Super Rich by Doing as You Please
Chapter 651 - 289: Woman, Are You Whispering Sweet Nothings to Me?
"Oh?"
Xu Yun looked at Gu Heng and asked, "What can I do for you, President Gu? If it’s something I can help with, I certainly will."
Gu Heng was speechless.
’How the tables have turned.’
’A mere clerk from his company had, in the blink of an eye, become someone he had to suck up to.’
’But when you’re in a bind, you have to bow to circumstances.’
’If he couldn’t get his cash flow back on track, his company would be completely wiped out.’
’And there wasn’t enough time to get a loan from another bank.’
He took a deep breath and said in a much more amicable tone, "President Xu, I hope you can go easy on me with the bank loan. Please, cut me some slack."
"You must be joking, President Gu. It’s not like I own the bank. I can’t interfere with them."
"But you can influence them."
Gu Heng sounded resigned. "If they weren’t afraid of offending you, they wouldn’t be holding up my loan."
Although he had no idea why the bank was afraid of offending Xu Yun.
But that’s what Gao Xing had told him.
As long as he could persuade Xu Yun to give the nod, the funds would be approved immediately.
"You give me too much credit."
Xu Yun said, "There’s truly nothing I can do about this."
"Xu Yun."
Gu Heng snapped, "Even if you don’t want to help me, can’t you at least think about Su Mu?"
Su Mu quickly cut in, "Gu Heng, I can handle my own problems. This has nothing to do with him."
"What about her?"
Upon hearing that, Xu Yun frowned in confusion. "Tell me. Maybe I’ll change my mind."
"She had a huge falling out with her family over you, and her company is about to go public. Right now, there’s a struggle for control."
Gu Heng explained, "Right now, she doesn’t have enough shares to be the largest stakeholder. Even with President Ma’s 10%, what if Su Zhiqiang wins him over?
I hold 3% of her family’s company shares. If I’m willing to transfer them to Su Mu, she’ll have 45%—the same amount as the old man.
That way, she’ll at least be in an unassailable position!"
"Is that all?"
After listening, Xu Yun stood up nonchalantly. "I thought it was something serious. You gave me a scare.
Isn’t her family’s company about to go public?
As far as I know, once a company goes public, the original shareholders’ ownership is diluted, and everyone’s stake gets smaller."
Xu Yun was quite clear on this point.
Back when he was at Gu Heng’s company, he used to fantasize about how much money he’d make if the company went public and he owned founder’s stock.
When a company lists, it needs to issue new shares to the public, which leads to the dilution of the original shareholders’ stakes.
Specifically, the shares issued are typically no less than 25% of the total share capital after the offering.
For example, if shareholders held 70% of a company with a total share capital of 100 million and then 25 million new shares were issued for the IPO, the original shareholders’ stake would become 70 million out of 125 million total shares, or 56%.
Gu Heng knew what Xu Yun was implying and sneered, "You can’t be thinking of waiting until after the IPO to buy up a ton of shares on the market, can you?"
"That’s right. Why not?"
Xu Yun said nonchalantly, "When the time comes, I’ll just buy up every single share on the market in a flash. That way, the company will be Su Mu’s."
"Easy for you to say. Do you have any idea how much that would cost?"
Gu Heng scoffed disdainfully, "Such big talk. You’re completely clueless."
"Is that so? How much could it cost me?"
Xu Yun said mockingly, "Tens of millions? A few hundred million? A few billion? Sorry, but I have it all!"
Gu Heng was left speechless.
’A few hundred million? A few billion?’
’Who the hell do you think you are?!’
Of course, Gu Heng didn’t believe him. He figured Xu Yun was just running his mouth, with no intention of negotiating in good faith.
"You’re a lunatic. I’m done talking to you."
Frustrated, Gu Heng turned to Su Mu. "My offer hasn’t changed. As long as you can persuade Xu Yun to put in a word with the bank, I’m willing to sell you these 3% of shares for a cheap price."
"Are you done talking?"
Xu Yun pointed toward the door and smiled. "There’s the door. See yourself out."
