Chapter 1372 - 1371: Refusing a Toast, Forced to Drink Punishment Wine!
Chapter 1372: Chapter 1371: Refusing a Toast, Forced to Drink Punishment Wine!
Johnson pressed tight against the wall by the door and made a hand signal. Two of his men sprang to the doorway and kicked the doors of the two rooms open. The two teams surged into the rooms.
As soon as Johnson rushed into the suite, he felt a sense of unease. He stood there sizing up the whole damn presidential suite, and when the men searching the inner rooms came out to report that there was no one inside, that uneasy feeling only grew stronger.
Suddenly, one of his men picked up a small black object the size of a shirt button and held it up to his eyes to inspect it. The corner of Johnson’s eye twitched hard. The moment he took it into his own hand, a chill shot through him and he yelled like mad, "Bomb! Move!"
Boom!!!!!
After a chain of red flashes snaked past like a spirit serpent, a series of earth‑shattering blasts followed. The whole hotel collapsed like it was made of dirt, yellow dust billowed up like a giant mushroom cloud, rolling and surging straight into the blue sky.
Pane after pane of glass shattered, and the raging flames, as if they’d finally found an outlet, spewed wildly from every gap. Several West District agents guarding the door were blown backward by the powerful shockwave, slammed hard into the wall across the corridor, their life or death unknown.
The shrill wail of the fire alarm suddenly rang out. People throughout the building fell into chaos, terrified screams rose one after another, and those inside the rooms all dashed out into the street.
Jiang Cheng chuckled and said, "Ha, this is fucking awesome!"
Beside him, Ning Ci and the others saw the scene and couldn’t help grinning too. Hah, try to play us? Even without Superpower we can still turn your whole world upside down, ha ha.
"We should talk about what to do now. Clearly, if the enemy could track us here, that means Zhang Zhou is already in their hands. Our mission’s basically a wash." Jiang Cheng said, a hint of frustration flashing in his eyes. After all, this was his first time going out of district on a mission, and he hadn’t expected it to end in such a rush.
"I’ve already contacted our handler. This operation is canceled. He’ll arrange for us to return to the district." Zhang Mengmeng said. The others, hearing this, held their tongues.
Right now, the West District side had fallen into turmoil. Every department was running around like headless chickens. The chaos and loss brought by a major bombing left the West District authorities utterly on the back foot, and no one had the mood to keep an eye on Jiang Cheng’s group anymore.
Two days later, at Wushi Airport.
"Wu City, I, Jiang Cheng, am back again!" Outside the terminal, among the group of five, a young man of around thirty raised his arm and shouted.
The others immediately pulled away from him, each clearly indicating they didn’t know this idiot.
Jiang Cheng flagged down two cabs and headed straight for Qingmen headquarters. He’d been away these few days and had no idea what was going on with Jiang Qing’Er’s side.
Right now, Jiang Qing’Er’s situation really wasn’t optimistic. Aside from that night at Zhang Se Nianhua when Qingmen beat Fierce Tiger Sect and took the place, they’d been losing ground ever since. For some reason, Fierce Tiger Sect’s combat power had suddenly shot straight up. Now, not only had Qingmen lost Zhang Se Nianhua again, they’d also forfeited a bunch of other turf.
After Jiang Cheng got briefed on the current situation, he was seriously shocked. Even the robots he built weren’t a match? Looks like this Fierce Tiger Sect isn’t simple at all—at the very least, they’re definitely not as weak as they appear on the surface.
Seems I’ll have to find time to probe Qingmen’s foundations. But just then, he got a message from Fierce Tiger Sect’s Liu Zhuangshi...
Jiang Cheng pulled up in front of an old teahouse. The teahouse had a long history, said to be over a hundred years old. The rustic décor and the wave of tea fragrance that hit him made Jiang Cheng feel relaxed and refreshed.
