Chapter 2129 - 2130: Journey to the Green Ripple Sect
Chapter 2129: Chapter 2130: Journey to the Green Ripple Sect
"Ha, Chen Lin, don’t be so smug. What I couldn’t obtain, you haven’t obtained either," Li Laogui said coldly.
Chen Lin slowly shook his head, lightly laughed, and said, "No, you are mistaken. At least, I haven’t lost any magical treasures and so many disciples. I’m afraid you’re not in an easy position with your sect’s Hall of Enforcement this time."
Even though Li Laogui was strong and robust, he couldn’t help but shiver. Every sect has a Hall of Enforcement, a place where they reward good and punish evil, and it is the most emotionless part of a sect.
Even as an elder, he could not escape punishment.
Li Laogui’s face instantly turned gloomy, his eyes filled with intense killing intent.
"The mountains won’t shift, but the rivers will, Chen Lin, we’ll see," he said.
Li Laogui forced himself to stay calm and flew away into the distance. He dared not linger any longer, as he had already expended considerable energy in the previous battle.
Moreover, this was the Green Ripple Sect’s boundary. If their reinforcements arrived, he feared it would be too late to escape.
After all, the rivalry between the two sects had lasted for a long time.
As for Lin Chen, who had been knocked into the dense forest by Li Laogui earlier, he did not spare him a glance. He thought Lin Chen was a mere physical cultivator; although he hadn’t crushed him to dust with a single hit, the impact had sent him flying far away, suggesting he was likely dead.
Li Laogui was quite confident in this.
But if he knew the White Tiger had been released by Lin Chen, even if he were dead, he’d be dragged out to vent his anger.
"Cough, cough."
After Li Laogui’s figure disappeared into the distance, Lin Chen coughed lightly, throwing the ancient wood pinning him aside, then slowly stepped out from the ashes.
"It really hurts."
He moved his muscles and bones, feeling exhausted all over, especially the spot on his back where Li Laogui had struck him, which burned as if on fire, causing him to grit his teeth.
"Hehe, young friend, the spiritual power attribute of the Crimson Flame Sect is violent, and most importantly, it can scorch your meridians. If you’re not careful, it might leave a root of illness."
Suddenly, Chen Lin emerged from afar, supported by someone, and slowly approached Lin Chen. Observing Lin Chen’s painful appearance, he couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Why don’t you let me take a look?"
Lin Chen furrowed his brows but didn’t agree or refuse. Instead, he asked, "Why do you want to heal me?"
"For someone who can resist Li Laogui’s attack using just their body without serious injury, it’s hard not to pay attention. Naturally, under such circumstances, I want to create some good karma," Chen Lin said with a chuckle, his expression revealing no trace of pretense.
Lin Chen’s gaze moved up and down over Chen Lin. After a few breaths, he slowly spoke, "Then I’ll trouble you."
"It’s no trouble, no trouble at all."
Chen Lin shook his head with a smile as he laid his hand on Lin Chen’s back. Instantly, a refreshing aura emanated from his back, dispelling the burning sensation, causing Lin Chen’s expression to slightly relax before he let out a long breath.
"How is it now? Isn’t it much better?"
After a few breaths, Chen Lin slowly said, though his face, originally full of blood, now appeared even more pallid.
"It indeed feels much better, but you..." Lin Chen looked at Chen Lin’s appearance and felt a pang of guilt.
"I’m alright; it’s just that I was seriously injured earlier, which is why I look like this. I’ll be fine after two or three months of recuperation," Chen Lin said lightly, coughing once more.
"Judging by your attire, you don’t seem to be from around here?" Chen Linchen asked.
Looking at the surrounding people’s clothing, Lin Chen stood out with his athletic wear and cropped short hair, the only similarity being the ancient sword in his hand.
"Indeed, I’ve just arrived here, hoping to find a good sect to settle in and learn the cultivation technique, to roam the continent!" Lin Chen said, half-truthfully.
"Good, good, young people should be spirited, and with your enigmatic physical strength, learning spiritual law would be a great advantage! But I’m not sure if you’ve decided where to go," Chen Lin said, his eyes gleaming.
Lin Chen slowly shook his head and said, "I haven’t. I’ve only been here for a few hours and heard some commotion, so I came to take a look. As for where to go, I’m still unsure."
Chen Lin took a step forward and spoke gently, "Our Green Ripple Sect ranks among the top in this vast land, with numerous subordinate smaller sects. If you don’t mind, why not come to the Green Ripple Sect? With your abilities, obtaining a high-level cultivation technique wouldn’t be a concern."
Lin Chen paused silently, slightly lowered his head, and glanced at Chen Lin from the corner of his eye. His years of dealing with people had honed his ability to read them. Observing Chen Lin’s genuine demeanor, he slowly nodded.
"Then, let’s go."
Chen Lin laughed and led Lin Chen forward slowly, looking quite pleased. Although he had lost a spirit beast, it seemed he had brought back a promising disciple for his sect.
Leading Lin Chen to the others, Chen Lin touched another ring, and suddenly a flash of light appeared, revealing a massive spirit boat before them.
"This is the Spirit Boat, used for long-distance travel. While it’s costly, the benefits are tremendous. Journeys that would typically take months can be covered in just a few days with this boat," Chen Lin explained to Lin Chen.
Lin Chen circled the enormous spirit boat a few times, finding its resemblance to ships back on Earth uncanny, except that this boat was powered by spiritual energy rather than fuel.
"Young friend, let me help you up," Chen Lin said.
"No need, I can manage this height,"
Lin Chen laughed heartily, slightly bending his knees and then pushing off the ground forcefully, his body rising high as he leapt onto the elevated spirit boat.
"Your physique is truly impressive, young friend!" Chen Lin praised, gently patting his back, sincerely impressed.
This made Lin Chen feel a shiver of discomfort, and he swallowed hard, taking a step forward, finding the touch from another man unsettling.
"Rise!"
As Lin Chen and several disciples stepped onto the spirit boat, someone called out softly, and several figures moved to the helm. With the power of spiritual energy propelling it, they soared eastward.
The lush landscape below gradually blurred as the spirit boat traveled further. Lin Chen stood on the deck, feeling the wind wildly brushing against his cheeks.
"One step closer. As long as I have a cultivation technique, within a hundred years, I, Lin Chen, will certainly reach the Mystic Realm!"
Lin Chen closed his eyes lightly, his mind filled with such thoughts. This was just a temporary stop; his ultimate destination was the divine realm.
