Chapter 1473 - 1476: Competing for the Jade Buddha

"Brother Feng, why wouldn’t you let me really argue it out with that stinking woman? I’ve honestly never seen such a self-righteous bitch. She’s just being kept, and she really thinks she’s some kind of princess. If you’d let me talk to her, I’d definitely curse her so hard she’d be too ashamed to keep living in this world!" Zhu Xiuyue pouted and said viciously.

"Didn’t I say it already... I’m in a hurry..." Lin Feng chuckled and didn’t say much more to Zhu Xiuyue, so as not to add fuel to the fire.

Hearing Lin Feng say that, Zhu Xiuyue could only lower her flags and stow her drums, temporarily suppress the anger in her belly, and keep helping Lin Feng pick out gifts.

Lin Feng and Zhu Xiuyue went through three or four specialty stores that sold expensive gifts, bought quite a few things, and then walked into a jewelry store, planning to choose some suitable accessories for elders... Lin Feng knew that although Tang Rou’s mother was abroad, she still had a grandmother who wasn’t that old yet, and Lin Feng was planning to buy a gift for this grandma he’d never met.

"With Tang Rou’s family background, her grandma definitely wouldn’t look twice at ordinary gold and silver jewelry. Diamonds aren’t really suitable for old folks to play with either; the best gift would be jade..." Zhu Xiuyue explained to Lin Feng, "They say gold and silver have a price, jade is priceless; men wear Guanyin, women wear Buddha. Brother Feng, just pick a suitable jade Buddha for Grandma Tang..."

Jade Buddha? As soon as he heard Zhu Xiuyue say that, Lin Feng instantly locked onto a suitable target. In a very exquisitely framed large display case, there was a single, incredibly finely carved jade Buddha with no price tag. The jade was crystal clear; one look and you could tell it was a top-grade piece...

Lin Feng led Zhu Xiuyue over and said to the counter clerk, "Miss, could you please take out that jade Buddha for me to have a look..."

Just then, a sharp and piercingly familiar female voice suddenly came from behind, stabbing at Lin Feng’s eardrums:

"Honey, I want to buy that jade Buddha! Buy it for me..."

No way it’s this much of a coincidence, right? The voice sounded familiar to Lin Feng; he turned around and, sure enough, it was that flashy woman who had almost gotten into a fight with Zhu Xiuyue just now. She was clinging to the arm of that middle-aged man, pointing at the jade Buddha in the display case in front of Lin Feng, coquettishly trying her best to wheedle the man...

"It’s you!" When Zhu Xiuyue saw the woman, a cold smile appeared on her face. She had just been regretting letting that Old Hag off the hook, and now enemies really do meet on a narrow road; running into her again here meant she absolutely couldn’t let her off easy this time!

"You two poor ghosts again!" The flashy woman also recognized Lin Feng and Zhu Xiuyue. Contempt flashed across her face as she said coldly, "You really have the nerve to stroll around here. Take a look at where you are—do you think you can afford the stuff in this place?"

Customers in this kind of high-end jewelry store are usually quite quiet; someone like this flashy woman, born with a loud voice, is actually pretty rare. Especially since she had zero sense of restraint, that shrill voice instantly drew the attention of many customers in the store. Quite a few men and women who were picking out jewelry started curiously eyeing the flashy woman and Lin Feng and Zhu Xiuyue in front of her, even secretly speculating about who they were.

This time, Zhu Xiuyue had learned her lesson and didn’t start sparring with the woman straight away. Instead, she turned to look at the store clerk, gave a sweet smile, and said gently, "Beauty, this crazy woman is so loud she’s ruining my shopping experience. Isn’t your store supposed to do something about that?"

The salesgirl looked very embarrassed at Zhu Xiuyue’s question. "I’m really sorry..."

Then the salesgirl glanced at the loud-voiced flashy woman and a trace of timidity crossed her face. This is where sales staff in the country are weak: almost all shops judge employees by their sales performance, and very few will back their staff to speak up righteously, even when the customer is in the wrong.

"What, just a damn clerk, and you think you can lecture me?" The flashy woman glared at the salesgirl, snorted discontentedly.

At that, most of the customers in the store developed a sense of displeasure toward the flashy woman. A woman this vulgar clearly had no upbringing; not worth associating with.

The young salesgirl’s face showed embarrassment; she didn’t know how to handle this. After all, the store manager’s instructions were: no matter how bad the customer’s attitude is, as long as they’re spending money, they’re the boss... Judging from the looks of it, although this gaudily dressed woman had a rotten attitude, she didn’t look like some pauper who couldn’t afford jewelry.

"What are you staring at? Hurry up and take that jade Buddha out for me to see!" The flashy woman snorted again and spoke arrogantly to the salesgirl, then swaggered forward and plopped herself right down in front of the display case...

"This..." The salesgirl’s expression grew even more awkward. She knew she shouldn’t give in to the flashy woman right now, but if she didn’t give in, what could she do?

Zhu Xiuyue was a little disappointed by the salesgirl’s weakness; she’d thought this girl would righteously kick that reeking-of-the-countryside woman out. Clearly, she’d been thinking too much.

"Beauty, we were the ones who wanted to look at this jade Buddha first. You’re not really going to ignore us like that, are you?" After glaring at the flashy woman, Zhu Xiuyue addressed the salesgirl again.

"Tch... you say it like it’s real. That display case is for the store’s treasure piece. This jade Buddha is definitely priced at no less than a million. Can you afford it? If you can’t, then stop wasting people’s time, got it? Pair of poor ghosts..." The flashy woman examined her delicate, jade-like hands while sneering.

The middle-aged man standing beside her looked a bit embarrassed, but his eyes never really glanced at Lin Feng and Zhu Xiuyue; he just wore a bored, impatient expression, as if he was dissatisfied with everything in front of him.

Hearing what the flashy woman said, Zhu Xiuyue only let out a cold laugh without explaining anything. She believed there really weren’t many pieces of jewelry in this world that Brother Feng couldn’t afford!

"How much is this jade Buddha?" Lin Feng spoke up directly. He really didn’t want to say even one word to the woman beside him—it would only drag down the tone.

"Uh..." The salesgirl looked at Lin Feng, somewhat embarrassed. "This jade Buddha is carved from Hetian jade, old-pit seed material. The jade quality is flawless and extremely rare. The marked price is 1.8 million..."

"Oh. Wrap it up for me, I’ll take it..." Lin Feng cut her off before she could finish.

"Huh?" The salesgirl stared at Lin Feng in shocked disbelief. Her face showed how utterly incredulous she was. This customer said he was buying the jade Buddha—did she hear that right?!

"What kind of joke is that? You can afford it? I really don’t buy it!" The flashy woman standing next to Lin Feng glared at him and sneered. "If you want to puff your face up to look like Fatty, you’ve at least gotta have the means. 1.8 million isn’t 180 bucks. You have that kind of money?!"
