Summoner of Nightmares

Epilogue — The Story Has Only Begun

  • Next Chapter

The war was far from over.

Across countless worlds, many kingdoms still burn beneath black banners.

Entire civilizations vanish into silence.

Others continue to desperately cling to life behind walls that could not stand forever.

Yet…

For the first time since the Hollow King Cult begun its conquest…

Hope had a champion on its side.

⸻

The Nightmare Hotel stood proudly against the crimson sunset.

Its walls still bore scars from the invasions.

Broken stones on the gate had already been replaced.

New towers stretched higher than before.

The laboratories expanded deeper underground.

Children laughed in the school courtyard.

Merchants once again filled the Market.

Smiths hammered fresh armor.

Doctors hurried through the medical wing.

The hotel was no longer merely a fortress.

It had become a nation.

A true sanctuary.

A promise of a brighter tomorrow.🌽

⸻

Gene Gingerline stood upon the highest balcony.

Far below…

Hundreds of lights glowed throughout the hotel.

He smiled.

Not because the war had been won.

But because they had survived.

Athena’s calm voice echoed through his helmet.

“Construction of Laboratory Seven is complete.”

“Library expansion ninety-four percent complete.”

“New refugee arrivals continue.”

Gene laughed softly.

“There’s never a quiet day.”

“There likely never will be.”

He looked toward the horizon.

Somewhere…

Another pocket world needed saving.

⸻

Inside the chapel…

Mother Sarah knelt in silent prayer.

Behind her stood the sisters.

Candles illuminated the stone floor.

Behind them bowed in prayer, knelt countless followers to the faith.

The horrors that slept within the Dark Chapel rested peacefully.

For now…

⸻

Deep below…

The Caretaker silently walked the containment halls.

Every locked door remained sealed.

Every forbidden artifact remained under watch.

He eventually stopped before two hidden chambers.

Inside of one…

The Egg of Calamity rested.

Inside another…

Queen Rosanelle quietly awaited her judgment.

The guardian simply continued his patrol.

Nothing escaped his notice.

⸻

Elsewhere…

Lilith sat cross-legged upon a mountain of treasure she insisted was “organized.”

Gold coins.

Ancient books.

Broken relics.

Magic rings.

Shiny rocks

A few buttons.

She proudly held up another mysterious artifact.

“I found another one!”

Jesse Belle sighed.

“…Please let someone identify it before pressing any switches this time.”

Lilith lowered her finger as she rolled her eyes.

“…you’re no fun.”

⸻

Prince or rather King Cassian drilled hundreds of new recruits.

Every day…

More summoners that became refugees volunteered to help.

More kingdoms were joining together.

The resistance was no longer merely surviving.

It was becoming an active growing army.

⸻

Selene quietly stood within the Dreamseer Garden.

The Black Gem rested within her ring.

The Great Teacher slept peacefully inside.

Waiting.

Learning about the current world.

.

The shattered Mirror of Fantastic Illusions floated nearby.

Four fragments joined together to make a fourth of the mirror.

Pieces still missing.

She gently touched its surface.

Silver light rippled across its blurred surface.

.

⸻

Far beneath endless oceans…

Something ancient stirred.

Not yet awakened.

Not yet free.

Waiting.

⸻

Within the Hollow King’s prison…

Another crack spread across the crystal.

No one noticed.

⸻

Far beyond…

Somewhere forgotten by history…

A  conscious echoed through endless darkness.

Not dead.

Not alive.

Simply…

Waiting…

⸻

Above a pyramid built from bones and steel, a tall man dressed in a priest outfit stood among a burning pier.

He put his priest robes fashioned from the flesh ‘gifted’ by fellow followers.

Brand new, sizzling hot, golden nails were driven directly into his skin to form the holding buttons.

Razor sharpened nails were already stapled uniformly into his robe so they can hold the garment neatly in place.

Blood poured freely as every slight movement caused him to feel tings of pain throughout his body.

He had to take a few deep breaths to steady himself as he enjoyed the pure extravagance of the pain.

The newest of their converted knelt behind him twitching from both extremes of pain and pleasure.

Their nerves and muscle tissue exposed to the arid air.

The Twisted priest smiled as he looked down into a portal that had been torn into the void.

He watched as the puzzle box was buried by his followers just inside of an active archeological dig site.

They would continue to grow in numbers.

The  Leviathan God had ordered them to continue to serve the horror summoner.

As long as they gathered more corrupted souls, whomever they followed did not truly matter.

All are welcome here…

⸻

Gene looked across the countless stars.

He thought about the journey.

Once a lonely man murdered in another world.

Becoming a frightening summoner.

Then a builder.

A protector.

A father.

A friend.

He had never intended to become any of those things.

He only wanted to survive.

Instead…

He had built a home.

He had given monsters a family.

He had shown frightened people that darkness itself could become a shield against something even worse.

The Nightmare Hotel no longer belonged to him alone.

It belonged to everyone who had found hope inside its walls.

And he was ready to fight to protect it till the very end.

⸻

Gene smiled.

“Welp…”

He adjusted his coat.

“I guess tomorrow we’ll save another world.”

Behind him…

The lights of the Nightmare Hotel shone like a lighthouse in an endless sea of darkness.

And somewhere beyond the horizon…

Adventure was already waiting.

The End…

…of Book One.
