Jiang Cheng furrowed his brow. His mind was already filled with anxiety and anger, after all, he had narrowly escaped a threat to his own life. How could he speak calmly with Mu Yu?

Mole noticed the tension between Jiang Cheng and Mu Yu and suddenly felt awkward. He thought Jiang Cheng might be in the wrong, so he stepped forward to ask.

Jiang Cheng gently shook his head and then said to Mole, "It’s nothing, it’s getting late. Aren’t you all going to rest?" Jiang Cheng casually grabbed his pajamas from the hanger and spoke indifferently, showing a trace of impatience. The intention to get them to leave was clear.

Mole had worked with Jiang Cheng for so long that he understood Jiang Cheng’s personality, so hearing his words, Mole decided not to bicker. Knowing Jiang Cheng was in a bad mood, he felt bad staying.

After saying that, Jiang Cheng bid everyone goodbye and returned to his room, feeling exhausted and craving a hot shower to wash away his fatigue.

Jiang Cheng entered the bathroom and turned on the hot water. The sound of the rushing water and the steam were soothing. Yet he had no intention of showering; instead, he climbed onto the bathroom rod.

At this moment, Wang Hua was planning to assassinate Jiang Cheng, but upon entering the hotel room, he discovered Jiang Cheng wasn’t there.

Wang Hua felt very strange from the depths of his heart; he didn’t know where Jiang Cheng had gone.

Wang Hua began searching Jiang Cheng’s room. In fact, he had followed Jiang Cheng to this hotel, so how could there be nothing here?

Just then, Jiang Cheng suddenly emerged from the bathroom. Wang seeing this scene was startled and subconsciously pressed the trigger of his handgun. But in that second, Wang Hua suddenly got shot; Jiang Cheng smirked. He had already modified the weapon’s structure. This new weapon was powerful but had a complex structure. The modification was well done.

Wang Hua let out a scream before collapsing to the ground. Jiang Cheng rushed forward to check but found Wang Hua was barely alive.

Jiang Cheng sighed softly, knowing Wang Hua’s plight was his own doing, so he didn’t offer much sympathy.

Jiang Cheng took out his phone and called Mu Yu, "Hey, Wang Hua is gravely injured; he might not make it!" Mu Yu was shocked by Jiang Cheng’s words, and immediately headed to the hotel where Jiang Cheng was.

Mu Yu pushed open Jiang Cheng’s room door, seeing Wang Hua severely injured and tied up. Mu Yu looked over Wang Hua’s body and then turned to Jiang Cheng, "Jiang Cheng, what happened?"

"He tried to kill me," Jiang Cheng said calmly.

What?! Mu Yu was incredulous and then calmed down, hesitatingly, "Could it be, Wang Hua..." "Yes, back when Captain Wang used 3D technology to track down suspects..."

He investigated the internal personnel of Mo Xiao and discovered the suspect wasn’t someone from Mo Xiao. Jiang Cheng spoke with a bittersweet smile, "Of course it’s not someone from Mo Xiao, because this person is right by us, a friend."

"I still can’t believe it, why did he do it?" Mu Yu remained puzzled.

Well, only he knows for sure. I initially couldn’t believe it myself, but I overheard his conversation with Mo Xiao. They seemed to be making a deal. Luckily, I prepared in advance; otherwise, I’d be the one lying underground now.

What do we do now?

"First, take him back to interrogate him, see if we can find Mo Xiao’s whereabouts. Though I estimate the chances are slim."

Wang Hua slowly opened his eyes, sensing a bright light. He wanted to shield it with his hands, but found they were tied up. He sat up and looked around, recalling last night’s events. Knowing Jiang Cheng suspected him for a while, his identity was completely exposed now.

He noticed a figure in front of him and looked up to see that it was Mu Yu. "Wang Hua, you’re finally awake."

Mu Yu crouched down, facing Wang Hua, "Tell me, why attempt to assassinate Jiang Cheng? And where is Mo Xiao now?"

Wang Hua glanced at Mu Yu, maintaining silence. Mu Yu felt frustrated at his stubbornness. "Wang Hua, we’re brothers, don’t make more mistakes." Then he turned and walked away.

Wang Hua, watching Mu Yu’s departing figure, let out a cold laugh, then lay down again and closed his eyes to rest.

Mu Yu entered a room where Jiang Cheng and Ou Shu were sitting. He sat down quietly, Mole came over: "How did it go, did he confess?"

"Judging by his demeanor, no, he didn’t," Ou Shu showed as Mu Yu shook his head, Mole withdrew.

The three fell into contemplation when a team member walked in, "Jiang Cheng, we checked Wang Hua’s past and discovered this isn’t Wang Hua at all."

Jiang Cheng had already suspected this possibility and raised an eyebrow, "Then where is the real Wang Hua?"

"I don’t need to say; you should have guessed. The real Wang Hua, that college student, was assassinated, and his body was found in an abandoned factory in the suburbs. This person here, codenamed K."

There’s something else you need to know." Jiang Cheng nodded, signaling for him to continue. The team member went on, "The order from above is clear; K committed a capital crime and is sentenced to death, execution tomorrow."

"Understood. Since there’s nothing else, we’ll leave now." Mu Yu and Mole saw Jiang Cheng rise and followed suit, leaving together.

Back at the hotel, Jiang Cheng and Mu Yu sat quietly on the sofa, calm, while Mole couldn’t sit still, pacing back and forth.

Jiang Cheng was getting a headache from Mole’s pacing, leaned back and couldn’t help but speak, "Mole, stop pacing, it’s giving me a headache."

Mu Yu nodded in agreement, "Me too, relax a bit buddy."

Mole, seeing their reactions, became more anxious, slightly agitated, "Jiang Cheng, K will be executed soon, he surely won’t just wait for death. I think he will act, most likely escape. If he succeeds, his first target will be you!"

Mu Yu considered Mole’s words and suggested to Jiang Cheng, "Jiang Cheng, Mole’s concern isn’t unfounded. How about I deploy more people to keep him under surveillance?"
