Chapter 2378: Chapter 2379: Love Breeds Anxiety

Chen Lin rubbed his hands together and took a step forward. After all, he was seeking help and appeared somewhat reserved.

"Sect Master, this matter can’t be resolved quickly at the moment, and the injuries on my little daughter’s body..."

Chen Lin seemed a bit anxious, his face flushed as he looked at Liu Qinghan with an expression full of hope, making it hard to refuse.

"Are the medicines prepared?" Liu Qinghan asked instead.

"They’re all here."

Upon hearing Liu Qinghan’s words, Lin Chen continuously took out herbs from his storage ring; they were all Resurrecting Herbal Grass, about a hundred in total.

Lin Chen didn’t know if these were enough, but he decided to take them all out at once.

Liu Qinghan showed a strange expression. While Resurrecting Herbal Grass isn’t hard to find, it rarely appears in large numbers together, usually only one in a place. Yet Lin Chen had taken out so many.

"It’s enough, I’ll come over by noon."

Liu Qinghan said.

"Great, great, thank you, Sect Master."

Chen Lin relaxed a bit, relieved as long as he hadn’t been refused. His tense heart was able to settle.

"Hmm."

After finishing, Liu Qinghan walked towards the hall as he needed some time to recover his strength.

Although he hadn’t been directly harmed by Lu Kang earlier, Liu Qinghan had expended quite a lot, as there had been no way to restore his spiritual energy.

...

Lin Chen returned to the mountain top where Chen Lin resided, accompanied by Sun Tianming and Chen Lin.

At this time, the few women in the house seemed yet to awaken, and the top of the mountain was quite tranquil.

The group gazed at the closed curtain on the wooden house and had no desire to go inside, so they sat at the stone table amid the space.

"I hope we can thoroughly heal her injuries this time."

Chen Lin sighed softly, his expression complex as he looked back at the wooden house. Though he couldn’t see inside, his face still showed gentleness and hope.

"Do your best and leave the rest to fate."

Lin Chen said.

Although things are best done to the fullest extent, sometimes it’s not within one’s control, and there’s nothing can be done about it.

"I should take advantage of this time to recover a bit. Maybe when it comes to healing, we might have to lend a hand."

Sun Tianming changed the topic, stating that concern leads to confusion. Despite having Liu Qinghan’s promise, Chen Lin’s mood had not calmed but instead became more tense.

"Hmm."

Chen Lin withdrew his gaze and nodded slightly but closed his eyes with Chen Jie’s image filling his mind, unable to set his heart at rest, which made him even more anxious.

He got up and began pacing back and forth in the open space.

This caused Lin Chen and Sun Tianming to exchange a glance and shared a bitter smile.

Though neither of them was as anxious as Chen Lin, they were concerned nonetheless. They, too, hoped Chen Jie would recover quickly, but it wasn’t something that could be rushed.

Moreover, Liu Qinghan had already agreed.

However, they didn’t attempt to persuade Chen Lin, knowing that it was perfectly normal for him to care about his own daughter so much.

As noon drew near, the sound of air being pierced came from afar.

Chen Lin’s keen senses immediately reacted to the noise; his aged face showed joy as soon as the sound spread. Wrinkles crisscrossed his face, piling up together.

"Sect Master."

He greeted Liu Qinghan, who approached swiftly, with a respectful demeanor.

"Let’s start now then. Early treatment will spare you unsettled feelings."

Liu Qinghan said indifferently, as he had seen Chen Lin’s condition these past few days.

He then walked towards the wooden house and pushed the door open. Inside the house, following a squeaking sound, Meng Shan stood up suddenly and grabbed a kitchen knife by her side, looking cautious.

After a slight moment of daze, upon seeing the visitors clearly, her expression relaxed, and the kitchen knife fell to the ground with a clang as she ran towards Lin Chen.

"Brother Lin!"

Meng Shan wrapped her arms around Lin Chen’s waist, gently nestling her head against Lin Chen’s body, showing great reliance.

"Good girl."

Lin Chen was taken aback by the sudden hug, feeling perplexed, but he thought for a moment and then gently patted Meng Shan’s head, speaking softly.

"Where’s your sister Lin Wan’er?" Lin Chen asked again, peering around the room but not seeing Lin Wan’s figure, only Chen Jie still sleeping on the bed.

"She went out to get some food when it was just getting light."

Meng Shan replied.

"She should have been back by now."

Lin Chen froze, noting that it was already lunchtime.

"Brother Lin, you can’t imagine how slow she is at cooking," Sun Tianming sighed and patted Lin Chen’s shoulder involuntarily.

"Hmm hmm."

Meng Shan echoed, having witnessed Lin Wan’s cooking speed over time. There were a few times when Sun Tianming couldn’t wait any longer and took matters into his own hands.

As they chatted, Liu Qinghan had already reached Chen Jie’s bedside, and his hand fell, lightly pressing on Chen Jie’s wrist to feel the pulse.

Feeling anxious, Chen Lin waited as Liu Qinghan released his grip moments later, whispering a few words to Chen Lin.

Upon hearing them, Chen Lin nodded repeatedly and quickly dashed out like the wind.

This left Lin Chen and the others slightly bewildered, but after a while, Chen Lin’s hurried figure returned.

In his hands, variously colored herbs were carefully held, which he laid down at Liu Qinghan’s feet, then he wiped the sweat off his forehead with his sleeves.

His speed was surprisingly beyond his usual, leaving him somewhat breathless.

Liu Qinghan shook his head lightly, deciding not to advise him given Chen Lin’s earnest appearance.

"Leave and close the door, don’t let anyone near."

Liu Qinghan stated quietly.

Upon hearing this, Lin Chen and the others exited, having stayed long enough to understand that certain treatments require absolute silence, especially since Chen Jie’s injury pertained to her consciousness, requiring a perfectly quiet environment.

Chen Lin knew this too, and as he walked out, he turned back with eyes full of concern, reluctant to leave.

Liu Qinghan, noticing this, sighed lightly at first but then paused in arranging the herbs. He raised his hand and gestured to Chen Lin, saying: "No need—you stay here to help me, but remember, no noise."

Catching Liu Qinghan’s words, Chen Lin rejoiced, stopping and remaining there.
