Chapter 1170: Phantasmal Lightning

  • Next Chapter

The sky began to darken as the lightning dragon gathered mana from the surroundings, and lightning arched through the sky like millions of blue snakes. The golden dragon let out a mighty roar towards the sky as it tried to get up and escape, but it was forced back to the ground as thousands of subordinates climbed onto its body and held it down.

The golden dragon was shocked. Don’t these fools know that they would also die if the attack hit? The golden dragon didn’t understand what these enemies were doing. But it was obvious that the enemies didn’t care about their lives at all. It didn’t matter if they were hit by the attack! And it didn’t matter if they died! So long as they could fulfill the wishes of their King, they would gladly give up their lives!

The lightning arched through the sky like the bellows of a vengeful god, and congregated into a swirling mass of blue light that created a spinning vortex over the body of the golden dragon, and in the next moment, all the lightning fell.

BZZZZTTTT!

Phantasmal lightning was completely different from regular lightning. Jason had felt the full brunt of that attack once before, so Jason understood fully well what a fully charged Phantasmal lightning was capable of doing to a person. But even Jason didn’t expect the absolute carnage that suddenly erupted across the island. The lightning completely eviscerated the island and sent all the weaker subordinates flying through the air with electric burns travelling across their bodies. The Golden Dragon let out a massive roar as it was cooked from the inside out by the skill, and the entire region seemed to be constantly glitching with electric current flying through the air.

It took almost a full minute for the electricity to finally die down, and once that was done, Jason noticed that the Golden Dragon was alive but seriously injured. It wouldn’t take long for the subordinates to deal with it now, and Jason just told them to hurry up before he turned off his [Eye of the King] and turned to leave.

Now that Jason was done with the pirates, it was time for Jason to get back to the ship so they could continue to the next location. Jason glanced at his system to see how much he had grown since coming here.

Jason noticed that his Primordial Core had finally filled up completely. This was good. Now, all Jason needed to do was to raise his Core purity and his other stats before he could go through the process that would allow him to cross into Primordial Rank II.

But for Jason to do that, he needed to first fight and absorb more Primordial Essence. Valeria had told Jason that one of the enemies that they were going to meet on Bal’ina was a Primordial Rank II, and Jason knew that no amount of subordinates would ever allow him to match the power of a Primordial Rank II. The PRIMORDIAL Ranks weren’t like the TITAN Ranks where a TITAN Rank I might be able to stand up to a TITAN Rank II if they had enough skills or talent. There was a far larger gap within the PRIMORDIAL Ranks, and it was nearly impossible to close those gaps using things like high-ranking skills or sheer numbers.

Jason knew that the PRIMORDIAL Rank II would be able to take on every single member of Jason’s Legion on their own, and even if Jason somehow manages to overwhelm him using Resonance, there was no way Jason would be able to handle the PRIMORDIAL Rank II along with all his lackeys at the same time. The safest bet right now was for Jason himself to also raise his level to the peak of PRIMORDIAL Rank I. That way, Jason could go into Bal’ina without needing to worry about getting overwhelmed by anyone.

"Are you ready to go?"

A voice came from above, and Jason looked up to see Valeria riding on the back of his dragon, looking down at him curiously. Helios was standing on Valeria’s shoulder, and it seemed the stupid bird had gotten completely attached to her for some reason.

<Valeria good. Master bad.>

Helios sent Jason a message, and Jason clicked his tongue at the phoenix in amusement. All Jason did was play with him a little; it wasn’t that big of a deal. Jason shook his head at the childish bird, and he turned to look around the western continent. Now that Jason had caused such a massive shift in the power system of this world, Jason knew that there were a lot of people that would try to rise up as the next leader or Pirate King. It would’ve been fun to see what this world would become like in the next few years, but Jason just didn’t have that time.

Jason actually hummed in genuine surprise when he saw the rewards this time. They were genuinely really good, and Jason couldn’t deny that they would be useful. For some reason, Jason always ends up having to face dragons in one way or another, so having a skill that gave him an advantage against them was going to be nice. And the skill [Golden Fire] was even more useful. Jason had seen the sheer destruction that the skill was capable of, so Jason didn’t really care how much mana it could consume. As long as it made him stronger, Jason would feed it all the mana it wanted.
