is an option," the Immortal Inspector said, "but I would advise against it. Merely having an identification will not help you in the Immortal Dimension. Without a backer, you are without protection. This is especially bad within the territories of the Wargod's Peak. Adept Immortals and Minor Immortals regularly prey on New Immortals. Only a powerful backer can ensure that you will only face Immortals close to your level."

"The Array of Stars also operates within the Wargod's Peak. If you wish, you may join as an affiliate member. You will benefit from our protection without having any duties or responsibilities. You only need to wear our affiliate emblem."

Kyle already knew about this affiliate program. The Immortal Inspector hadn't lied. He truly wouldn't need to do anything. In fact, he would even gain access to a vast marketplace. There were no detriments to joining.

Immortals were valuable, and the Array of Stars was willing to support all of them without asking for anything in return. This created goodwill while also showing the advantages Immortals would gain by joining the Array of Stars. However, the most important parts would remain locked unless they actually joined the Array of Stars. One could call the affiliate program a membership demo.

"Thank you for the offer, but we can't accept," Kyle answered.

"I can assure you," the Immortal Inspector replied, "the Array of Stars can grant you more benefits than the Wargod's Peak. The Wargod's Peak focuses on natural refinement and mass. They will not invest anything in you."

"We're not joining the Wargod's Peak," Kyle answered. "We are attaining identification."

"Which power do you intend to join?" Valien asked. "We can match their offer or even improve upon it."

"We won't join anyone," Kyle answered. "We'll make our own Organization. That is also why we're traveling to the Wargod's Peak. Their lenient rules benefit us."

Valien's brows furrowed. "You're certain? Do you know about the dangers?"

"We're certain," Sebastian answered from the side.

Valien tried to convince them to join the Array of Stars for a while longer, but they kept refusing.

In the end, Valien was forced to concede. He wanted Kyle to join the Array of Stars, but he hadn't convinced him. Since the two of them didn't have any identification, Valien was technically allowed to kill them, as long as he believed that they were a threat.

However, Kyle had a True Hero Aura, while Sebastian had a Minor Hero Aura. Moreover, they had already undergone their Fusion, and they didn't pose a threat to Valien. Killing them would severely damage his Karmic Luck.

"You may use the Teleportation Formation Array for the sake of attaining identification, but your destinations will be fixed," Valien explained. "I must warn you, all of your available destinations are under special protection and safeguards. You may enter without an identification, but you won't be allowed to leave without attaining one. You must also enter these Planets with all of your Avatars. Keeping an Avatar hidden is grounds for execution. Are you sure you want this?"

Kyle and Sebastian nodded.

"Very well," Valien answered. "In this case, we need a payment of two Grade Nine Energy Stones or something of equivalent value for the Teleportation Formation Array."