Just as he was about to step through the door, two middle‑aged bruisers reached out and blocked him. "Brother! This place is booked. If you want tea, go somewhere else." Jiang Cheng quickly shot out his hands, grabbed both men by the hair, and slammed their heads together with force. "Bang!" Before they even knew what was happening, their two skulls cracked together hard, their eyes rolled up as they blacked out, and they crumpled to the floor. The dozen or so big guys sitting inside froze at the sight, then with a rustle rushed over.
"What the hell are you doing? Mr. Jiang is my invited guest." A cold voice rang out.
The dozen men glanced warily at Jiang Cheng, then slowly backed away. Jiang Cheng saw the speaker was in his forties, bald, with a gloomy glint in his eyes. Jiang Cheng knew this had to be Liu Zhuangshi.
Jiang Cheng sat down on the chair opposite Bald, picked up the teacup on the table and took a sip. "You were looking for me?"
Liu Zhuangshi stared hard at Jiang Cheng. After a while he suddenly burst out laughing. "Good! Good! Good! You really are a man. To see me and still stay this calm."
Jiang Cheng stood up, braced both hands on the table, and looked down at him from above. "I, Jiang Cheng, have met plenty of big shots. You, Liu Zhuangshi, don’t count for shit."
Jiang Cheng wasn’t bragging. Among the people he’d met, Liu Zhuangshi really didn’t qualify as any kind of big figure.
Liu Zhuangshi’s smile suddenly vanished, but it quickly came back. "Mr. Jiang is indeed Mr. Jiang. I, Liu Zhuangshi, respect that." He shouted, "Bring out the gift I prepared for Mr. Jiang."
One of the men behind him brought over a black briefcase and set it on another table. Liu Sheshi opened it. "There’s a check for one hundred million in here. I know you’re not short of cash, but take it—then we’re friends. Everything before, we wipe clean. Our two sects coexist in peace, well water doesn’t mix with river water. How about it?"
Jiang Cheng curled his lip. "And if I don’t take it?"
Liu Zhuangshi said icily, "Then you’re the enemy of our Tinghu Gate, the enemy of me, Liu Zhuangshi. And anyone who becomes our enemy, I’ll make sure he never has a good day for the rest of his life."
"You threatening me?"
"I’m giving you face. Don’t think that just because you’re a Superpower User you can strut around in front of me. In Wu City, no one dares ignore the face of our Zhenghu Gate. Even the Mayor Wu has to give us three points of respect. Even if you’re a Superpower User, do you dare go against the entire district?"
Jiang Cheng straightened up and said with contempt, "I know the high‑ups in the government compound have already been bought off by you. That’s why you can do whatever you want. But I have my own principles, and you lot aren’t qualified to have me, Jiang Cheng, work for you. However! If you can buy off the entire East District, buy off the top boss himself, then even if I don’t take a cent, I’ll work for you."
Liu Zhuangshi’s gaze grew darker and darker. "Mr. Jiang! Sounds like you’re refusing the toast and asking for the punishment drink?"
Jiang Cheng laughed loudly. "Toast, punishment, whatever—Liu Zhuangshi, you and Fierce Tiger Sect are nothing but trash in my eyes. I’m putting it on record right here today: I will make Fierce Tiger Sect disappear from Wu City."
Jiang Cheng finished and walked toward the door. At the threshold he suddenly turned, made a gun out of his hand, and pointed it at Liu Zhuangshi. "Bang! Remember what I said."
Watching Jiang Cheng leave, Liu Zhuangshi’s expression kept shifting. He clenched his fists so tight his knuckles cracked loudly.
"Fourth Brother! That kid is way too cocky. We should’ve kept him here just now."
Ring!
Liu Zhuangshi’s wristband chimed. "Hello? Master Qi."
A murderous glint flashed in Liu Zhuangshi’s eyes. "Understood."
"Fourth Brother! What did Master Qi want with you?"
Liu Zhuangshi said with a smile, "Master Qi ordered me to take out that punk with the surname Yang." A cold gleam flickered in his eyes. "Going up against Qingmen—no one has ever lived to tell about it."
