Chapter 1517: Chapter 1507: Address

Just then, an intelligence officer from the West District in a green uniform came running over. "Report, Chief, our intel staff just found that our network system seems to have been hacked, but we can’t find the intrusion source." The technician’s tone carried a trace of urgency; he was clearly very anxious.

"What do you mean ’seems’? Go make it clear and then report back to me, Zhao!" the head of West District Intelligence said. In his eyes, he owned the most powerful cyber?security system in the world. How could someone hack into their network and they still not even know the source?

A moment later, that same technician hurried back again. He saluted the chief at the console and said, "Chief, it’s confirmed. Our network was hacked by an unknown user. Our cyber?security staff are now investigating and repairing it."

"What?" As he spoke, the chief headed toward the cyber?security section. Just who the hell was this, to actually break into their network system?

"What’s going on?" The intel chief came to the security team and asked. "Report, Chief, according to our preliminary scan, earlier there was a network source that hacked into our system and accessed our database. We’re now doing everything we can to repair it."

Hearing the cyber?security officer’s report, the chief’s face darkened like a storm cloud.

Hearing the cyber?security officer’s report, the chief’s face darkened like a storm cloud. He hadn’t expected that the cyber?security department under his command would actually be hacked.

"Notify the tech department immediately. I want every security risk eliminated at the fastest possible speed. This concerns regional secrets!" the head of the West District Intelligence Department said harshly.

"Yes, we’ll move at once!" Seeing how furious the chief was, his subordinates didn’t dare drag their feet and hurriedly started working.

Soon, a group of technical security personnel crowded in front of the control desk, fingers flying over the keyboards. Time was everything; they had to eliminate the threat as fast as possible. The longer they dragged this out, the greater the threat to regional secrets and security!

But every technician’s face was full of worry. After nearly ten minutes, one tech walked up to the chief, trembling. "Chief, we just tried. It’s very hard to remove this threat. Everyone’s still trying to find a way..." He looked utterly miserable.

"What? What the hell are you all good for? Get it fixed, now!" The chief was livid at his subordinate’s words.

"Yes, sir!" The technician rushed off, terrified of provoking the chief any further. On Jiang Cheng’s side, he was also on his computer, engaged in a cyber game of cat and mouse with the West District’s tech team. Glancing at the screen, Jiang Cheng’s lips curled into a strange smile.

"Heh, you still want to trace me? Keep dreaming." Jiang Cheng smiled faintly, fingers moving nimbly.

Over in the West District, the network techs were swamped, more than a dozen people staring unblinking at their monitors. They were under the chief’s death order: they had to eliminate the danger, or the consequences would definitely be military tribunal.

As time dragged on, the duel between Jiang Cheng and the West District techs continued. But after a while, Jiang Cheng didn’t want to waste any more time. Keeping this up was pointless—might as well go all the way.

Jiang Cheng directly detonated the intrusion seed he’d planted in the West District’s network system. Instantly, on the West District’s side, cold sweat broke out on everyone’s backs.

"Chief... that Calligrapher just detonated the intrusion seed. All the critical data and files in our network system have been destroyed..." A technician came to the chief, stammering as he spoke.

"What? What good are you people? Useless eaters!" Hearing such bad news, the chief exploded at his subordinates. They had already had their secret files intercepted, and now the entire network system had been destroyed as well. So much data—such a priceless asset—wiped out just like that?

The more the chief thought about it, the angrier he got. "All of you, get moving. No matter what, we’re tracking this guy down today!" he bellowed. After suffering an attack like this, his face was flushed with rage. If he couldn’t have peace, he sure as hell wasn’t going to let the other side have it either!

"Yes! We’ll go trace the hacker’s IP address right away!" The techs responded firmly and hurried back to work.

On Jiang Cheng’s side, he was of course aware of the danger. Seeing that the West District techs had already started tracing his IP address, he couldn’t afford to be careless. If the West District headquarters tracked down his IP, it would definitely bring a lot of trouble.

Then a thought flashed through Jiang Cheng’s mind: if he kept playing this cat?and?mouse game so they couldn’t find his IP, they would never let it go. That would waste too much of his time. Better to fabricate a fake IP address and let them slowly chase that.

"Heh." Jiang Cheng laughed smugly. Once he decided, he acted. He quickly typed a block of code on his computer, changing his real IP address into one located somewhere else.

"Heh heh, you guys just take your time digging, hahahaha." Jiang Cheng chuckled smugly, then shut down the computer. "Man, it’s been a hectic stretch. One thing after another, I haven’t had any time to rest. Time for a good break. Who knows, there might be some emergency waiting for me in the next couple of days." With that, Jiang Cheng got ready to take a shower and have a proper rest.

Back at the West District headquarters, the network techs were still operating like their lives depended on it, determined to dig out Jiang Cheng’s IP address. But they had no idea that Jiang Cheng had already swapped his IP for a fake one.

After hurriedly working for more than ten minutes, a technician jumped to his feet and excitedly called out to the chief not far away: "Report, Chief! We’ve found the hacker’s IP address!" His voice was full of delight as he made his report.

"Good!" The chief at West District headquarters was also overjoyed. That hacker had caused such severe damage to their network system; there was no way they were going to let him off!

As he finished speaking, a cold glint flashed in the chief’s eyes. "Track down the intruder’s exact location. Once you have it, report to me. I’ll make him pay the price!" he shouted to his men.

"Yes, we’ll have the exact location any moment now!" Hearing the chief’s words, the techs got busy again.

After speaking, the chief picked up a radio from beside him. "Calling Special Action Group: the IP address of the intruder who hacked our network system has been located. I’ll be arranging related operations shortly. All units stand by and prepare to move," the chief said through gritted teeth.

"Hmph! Just you wait." The chief’s icy gaze said it all. But they had no idea the so?called exact IP address they’d found was nothing but a fake location Jiang Cheng had set up... Very soon they would discover that this IP address actually belonged to an organization they’d long been working with.

Happy, relaxed moments always pass so quickly. In no time, Jiang Cheng had already been resting for almost three hours. Suddenly, the phone rang, jolting him awake.
