Karin was the first to leave the window. Not because she had seen enough, at least she would never admit that was the reason.
Karin only felt that if she stayed a few more minutes, the situation might become extremely dangerous. Not because Erik was dangerous, nor because of the three Succubi inside, but because her own body was becoming harder and harder to control.
She stepped back from the wooden wall and immediately turned to stride down the hillside. The black demonic wings behind her had barely spread before folding shut again, because Karin realized that such a large movement might make noise. She could only grit her teeth and keep walking, her legs held slightly closer together than usual because the battle suit beneath had become uncomfortable.
Velyss left the window not long after. Her little notebook had been closed. She still wore a calm expression, with only the faint flush on her cheeks and her not-yet-steady breathing betraying her true state.
Karin had gone nearly twenty meters ahead before turning back. "What are you still standing there for?"
Velyss walked down the grassy slope. "Observing."
"Observing?" Karin nearly snapped. "You filled three whole pages!"
Velyss looked at her. "Four."
Karin fell silent for several seconds before gritting her teeth. "You are sicker than I thought."
Velyss did not react. She merely put the notebook into her spatial ring and looked back at the villa behind them. Light still shone through the windows, but the curtains had been drawn tighter now, and the scene inside was no longer visible.
Velyss slowly let out a breath. "Let’s go."
Karin snorted. "Of course we have to go." She turned around and quickened her pace.
Velyss watched Karin’s slightly stiff gait, her pinkish-purple eyes curving faintly. "Are you uncomfortable?"
Karin stopped at once. "No."
"I never said where you were uncomfortable."
The two black horns on Karin’s head nearly stood straight up. She spun around. "Velyss!"
Velyss calmly walked past her. "Keep your voice down."
Karin immediately remembered that they were standing outside their target’s home. She hurriedly lowered her voice, but her face turned even redder. "I’m just hot."
"Hm."
"It’s very hot on the hill."
Velyss raised her head to look at the night sky. A cold wind was blowing through the forest. Karin immediately realized she had said something stupid and could only bite down hard.
"Anyway, I’m not like those Succubi in there." Karin continued talking, as though trying to convince herself. "A bunch with no shame."
"Hm."
"They are happy even when a man toys with them like that."
"Hm."
"They even call him Master."
"Hm."
Karin grew more annoyed the more she listened. "Do you only know how to say ’hm’?"
Velyss finally turned back. "What do you want me to say?"
Karin opened her mouth, but she did not know what to say. Velyss looked at her for a few seconds before speaking softly. "Let’s get farther away before we fly."
Karin snorted and continued down the hill.
The two quickly left the villa grounds. Only when the lights behind them were almost completely obscured by the trees did Karin feel a little more relieved. At least she could no longer hear those sounds from that room.
She was just about to spread her wings when a woman’s voice suddenly rang out from above. "Where are you going?"
Karin’s body immediately stiffened. Velyss reacted faster, taking half a step back at once. One hand settled on the dagger at her waist as her gaze lifted toward the sky.
Under the moonlight, a figure floated in midair. Long golden hair fell down her back, several strands still slightly damp, while the tips swayed gently in the breeze. Her tall, voluptuous body was wrapped in nothing but a thin white towel from her chest to just above mid-thigh, enough to cover what needed covering but unable to hide the mature curves beneath it.
Her long legs were bare, her pale shoulders exposed, and her pointed Elven ears stirred slightly in the wind.
Meira was looking at them.
She had appeared in the room above the hill less than a few minutes ago. Now, she stood before them.
Karin’s expression changed at once. "You..."
Meira tilted her head. The smile on her lips was very gentle, but the blue-white arcs of lightning slowly running around her fingertips were anything but gentle.
"After peeping for so long, have the two little mice finally decided to leave?"
Karin’s eyes widened. Velyss immediately glanced toward the villa. They were already very far away.
Meira seemed to understand what she was thinking and smiled. "Don’t worry." She raised a finger to her lips. "Master is resting."
Karin’s gaze fell unconsciously upon the thin towel around Meira’s body, and then she remembered what she had just seen. Her face immediately grew hot. "Filthy Succubus."
Meira blinked. Karin pointed at her. "Don’t think we didn’t see it!"
Meira’s smile grew even brighter. "I know you saw."
