Chapter 370 - 250: The Wall and the Dump Truck
Chapter 370: Chapter 250: The Wall and the Dump Truck
Still, information about key moments and anything that had never been posted online was missing.
Sheesh...
Lin Chu scratched his head, at a loss for words for a moment.
’This is so fucking cyberpunk.’
But when he took another look at the files on the three Zhuang brothers, Lin Chu almost felt like laughing.
The three of them were complete open books; nearly every trace they could have possibly left behind was there.
They even had the damned records of Zhuang Yingcheng booking hotel rooms while he was studying in London.
And his nationality was, shockingly, from the United Kingdom.
There was even information on his trips to Australia Island and Las Vegas.
The other two Zhuang Family brothers were in a similar situation—they were even more like open books.
If the extent of his own data leak was 80%, theirs had to be over 95%.
After all, they had long lived... outside the wall.
Their information didn’t even have a "wall" to begin with.
"What kind of badass software is this?"
Lin Chu asked again in a low voice. To be honest, he was still pretty shaken.
"It was secretly created by a group of hackers. I don’t know where it’s based, but the software has been around for years. It’s just that its distribution channels have always been very secretive, so not many people know about it."
"Even the ones who do know about it mostly use it sneakily or act as resellers."
"No one dares to use something like this out in the open. I’ve already paid them to perform data pollution. The fee was fifty thousand USD."
"You don’t have to worry too much. I’ve looked myself up before, and hell, it even knew which school my son attends."
"Their big data model is the really incredible part. I estimate the back end can even map out a person’s entire social network."
Gao Haitao explained softly, offering a bit of reassurance.
Lin Chu sighed faintly. For now, it seemed this was the only option. Problems on the network level were truly not that easy to solve.
In the physical world, however, he was certain there wouldn’t be any problems on his end.
After they finished talking about that, Lin Chu went to look at Mo Xiaorou’s information.
’This kind of behavior...’
’Tsk.’
’It feels pretty perverted, like I’m a voyeur.’
’Still, since I’m already looking, I might as well continue.’
Mo Xiaorou was born in Xiangjiang. Her grandfather ran a martial arts gym. Back in the day, her father was in the entertainment industry, working as a martial artist and a member of the Cheng Family Clan. She herself grew up in Xiangjiang and graduated from Xiangjiang University of Chinese Language with a degree in sports science. She was now an assistant coach at the Golden Bull Basketball Club.
The file even listed her cell phone number, along with her Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Lin Chu: ...
’Outrageous.’
’It seems information from outside the wall is even easier to dig up.’
’After all, these platforms are run by commercial companies, and commercial companies... their ethical bottom line is certainly not as high as a country’s.’
’Outside the wall, an ordinary person without the backing of powerful capital is truly like a helpless lamb.’
’Even with the backing of powerful capital, you’d have to truly take these things seriously and have a protective mindset to be able to resist it to some extent.’
’This, I suppose, is one of the prices of "freedom."’
As Lin Chu mulled over these things, he began to feel a little more at ease.
’Everything has two sides. To enjoy convenience, one must naturally pay a price.’
...
The final part of the party was a dance.
As the band began to play, people started to dance. It wasn’t club-style dancing, but rather slow, graceful steps—probably a waltz. To Lin Chu, it all felt quite "retro."
But considering most of the guests were middle-aged or older, they were probably quite used to such an arrangement.
’Except, how would I know how to do this dance?’
’A flashy hand-jive dance was more my speed.’
’I’d better not go out there and make a fool of myself.’
A few ladies did invite him to dance. The beauty queen from Xiangjiang came over again, but Lin Chu once more politely waved his hand in refusal. ’Don’t get me involved. What if I step on your feet? How awkward would that be?’
She gave a slightly resigned smile and didn’t pester him any further.
「Not far away.」
Mo Xiaorou watched the scene over here, and a smile once again graced her lips. She had noticed Lin Chu’s gaze occasionally, nonchalantly, drifting her way.
’Of course, my own gaze would drift over too. How else would I have noticed him?’
’But I can’t do this kind of dance either. It’s exclusively for the middle-aged and elderly. What young person knows how to do this?’
’What if I step on their feet? How embarrassing would that be?’
The next time their eyes met across the crowd, Mo Xiaorou suddenly noticed that Lin Chu was walking toward her.
She subconsciously licked her lips, glanced at her dad, and then stood up to walk toward Lin Chu.
"How come you’re not dancing?"
Lin Chu asked with a smile, taking the initiative.
"Fighting, I know a little bit about. But dancing, I really can’t do. And... well, look. If I went to dance with someone, their head would only come up to about here... Ugh, mortifyingly awkward."
She said, jutting out her chin, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud herself.
Because of her height, she stood out like a crane among chickens, so this style of dance really wasn’t suitable for her. After all, there weren’t many tall people present.
Realizing this, Lin Chu couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He watched the dance floor, making idle conversation with her.
Jackie Chan came over to say hello, asking why he wasn’t dancing and inviting him to join, but Lin Chu again politely declined with a smile.
’He meant well, but it really wasn’t necessary.’
’The generation gap...’
’It’s a real thing.’
...
"Brother Chu, sorry to interrupt. I need to tell you something."
"Something’s happened. Something rather strange."
"Zhuang the Third went out for dinner tonight. He was driving a Rolls-Royce on the coastal highway and got rear-ended by a box truck. The accident is pretty serious. It just happened."
"Two of our guys are watching from behind. There’s a massive traffic jam there now. I expect reporters and the police will be arriving soon."
Just as Lin Chu and Mo Xiaorou were enjoying their conversation, Gao Haitao suddenly hurried over, pulled Lin Chu a short distance away, and whispered in his ear.
