Chapter 2313: Chapter 2311: [Kunlun Immortal Mountain, No Longer Exists]
[Today’s second update is delivered!]
Ye Tianchen intentionally let Bai Song go and did not kill him, hoping to follow Bai Song to see where he would go. Additionally, Bai Song guarded the so-called "Feathered People Master" boundary stele, and if he were to be killed there, some consequences would inevitably arise. By then, it would not be easy for Ye Tianchen and his companions to roam freely in Earth’s secular world!
It’s like the sentry guarding the city, if the sentry isn’t dead but actually enters, in the short term, no one can detect anything amiss. But if the sentry is killed, someone is bound to discover there’s been an intrusion, and a comprehensive search would definitely ensue!
However, when following Bai Song secretly and arriving at the former Kunlun Mountain in Earth’s secular world, Ye Tianchen was still surprised. Why would Bai Song come here? It’s important to note that Kunlun Mountain has always been a place filled with mystery, rumored to be the dwelling of Immortals!
Kunlun Mountain is the most important divine mountain in the myths of the Ancient Times, with many myths and legends related to it.
Kunlun undergoes a transition from the mythical world to the Immortal Realm.
In the myths of the Ancient Times, Kunlun was the capital city of the Heavenly Emperor on earth, guarded by the Lu Wu god with a nine-tailed tiger body. There was also a beast with four horns, somewhat like a sheep, named Tu Lin, which could eat people. The birds atop the mountain, resembling bees, were as large as mandarin ducks. There was a tree that produced yellow flowers and red fruits, with the taste of plums, seedless, called Sha Tang. Eating it grants resistance to water without drowning. Clearly, this is a peculiar world of myths.
Treasure trees and wondrous waters!
Likewise, under different scenery: Kunlun has nine layers of cities (each layer higher than the last), standing at eleven thousand one hundred fourteen steps and six inches tall. On its summit is the Wood Millet, five fathoms tall. The Pearl Jade Tree, Xuan Tree, and Undying Tree are to its west; Sha Tang, Lang Gan are desirable in the east; the Cardinal Tree (red jade tree) in the south; Green Tree, Jade Tree in the north. There are four hundred forty gates along the side. Gates spaced four miles apart, further divided into nine pure units, each unit a yard and five inches tall. There are nine wells adjoining, with jade horizontally (contraption bearing the Undying Medicine) at its northwest corner. The north gate opens to admit the wind from Buzhou. Palace (occupying an acre) and rotating chambers (adorned with jade) stand among Kunlun’s realm. Spacious garden ponds, filled with yellow water (possibly spring water), circling thrice its origin, forming the Scarlet Water (red water), drinking which grants immortality. Items needed in the Immortal World abound here, such as Undying Trees, Undying Medicine, Undying Water, etc. Decorated primarily with jade, the exotic beasts have vanished, purely an ideal Immortal Realm. It is said that earlier Immortals need not cultivate, but simply consuming these Undying items achieves the goal of Immortality.
Legend has it that Emperor Huang consumed a bubbling jade paste, transforming from a mythical hero into the leader of the Immortal World. Kunlun has long surpassed its ancient counterpart, seemingly the ancestral home of Immortals.
Central Heavenly Pillar!
Legendary Kunlun is both towering and vast, acting as the central ultimate, linking heaven and earth, offering Immortals a perfect resting place should they desire to ascend.
Kunlun Mountain holds a prestigious position in Ancient Times myths. It’s said to be the highest mountain in the land, located in the northwest, serving as the capital city of the Heavenly Emperor. Its circumference is 800 miles, rising seven or eight thousand zhang high. It harbors Wood Millet, four zhang high, requiring five people to encircle it. Each side of the mountain has nine wells, each using jade stone (note: ancient references to jade stone differ from modern exemplary stone) as railings. Each side features nine gates, with Kai Ming Beasts guarding them. What Kai Ming Beasts look like is as follows: half-human, half-beast god, with a body no smaller than a tiger, possessing nine heads with human faces, facing eastwards, standing on Kunlun Mountain, a place of many deities.
Human Clan rumors!
Kunlun Mountain connects ancient Xia, Zhou, and Qiang tribes’ activities, enjoying a mythological status akin to Greece’s Mount Olympus. Among them are mentions of dozens of mountains, with Kunlun Mountain reigning supreme. As the capital of the Heavenly Emperor, it naturally falls under the emperor’s rule. It’s said that this Heavenly Emperor is indeed Huang Di, who assigned Lu Wu to oversee Kunlun Mountain, also a half-human, half-beast form, tiger body and claws, bearing nine tails.
The protagonist of Kunlun Mountain is Mu Tianzi, who travels in a carriage drawn by eight horses to peacefully meet with The Queen Mother of the West. Upon ascending as King Mu of the Zhou dynasty, Mu Tianzi was already 50 years old, reigning for 55 years before passing, a long-lived ancient emperor. Perhaps Mu Tianzi’s longevity led to the tale of Mu Tianzi traversing four seas, encountering The Queen Mother of the West of the emperor’s platform; some claim Mu Tianzi westwards tours, granted Immortality through mana by The Queen Mother of the West, etc.