Karin froze. Velyss narrowed her eyes slightly. "You knew?"
"Not from the very beginning," Meira replied naturally. "But one little mouse outside the window was moaning a little too loudly."
Karin went completely still.
Velyss slowly turned to look at Karin. Karin immediately flared up. "I did not moan!"
Meira chuckled. "Then perhaps it was the wind."
"Yes!"
"Can the wind call out ’aghh’ too?"
Karin was completely speechless. Her two black horns nearly turned as red as her face.
Meira did not continue teasing her. Instead, she slowly lowered herself until she stopped less than a meter above the ground. Her green eyes swept over both of them. "You peeped outside someone else’s home for so long without coming in to say hello. Aren’t you planning to join?"
"Join what?!" Karin snapped immediately.
Meira looked her up and down. "You two were watching very intently."
"I was investigating!"
"Hm."
"I wanted to see how that man treats Succubi!"
"Hm."
The more Karin spoke, the more she felt she was digging her own grave, so she immediately changed the subject. "Anyway, I’m not like you! The moment you see a man, you turn into something lustful, and you even willingly kneel at his feet."
The smile on Meira’s face did not disappear. If anything, it deepened. "What is wrong with me desiring my Master?"
Karin paused. The answer was so direct that she did not know how to refute it for a moment.
Meira looked down at Karin’s legs again. "But there is something I am a little curious about."
"What?"
Meira took a gentle breath. The air around her immediately moved, and a very thin current of wind brushed past Karin and Velyss. Both of them instantly had an extremely bad feeling.
Meira smiled. "If you truly do not desire him..." Her green eyes curved slightly. "...then why are you so wet underneath?"
Karin: "..."
Velyss: "..."
The forest was quiet, leaving only the sound of leaves rustling in the wind.
Karin slowly lowered her head to look at her battle suit, then immediately raised it again. "I’m not!"
Meira laughed. "I have not even said which one of you."
Karin froze completely.
Velyss immediately turned her face aside, but the flush on her cheeks had already spread to her ears. Meira looked at her. "And you?"
Velyss pursed her lips, still trying to keep her voice calm. "Hot."
Meira looked at the sky. The night wind was cold enough that the thin towel around her body was constantly fluttering. Then she looked back at Velyss.
Velyss added, "Sweat."
Meira fell silent for two seconds before finally bursting into laughter. "All right." She nodded very seriously. "Sweat."
Karin immediately pointed at her. "Don’t use that tone!"
Meira laughed for a while longer before slowly reining in her expression. "That was enough fun."
Velyss immediately sensed the change. She drew her dagger. Karin was no longer blushing either, her hands slowly lowering as dark red mana began to gather around her fingers.
Meira looked at the two of them. "How did you enter Silver Moon?"
Neither answered.
"What organization do you belong to?"
Still silence.
"Why are you following Master?"
Karin curled her lip. "Do you think I would tell you?"
Meira nodded gently. "I thought so too." She held out her hand. "Then I will take you back and ask later."
Boom!
Karin lunged forward almost immediately. Without warning, dark red mana erupted around her body. A pair of curved black short blades appeared in her hands and slashed toward Meira’s neck at the same time.
Meira remained suspended in place, merely tilting her head slightly. The two blades swept through empty air.
Karin immediately spun, her foot sweeping toward Meira’s waist. A thin layer of wind appeared.
Smack!
The kick stopped in midair.
Karin’s eyes widened. Meira had not even touched her, yet a current of wind had restrained her entire right leg.
"Slow," Meira said.
Karin gritted her teeth. "Do not underestimate me!"
Mana burst around her leg, tearing through the layer of wind. She spun again, but at that moment, Velyss had already appeared behind Meira.
There were no footsteps. The thin dagger stabbed straight toward Meira’s exposed back.
Meira raised her brows slightly. "Better."
She lifted one finger.
Clang!
The blade stopped less than five centimeters from her skin. It was not blocked by a shield, but because all the metal in the dagger suddenly trembled violently, as though an invisible hand had seized it.
Velyss immediately released the weapon. Making the decision in an instant, she spun around, both hands firing several nearly invisible threads of mana that coiled toward Meira’s wrists and ankles.
At the same time, Karin attacked from the opposite side.
