Chapter 1375: Chapter 1374: Godforsaken Place

Jiang Cheng stopped and said, "Ning Jing! That’s the Congo River." Ning Jing stood beside Jiang Cheng, watching the Congo River flow from afar. The water, slightly yellow but very clean, made her mood instantly improve.

"Have you been here before?" Ning Jing asked.

Jiang Cheng didn’t answer her; he couldn’t very well say he had been here in a previous life. Just then, a boy about fifteen or sixteen years old came out from a thatched hut, saw Jiang Cheng, and was startled, followed by a burst of shouting.

Jiang Cheng spoke in Spanish: "Young man! Is Jack here?" The boy nodded, "Yes!" and then pointed to a house behind him. That house was rather unusual, built in the trees.

Jiang Cheng nodded and took out a handful of sweets from his pocket, handing them to the boy. "Share these candies with your friends."

The boy took them and happily walked away. Jiang Cheng led the group toward the wooden house.

Zhang Mengmeng asked, "Why do they build their houses in the trees?"

Counting Sheep said, "The rainy season here brings heavy rainfall, and building on the ground can easily lead to flooding."

Zhang Mengmeng nodded, looking curiously at the wooden house. The roof was made of banana leaves, and green nets surrounded the walls. Climbing up the ladder, they reached a small door, which Jiang Cheng opened and ducked inside.

Inside, the room was cluttered with a few tables. On the southern side was a large bar for drinks, with a liquor cabinet full of colorful and varied bottles of alcohol. Ning Jing then realized that this was a bar.

There’s no electricity here, so an oil lamp is lit on each table. A weathered-looking man was sitting at a table alone, drinking. The wall in front of him was covered with oil paintings that didn’t quite match the vibe of the place.

It was still early in the evening, but it was almost completely dark outside, and all the oil lamps in the bar were lit, creating an unpleasant odor.

Jiang Cheng walked over to the burly man and sat down, "Hello Jack, we finally meet."

Jack looked up, his eyes brightening upon seeing Jiang Cheng, "Jiang Cheng! You’re Jiang Cheng, right?" He then turned and greeted Mount Da, Counting Sheep, and the others.

"The purpose of your visit here has already been informed to me." Jiang Cheng didn’t hesitate and poured himself a drink from the liquor in front of Jack, then sampled it and said to Ning Jing and Zhang Mengmeng, "For a long time! This must be their homemade brew; I’ve heard about it! You surely haven’t tried it, come taste it."

Zhang Mengmeng, a foodie, naturally wasn’t shy. She walked over, took the glass, and tasted it lightly, "Ah! It’s really delicious, just like a soft drink."

Mount Da and the others poured themselves a glass too. Jack laughed and said, "Don’t drink too much, or you’ll surely be unconscious!" Ning Jing nodded in agreement with Jack, recognizing the unique qualities of the drink.

Jiang Cheng gently swirled his glass and said, "Jack! Our visit this time is regarding the ’Night’ organization. You can help us with information, right?"

Jack thought for a moment and said, "The ’Night’ organization once had support from the West District, carrying out unmentionable tasks for them. Later, for certain reasons, ’Night’ broke away from the West District’s control. However, since they hold many of the West District’s dirty secrets, the West District mansion has been hunting them worldwide."

"Under pressure from the West District, Night relocated their headquarters here, but I don’t have the precise details yet." Jack paused, "Why don’t you rest here for two days, I’ll send my men to scout, and they should be able to retrieve location information."

Jack arranged a few rooms for them, intended for tourists.

After dinner, Jiang Cheng leaned against a tree, lost in thought, looking up at the night sky. Ning Jing stood a short distance away watching him. At that moment, Jack approached Jiang Cheng with a hand-drawn map.

"I’ve found them."

Jiang Cheng took the map, walked into the bar, and clapped his hands. Mount Da and the others immediately gathered around him. Jiang Cheng spread the map out on the table, glanced around, and pointed to a spot on the map, "This is a tribe, remember this place."

The five people looked carefully at Yan, and after a while, Mount Da nodded and said, "Remembered."

Jack said, "Those ruthless people killed all the original inhabitants of this tribe, and now they’ve claimed it as their own."

Jiang Cheng checked the time, "We leave in half an hour."

Counting Sheep chuckled and said, "Jack! To be able to gather this information so easily, that’s no small feat, I’m truly impressed."

Jack said, "I was spared by the East District, so for them, I’ll always give my all."

Jiang Cheng finished his drink and poured another glass, "Back then, he and a brother encountered a West District team ambush and were rescued by our men during the escape. That’s how he became one of our overseas covert lines."

Jiang Cheng explained the information obtained from their contact person. Half an hour later, except for Zhang Mengmeng, the other four were fully armed and heading out. Since Zhang Mengmeng was not a superpower user, Jiang Cheng decided to leave her with Jack for safety reasons. Zhang Mengmeng was quite reluctant but had no choice.

Two hours later, the four were five kilometers outside the tribe. "Stay hidden," Jiang Cheng ordered.

With Counting Sheep there, they didn’t have to worry about water issues. Moreover, Counting Sheep used his superpower to mix the nearby sand into mud, and then Mount Da utilized his superpower, controlling the mud to temporarily form a shelter resembling an air raid shelter, ensuring Jiang Cheng and the others were very secure here.

Jiang Cheng was considering how to sneak into the camp when suddenly, Mount Da spoke.

"Someone’s coming, four people, carrying heavy weapons."

Soon, light footsteps and voices were heard overhead, "Damn it! We walked so far today and gained nothing. This lousy place has no good drinks, no beauties, I wonder what the boss is thinking hiding in this godforsaken place." The voices gradually reached the ears of Jiang Cheng and the others.

"Hey! Zack, you drunkard, stop complaining. If you want to leave, nobody’s stopping you." A nearly two-meter tall white man spoke sourly to Zack.

Zack turned and grabbed the white man’s collar, "Rasia! You bastard, I’ll crush you into meat scraps and bury you in this sand!"

Rasia suddenly raised his hand and punched Zack on the face, "You drunkard, try causing trouble for me again!"

What puzzled Jiang Cheng and the others was that the other two people didn’t seem inclined to intervene but rather moved aside, "Zi Abu! I bet a hundred US Dollars that Rasia can’t beat him."

Zi Abu looked at Zack and Rasia, "I bet Rasia knocks out his front teeth." He then shouted, "Rasia, you drunkard, make sure to win this time; I’ve lost thousands betting on you winning so many times before."
