Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts
Chapter 430 - 271: Went Too Far
Chapter 430: Chapter 271: Went Too Far
"Let him get up. We’ll do a urine test."
Lin Chu: ?
He froze for a second before snapping out of it, a wry expression on his face.
Still, it was understandable. A party that wild would inevitably make people think of... other things.
About ten minutes later.
Lin Chu finished his urine test.
Naturally, the results came back clean.
After the interrogation transcript was complete, an older officer entered and said, expressionless, "Have him sign a written pledge promising not to engage in similar behavior again. Then you can let him go."
And so...
Another half hour of hassle went by.
Lin Chu finally got his phone back and was allowed to leave.
Once in the office, he was surprised to see several people waiting for him: the guesthouse receptionist, Bai Weiwei, and two middle-aged men who appeared to be her family. They were both getting on in years.
’Hm?’
’What a turnout...’
Lin Chu let out a long sigh, a slight smile touching his lips.
"Sorry to have troubled you all."
Bai Weiwei shot him a glare and stood up. "Let’s go! Had enough excitement for one night? You done messing around? Do you have any idea what time it is?"
It was already three in the morning.
"Brother Chu, hahaha, it’s no big deal! We just went a little overboard this time. It’s not like you committed a major crime. This kind of stuff happens all the time."
"We didn’t even get into a fight, so what’s there to worry about?"
Bai Jingrui, on the other hand, just smiled reassuringly. ’To be honest, while I was sitting here thinking it over, I actually realized this was a net gain.’
’During the impromptu rave earlier, he couldn’t find a single chance to talk to him. There were just too many people.’
’But now, with this happening... Lin Chu gets arrested, and the Bai Family pulls some strings to save him a ton of trouble. He’ll have to owe them a favor for this, right?’
Lin Chu glanced at him and nodded slightly. His eyes fell on the man in the center of the group, who looked to be in his fifties, with tanned skin and a potbelly. He seemed to be the leader of the pack, so Lin Chu proactively offered a handshake. "Sorry for all the trouble. I’m grateful to all of you. Haha, and you are, sir?"
"It’s nothing, no trouble. I’m Weiwei’s dad. You’re a guest at our guesthouse, and this is no big deal. Let’s go, young man."
"Just try not to go so wild in the future."
The man said, his tone honest and straightforward.
Lin Chu nodded with an awkward smile.
He exchanged a few more words with Lin Chu, then turned to bid farewell to the officer who had come in. "Old Zhang, we’ll be taking off now. Talk to you later."
"Alright, alright. Take care."
The group walked out the door together.
"You can ride in my dad’s car. Bye, we’re heading home now."
Too exasperated to complain, Bai Weiwei tossed the words over her shoulder and quickly walked over to a little red BMW before driving off.
Lin Chu waved and got into her dad’s car, taking the passenger seat.
Bai Jingrui quickly followed, hopping into the back seat.
"Brother Chu, have a smoke."
"Brother-in-law..."
From the back seat, Bai Jingrui held out two cigarettes. Lin Chu took them with a word of thanks and lit one up. His feelings were a strange and complicated mix.
’Who would’ve thought I’d unlock the ’First Time in Handcuffs’ achievement today.’
’Honestly, from the moment the party ended and I was dragged here, I was pretty dazed.’
"By the way, sir, I didn’t catch your name?"
"I really appreciate you helping me out tonight."
As the car started, Lin Chu exhaled a cloud of smoke and thanked him again.
"This is my brother-in-law, Weiwei’s dad, Bai Fengshou. Don’t worry about it. A small thing like this is nothing for him. He can solve it with just a word."
Before Bai Fengshou could answer, Bai Jingrui cheerfully cut in from the back seat to make the introduction.
Lin Chu nodded.
"Alright. Then tomorrow, let me treat you to dinner, sir. Please don’t refuse. It’s the least I can do."
Bai Fengshou glanced at him and sighed softly, but then couldn’t help letting out a short, huffing laugh.
"You’re quite the party animal, aren’t you?"
"Got a lot of fans, do you? My brother-in-law here is one of them. He was telling us on the way over what a big shot you are. Since you’re staying at our guesthouse, I guess that makes us friends. Call it fate."
Bai Fengshou said, his tone a mixture of an elder’s authority and gentle teasing.
It had been a hassle, but it truly wasn’t a major incident.
And now that he was out, the young man was acting polite and sincere, so Bai Fengshou didn’t press the issue.
"Alright, alright, hahaha! No problem at all."
Seeing that he’d agreed, Lin Chu felt a sense of relief. He hated being indebted to people.
Bai Fengshou asked at this point. "How long have you been a streamer? Did you build up this big of a business just from streaming?"
Lin Chu answered respectfully, "I don’t actually make my living from streaming. That’s just for fun. I already had some money and thought it’d be fun to get a little famous. I never expected to blow up like I did."
Bai Jingrui chimed in from the back seat, "Brother-in-law, the reason Brother Chu blew up is because he’s got serious clout! His streams have had tons of celebrities—Gao Qiqiang, Jackie Chan, Liang Jiahui... Damn, all A-listers! Every single one a huge star."
Lin Chu: ...
He couldn’t help but glance back at him.
’This ’brother-in-law’ of his really was a competent hype man.’
’He’s pretty interesting.’
"Jackie Chan was there too?"
"You’re friends with him?"
This piqued Bai Fengshou’s interest, and a new warmth entered his voice as he asked.
"Hahaha, yeah, we get along pretty well. I just like making friends."
Lin Chu said nonchalantly.
"That’s great. Making friends is a good thing. The more the better."
Bai Fengshou said with a smile, feeling like he was starting to get a better read on Lin Chu.
The three of them chatted for the rest of the drive.
They arrived at the back entrance of the guesthouse and parked. After exchanging WeChat contacts, Lin Chu got out of the car. The effects of the alcohol had completely worn off. Back in his room, he found the little dog still waiting by the door. He patted its head, took a shower, and fell into a deep sleep.