The two worked together perfectly. They needed neither words nor signals. Clearly, they had fought together many times.
But their opponent was Meira.
The Elemental Lord merely watched the two rush toward her, then breathed out softly. "Sit."
Boom!
The pressure in the air suddenly surged. Karin, who was charging forward, was immediately forced into the ground, both knees slamming hard against the grass.
"Agh!"
Velyss was pulled from the air as well, but she twisted before hitting the ground, bracing herself with one hand and rolling to the side.
Fast, but not fast enough.
A bolt of lightning flashed.
Crack!
Velyss’s arm instantly went numb. Meira appeared before her, less than a meter away.
Velyss looked up. Her gaze remained calm, but the hand holding her dagger could no longer move.
Meira smiled. "You are more cautious than that little girl."
Karin’s voice immediately rang out from behind her. "I heard that!"
Boom!
Karin forcibly shattered the pressure around her, leaping out of the small crater in the ground before slashing toward Meira. Meira did not turn around. She merely lifted one hand behind her.
A bolt of lightning struck straight into the blade.
Karin immediately convulsed. All her golden hair stood up slightly as her body dropped onto the grass. She lay still for two seconds, then gritted her teeth and pushed herself back up.
"You..."
Lightning flashed again.
Karin immediately lay back down.
Meira turned around. "Still want to try?"
Karin raised her head, her red eyes almost burning. "Of course."
She was about to stand again when Velyss immediately said, "Karin."
Karin paused. Just one word, but she understood.
They could not win, at least not this way.
Meira also heard the change in Velyss’s voice. The smile on her face faded slightly. "Want to run?"
Velyss did not answer.
Meira immediately raised her hand. Wind closed in from all directions as an invisible cage began to form around them.
Karin saw it, and her gaze suddenly changed. She reached into her spatial ring.
Meira immediately sensed an unfamiliar source of energy. "Don’t."
But she was too late.
A strange sphere appeared in Karin’s hand. It was unlike an ordinary crystal, assembled from countless small violet-black fragments. Red lines like blood vessels slowly ran through the gaps between them.
Meira frowned the moment she saw it. "What is that?"
Karin smiled. "Not telling."
She slammed her palm against the surface of the sphere.
Boom!
Violet-black energy immediately erupted. The air around Karin and Velyss began to twist.
Meira immediately clenched her hand. Wind pressed in, but the moment it touched the violet-black energy, every current of air was pulled off course. A small black vortex appeared in the space between the trees.
Meira’s expression changed. "Space?"
Karin immediately grabbed Velyss’s wrist. Velyss continued looking at Meira. In the instant before she was drawn into the vortex, her eyes swept down to the thin white towel around the Elemental Lord’s body, then back to Meira’s face, which was still faintly flushed.
Velyss pursed her lips. "Next time..."
Meira raised her brows. "What?"
Velyss was silent for half a second. "...wear more."
Karin immediately turned toward her. "You were still looking?!"
Velyss: "..."
The vortex surged. Meira immediately swung her hand, and a bolt of lightning struck down.
Boom!
But it only pierced empty air.
Karin and Velyss vanished. The vortex closed immediately afterward, and the forest returned to silence.
Meira hovered in midair. The smile on her face had vanished completely.
She stared at the place where the two had disappeared for a long time. A trace of violet-black energy still lingered in the air. It was not an element, did not resemble Succubus mana, nor was it anything she had ever seen in her hundreds of years of existence.
Meira reached out with one finger and touched the remaining energy.
At once, an extremely unpleasant sensation traveled up her fingertip.
She withdrew her hand. Her green eyes slowly narrowed. "What is this..."
The wind blew past, and the final trace disappeared.
Meira looked for several more seconds before turning toward the villa on the hill. At first, she had only wanted to catch the two little peeping mice and bring them back for a few questions, but now things were different.
Two unfamiliar Succubi. An item capable of tearing open space. A source of energy she had never encountered.
And most importantly, those two had clearly come because of Erik.
Meira pulled up the thin towel that had slipped slightly from her shoulder, her gaze gradually turning cold. "It seems..." she murmured. "...I need to tell Master."
Then she remembered Karin’s expression when Meira had asked why she was wet underneath. The corners of Meira’s lips curved again.
"But that..." She let out a quiet laugh. "...can wait until later."
