Chapter 1481: The Young Son-in-law
After the elderly woman opened her eyes, her consciousness quickly cleared. She looked at Tang Zhendong holding her with a hint of confusion and asked with a strong voice, “Zhendong, why did I fall asleep?”
“Mom… You just fainted…” Tang Zhendong felt both shocked and delighted in his heart, but he told his elderly mother with a face that was both smiling and crying, “Do you remember how you fainted?”
“I fainted?” The elderly woman thought for a moment, then said with some confusion, “Oh, I remember now. Just now Little Qiu said she had to go to the restroom, so I was walking Do Do, and then I noticed the sun was a bit strong. I was just about to find a shady place to rest for a bit, then when I turned my head, everything went black…”
The Little Qiu she mentioned is actually her female caregiver… The elderly woman’s narration was clear, and she explained the cause and effect in just a few words. Tang Zhendong could tell that in the elderly woman’s words, there was no mention of Lin Feng’s car, let alone any mention of a collision… And Nurse Qiu, who not only wasn’t present at the scene just now, but was trying her hardest to blame Lin Feng and shirk responsibility!
Tang Zhendong’s expression darkened and he turned to look at Nurse Qiu, asking in a deep voice, “Nurse Qiu, how do you explain this?!”
Nurse Qiu’s face turned paler than ever. She hadn’t expected Grandma Tang to wake up so quickly, nor had she expected Grandma Tang to clearly remember what happened, making her attempt at shirking responsibility clearly apparent.
“Sir… I, I’m innocent… I was misled by them… I didn’t know what had happened…” Nurse Qiu pointed at those witnessing pedestrians, complaining bitterly.
The pedestrians, realizing they had wronged a good person and were put in an awkward position by Nurse Qiu’s blame-shifting, one by one apologized to Lin Feng with red faces and then left quietly.
Lin Feng smiled slightly. He didn’t hold any grudges against these well-meaning pedestrians, as they were merely strangers after all. The fact they did this much meant they had at least fulfilled their responsibility. But Nurse Qiu, indeed, fell quite short…
“What’s the matter, did something happen?” Grandma Tang asked curiously as she slowly stood up with Tang Zhendong’s help.
“Uh… Just now, they misunderstood, thinking you were knocked over by Lin Feng’s car. They wanted him to take responsibility…” Tang Zhendong pointed at Lin Feng and explained awkwardly.
“Ridiculous!” Grandma Tang scolded angrily, glancing at Lin Feng’s BMW with a stern voice, “When that car passed by slowly just now, I was two or three meters away, how could it have collided with me… Even if my eyes are blurred with age, Do Do wouldn’t let me run amok!”
The red poodle, thrilled to hear its name mentioned by Grandma Tang, whimpered joyfully. Clearly, this smart little dog understood Grandma Tang was praising it.
The female caregiver’s face turned even paler… She realized her earlier actions likely didn’t even compare to this loyal little dog…
Tang Zhendong nodded, knowing the elderly woman’s dog was indeed intelligent. Although it didn’t have the skills of a professional guide dog, under normal circumstances, it at least prevented her from crossing the street carelessly and causing accidents.
“It seems Lin Feng was truly wronged…” Tang Zhendong smiled slightly and said to Grandma Tang, “But speaking of today’s incident, we really should thank Lin Feng. If it weren’t for Lin Feng’s acupuncture, you probably wouldn’t have woken up so quickly…”
“Oh?” Grandma Tang looked at Lin Feng with some curiosity and asked, “So, not only did this misunderstood young man not get mad, but he saved me?! What a kind child! Zhendong, you should know to be grateful, make sure to properly thank him!”
Tang Zhendong glanced at Lin Feng, his expression odd, and nodded lightly with a soft ‘mm’… He was speechless in his heart; he’d already entrusted his only precious daughter to this young man, how else should he express gratitude?
“Tang Zhendong… What kind of attitude is that?! Have you forgotten what I taught you?” Grandma Tang was irked by Tang Zhendong’s ‘dismissive’ attitude, “This young man at least saved me, and your attitude is like this? Are you neglecting me or do you not understand what gratitude means?”
Tang Zhendong hadn’t anticipated his mother’s temper was so intense, and his face turned dark…
“Ahem, ahem…” Lin Feng coughed heavily a couple of times and calmly said to Grandma Tang, “Grandma, there’s no need to be so formal… Actually, I’m well acquainted with Uncle Tang, so talks of gratitude are too distant.”
Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Tang Zhendong’s expression eased a little. Luckily, this young man can talk; otherwise, I would’ve lost face… No matter how wealthy Tang Zhendong was or how impressive his achievements were, when facing the rightful scolding of his mother, he indeed had to listen earnestly like a child decades ago, unable to easily refute!
Grandma Tang looked at Lin Feng with some confusion, “Young man, what do you mean, you know Zhendong?”
“Of course, I do!” Lin Feng nodded with a smile and replied.
“Zhendong?” Grandma Tang turned to glance at Tang Zhendong, her eyes slightly squinting as she sneered, “Are you trying to embarrass me? Shouldn’t you introduce this young Lin Feng to me?”
“Lin Feng… He is Tang Rou’s boyfriend!” Tang Zhendong murmured, voice husky.
“So you are the young son-in-law…” Before Grandma Tang could speak, Nurse Qiu already let out a startled scream; no matter how she imagined, she couldn’t foresee this passing young man being Miss Tang Rou’s boyfriend… Previously, she had been falsely accusing Miss Tang’s boyfriend of hitting someone and deliberately hindering his rescue of the elderly woman… It’s over, she thought, this time it’s truly over… A look of despair flashed in Nurse Qiu’s eyes; she knew this time, no one could save her.
“Little Qiu, why are you so excited?” Grandma Tang looked at her female caregiver with some confusion and asked.
“Nurse Qiu is probably tired…” Tang Zhendong cast a glance at Nurse Qiu and said coldly, “Looking at how it’s almost New Year’s, why don’t Madam Qiu take a few days off to celebrate at home?”
Nurse Qiu knew Tang Zhendong was preparing to fire her; however, she dared not utter another word. If Grandma Tang found out what she had done earlier, firing her would be the least of her worries.
After seeing Tang Zhendong’s attitude towards Nurse Qiu, Grandma Tang realized something had happened she wasn’t aware of. Seeing Nurse Qiu had no desire to explain, she didn’t say anything further and instead turned her curious gaze to Lin Feng.
Now I see why this young man seems so respectful, he’s Little Rou’s boyfriend! Tsk tsk… Nice, nice! The young man does look rather spirited!