During Mu Tianzi’s western journey, a skilled craftsman named Yan Shi requested a meeting. Yan Shi crafted lifelike human figures capable of singing and dancing, earning Mu Tianzi’s praise, thus bringing him back to the palace.
Mu Tianzi’s western travels also saw someone offering a jade knife a foot long, cutting jade like mud; offerings of night-glow cups; another tale of rain for three months, halted by Mu Tianzi playing the flute... In short, this is not the historical Zhou King Mu, but a fantastical emperor of constant extraordinary encounters. Mu Tianzi’s greatest encounter was meeting The Queen Mother of the West. Mu Tianzi demonstrated utmost respect, wielding White Jade and Xuan Bi, presenting three hundred pure-colored silk ribbons. The Queen Mother of the West hosted a banquet, responding with songs. After Mu Tianzi left, he ascended Yue Mountain, inscribing these meeting events on tablets, renaming it "Mountain of The Queen Mother of the West". Subsequently, Mu Tianzi’s Immortal elevation was further embellished, with tales of The Queen Mother of the West granting Mu Tianzi a black date, which matured every hundred years, measuring two feet long. Other stories tell of Mu Tianzi’s feast with the Queen Mother, ascending into clouds or the Queen Mother personally visiting Mu Tianzi’s palace, granting pills and delicacies, ceremonially bidding farewell, then ascending clouds.
"What’s happening?" Ye Tianchen flew to Little Zhu Yan and the God Beating Bowl and asked.
The God Beating Bowl glanced at Ye Tianchen, then spoke earnestly, "This is a very secretive Rune Array, hidden in the Void. Use your Divine Thought to observe it; we’re preparing to pull out one of its threads, but if pulled incorrectly..."
"If pulled incorrectly, the entire Rune Array will activate, and by then, we’ll not only be exposed but may also suffer retaliation from this Rune Array!" Little Zhu Yan interjected.
Ye Tianchen extended a touch of Divine Thought. When his powerful Divine Thought probed out, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows. A massive Rune Net appeared before him, stretching out as far as the eye could see. Ye Tianchen couldn’t help but say, "Could this Rune Array actually be covering the entire Kunlun Mountain?"
"It’s possible, which shows that this Feathered People Master is really no pushover!" The God Beating Bowl nodded as it spoke.
"This Rune Array is not easy to break; we must be cautious!" Little Zhu Yan also spoke up.
From the attitudes of the God Beating Bowl and Little Zhu Yan, it was clear that this Rune Array, which might be enveloping the entire Kunlun Mountain, was genuinely complex. This also indicated that the Feathered People dominating Earth’s secular world were certainly not weak!
"No need to overthink; even if we trigger this array, it doesn’t matter. At worst, it’s a battle—I won’t be enslaved!" Ye Tianchen said with a stern expression.
"Since you’ve said this, I’m relieved, hehe!" Little Zhu Yan grinned mischievously, and with a furry right hand, reached into the void, slowly pulling out a string of runes!
When this string of runes was dragged out, Little Zhu Yan furrowed his brows tightly. Although Ye Tianchen had said not to fear failure, with the worst outcome being a battle, his hope was to enter quietly and gather more information first, which naturally would be the best scenario!
"Looks like luck is on our side; we’ve chosen correctly and can go in!" Little Zhu Yan laughed as he looked at the entrance formed by the runes he pulled.
"Let’s go; be cautious!" Ye Tianchen was the first to step into the black hole!
Buzz!
Buzz!
Buzz!
Buzz!
Ye Tianchen, Hu Gao, Little Zhu Yan, and the God Beating Bowl—these four entered into the Rune Array, and when they saw the scene before their eyes, they were all taken aback. Hu Gao couldn’t help but exclaim, "Is this... this the legendary Kunlun Immortal Mountain? Why do I... why do I feel like it’s the human world’s inferno?"
"Smoke rising everywhere, ruins scattered about, death casts a shadow over living beings... It seems like some are still alive, digging for something?" Little Zhu Yan glanced down and asked.
"What on earth is going on?" The God Beating Bowl also asked in confusion.
At this moment, Ye Tianchen’s Divine Thought spread out entirely, enveloping the entire Kunlun Realm. As he expected, the entire Kunlun Realm was wrapped in this Rune Array, and where his Divine Thought probed, almost none of the ground within the Kunlun Realm remained intact. It was instead covered with large pits and small gaps, dust billowing, smoke swirling—where was there even a trace of the Kunlun Immortal Mountain’s aura!
Rumble!
A loud crash resounded, causing even Ye Tianchen and the others, who were flying through the air via Qi Manipulation, to falter slightly. When they looked downward, they saw a mountain range also exploding. A group of cultivators enslaved with black iron chains rushed to the exploded mountain range, searching amidst the rubble!
"Did you see? About ten enslaved cultivator beings will be bound by a black iron chain, supervised by someone clad entirely in black robes, holding a whip—rather similar to an ancient formation from Earth’s secular world!" Hu Gao said aloud.
"That’s different. Look closely at those chains binding the cultivator beings; they have powerful runes on them that confine not only their bodies but also their Divine. A slight misstep, and they’ll be utterly annihilated, turning into a mist of blood!" Little Zhu Yan frowned and said.
