Chapter 77: Chapter 77: The Final Day of the Novice Period! The Judgment Alliance Officially Issues a Kill Order!
The tense expressions on everyone’s faces finally relaxed slightly.
"Pass down my orders."
The figure spoke slowly, every word dripping with murderous intent.
"Issue a wanted notice."
"The moment the Novice Continent connects to Godfall Continent, immediately launch a hunt for Tyrant."
"I want him to pay in blood for the young master and every member of the Judgment Alliance who died!"
"Additionally..."
His tone suddenly shifted.
"In the real world, mobilize every resource and every channel at our disposal. Turn over every stone if necessary. I want Tyrant’s true identity uncovered!"
"YES, SIR!!"
Everyone in the grand hall stood up and responded in unison.
...
Upper City, Third Ring District.
Inside a high-rise building constructed almost entirely of glass, several elegantly dressed women sat around an oval conference table.
Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows stretched the distinctive clear blue sky of Upper City. Filtered artificial sunlight streamed into the room, making the entire conference room appear bright yet somewhat austere.
The woman seated at the head of the table was particularly striking. A small golden crescent-shaped brooch was pinned to her sleeve.
A holographic screen floated before her, continuously replaying footage of the Judgment Alliance’s Novice Continent headquarters being swallowed by purple Dragonflame.
"The Raine Family chose the wrong person to lead this generation. An SSS-grade talent is certainly valuable, but someone without the brains to use it is still useless."
A pink-haired woman sitting beside her nodded slightly.
"Ms. Moon is absolutely right. However, that Tyrant is rather interesting as well."
"And?"
The woman at the head of the table raised an eyebrow.
"Are you suggesting we recruit him?"
"This subordinate wouldn’t dare make such a recommendation without careful consideration. I just feel that someone with such potential, if he could be brought under the Moonstring Alliance’s banner..."
"Heh."
The woman interrupted her.
"Wouldn’t that be the same as making an enemy of the Judgment Alliance?"
"Those old geezers from the Raine Family are already looking for somewhere to vent their anger. If we approach them now, are we deliberately asking for trouble?"
The pink-haired woman fell silent.
"Enough. Go inform the young master."
The woman issued her orders directly.
"Members of the Moonstring Alliance on the Novice Continent of Godfall Battlefield are forbidden from provoking Tyrant or anyone under his command."
"We’ll discuss this again after the Novice Continent merges with the Main Continent."
"Understood."
Everyone acknowledged the order.
Similar situations were unfolding within other major factions throughout Upper City.
"Chairman, if we reject the Judgment Alliance so directly, won’t that..."
"Won’t what?"
The middle-aged man glanced sideways at him.
"Have you ever heard of watching the fire from across the river? We’ll wait until the Judgment Alliance and Tyrant have settled their scores. Only then will we decide which side to support."
"Understood..."
...
Lower City.
Darcy was also sitting at a worn wooden table with peeling paint. She held a piece of dried bread that had probably been sitting there for quite some time, staring intently at the old holographic television mounted on the wall.
"According to our investigation, Augustus, the Heir Apparent of the Judgment Alliance, has been confirmed dead on Godfall Continent. However, he has not returned to the real world. This is the first such incident in a thousand years..."
She didn’t know who Tyrant was, nor did she particularly care why the various alliances were suddenly caught up in such turmoil.
Darcy simply found the images on the television deeply unsettling.
Her little brother was in that world, too.
And yet, the Novice Continent had undergone such enormous changes during this generation.
In just seven days, it would merge with the Main Continent.
With so little time, her little brother might not even have managed to recruit more than a handful of units.
And with the Novice Continent descending into such chaos, what if his honest, straightforward personality got him dragged into the conflict?
What if he ended up like that so-called Heir Apparent and never made it back?
Darcy put down the bread in her hand and walked over to the storage cabinet in the corner.
She rummaged through it and pulled out a small box wrapped in red cloth.
Inside was a copper amulet that had faded almost completely white. It was the protective charm their mother had taken them to a temple to pray for when they were children.
She held the amulet in her hand for a long time, quietly repeating the same words over and over.
"John, nothing else matters. Just make sure you come back safely."
...
[Godfall Battlefield Standard Time: 07:12:03.]
John opened his eyes.
He stared at the ceiling light for a couple of seconds before slowly sitting up in bed.
There were still plenty of notifications on his system panel. He casually dismissed them and opened the World Channel to take a look.
The online player count ticked upward briefly.
[Current Number of Surviving Lords Across the Server: 11,247,831 / 124,231,034]
"Last day already, and the survival rate has actually fallen below ten percent."
John muttered to himself before scrolling further down.
The World Channel was bustling with activity. Messages were flying past at an incredible speed, and naturally, almost everyone was discussing what had happened yesterday.
"The Judgment Alliance headquarters got completely flattened! Brothers, am I dreaming?!"
"Tyrant is an absolute monster! Yesterday, I was still worrying about how to deal with the Beast Tide, and what would happen if the Judgment Alliance came after us afterward. Then I woke up today and found out the Judgment Alliance is gone! I’ve never felt so relieved!"
"Alright, don’t get too excited, guys. The Novice Period ends tomorrow at noon. Once we merge with the Main Continent, how are small fries like us supposed to survive?"
"Exactly... I’ve heard that even an ordinary veteran Lord on the Main Continent has thousands of years of accumulated resources and experience. Aren’t our little armies basically going to be cannon fodder?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? Worst case, we find some remote corner and keep a low profile. We’re already safely in the top ten percent. We can just develop slowly after reaching the Main Continent."
"Easy for you to say. The native factions on the Main Continent aren’t just sitting around doing nothing. My cousin was part of the previous generation. His territory was wiped out on his third day there."
"Seriously? Then I’d better start thinking about a backup plan..."
After reading that far, John closed the World Channel.
Leaning against the headboard, he unconsciously began thinking.
Of course, he knew considerably more than the others.
After all, in his previous life, he had also been a player who survived on the Main Continent.
The accumulated power of those established factions was unfathomably deep.
The high-star units, Heroes, and items held by those veteran Lords were far beyond anything the current generation of novice players could even imagine.
But that wasn’t even the most important part.
The most important thing was that humans accounted for less than one-tenth of the population in Godfall Battlefield.
Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Dragonkin, Undead, countless Demi-Human races, and all kinds of native intelligent species could be found throughout the continent.
In his previous life, John had often witnessed wars breaking out between different Lords and kingdoms across the world.
There was even one particularly amusing incident.
A Lord had gotten into a conflict with a Dwarven faction.
They fought for three whole years without either side managing to achieve a decisive victory.
However, the corners of John’s mouth slowly curled upward.
"I have a Relocation Token."
If things became too difficult, he could simply run away, relocate somewhere else, and start developing all over again.
Besides, he hadn’t spent an entire previous lifetime on the Main Continent for nothing.
Even at that moment, several remote locations with decent resources and no major factions keeping an eye on them immediately came to mind.
As long as he handled things properly, the risks wouldn’t be particularly high.
He wasn’t even especially worried about facing the Judgment Alliance.
He had the Cloak of Concealment. As long as he didn’t reveal himself voluntarily, there was no guarantee they would recognize him.
Having finished his calculations, John stretched lazily and swung his legs out of bed.
By the time he had washed up and pushed open his bedroom door, the dining hall on the castle’s first floor was already bustling with activity.
Sylvie was wearing an apron, moving back and forth between the long dining table and the kitchen. Her wine-red hair swayed gently as she directed several villagers to carry out plate after plate of freshly prepared breakfast.
