Chapter 35: 35 - King vs Cerberus [1]

The sound of massive chains rattling against each other, accompanied by the sound of falling rocks, made both King and Elias hear it.

In this dark space, the only thing that could make such a terrifying sound could only be the final boss of the dungeon.

[Master! Master!]

[The threat that could end Elias’s life has arrived. Please deal with it carefully and don’t let him die.]

[If he dies, your mission will not be completed. There will be no reward, and you will permanently lose the chance to come to this world again."

The System’s incessant screaming in King’s head made him frown because he found it annoying. With him here, how could Elias possibly die?

Moreover, this world’s Heavenly Dao definitely wouldn’t welcome a ’great’ reader like him with some pathetic defeat... At least, King’s blind confidence told him so.

"Hahahaha... My boss. Where are you?!"

About to fight the boss, King became even more excited. When other people encountered a boss, they would be cautious, but King was different. He wanted to fight the boss immediately without needing any preparation.

As they fell, King continuously glanced around, but he couldn’t see anything moving within his field of vision.

Unlike King, Elias remained vigilant and couldn’t laugh at all. He had no idea what rank this fantastic beast was at. From this sound, Elias analyzed that it was definitely strong enough to kill him in one hit.

Right now, Elias was only trying his best not to get in King’s way. As for helping King, if he got the chance, he would try his best. Even though he thought this way, he had no idea what his pitiful strength could do in this situation.

As soon as they landed at one corner of the massive arena floor, King immediately let go of Elias so he could fight more freely.

"Hide wherever you want. After I kill it, we’ll continue looking for a good wand for you."

As King spoke, the sound of the massive chains scraping against each other and the sound of cracking rocks grew louder and louder.

Even though they were in a place with extremely little light, King’s sharp senses immediately detected a massive black shadow falling from above.

He originally intended to let Elias run on his own, but the situation was a little dangerous now, so King grabbed Elias by the collar of his robe and brought him up to the stands.

BOOM!!!

The mysterious giant fantastic beast fell from above, making the large hole in the center of the arena even bigger. Broken earth flew everywhere, and dust filled the air, covering its body and only revealing the silhouette of something with two heads and four glowing red eyes.

Even though he could only see the blurry shadow, Elias had enough knowledge to immediately recognize this fantastic beast.

"Be careful! It’s a pretty famous, powerful species of fantastic beast. Cerberus has three heads, and each head can breathe fire..."

Elias was speaking hurriedly when King suddenly transformed into his Heavenly Dao Swordsman state. The unimaginable majesty and nobility, along with the divine-like aura radiating from King at this moment, made Elias feel strangely reassured.

He originally thought that even if this was a suffocatingly difficult battle, the domineering aura radiating from King at this moment made Elias feel that their chances of winning were extremely high.

"Keep going."

As he spoke, King took a few steps forward. In a domineering stance, he gently stroked the blade of the Heavenly Dao Sword before curling his lips into a smile. His calm demeanor made it seem as if the giant monster in front of him was nothing at all.

"It only has two heads now, probably because of its battle with that mage many years ago, but you can’t underestimate it. To kill it, you have to cut off or destroy its remaining two heads."

As if sensing the powerful aura erupting from King, Cerberus let out an extremely piercing and ferocious bark as a declaration of war.

"Whether you have two or three heads, you’re still just a dog. A lowly creature like you dares to act fierce in front of a great reader like me?"

The corner of King’s mouth curled up slightly and immediately disappeared. This terrifying speed made Elias’s eyes widen because he couldn’t keep up at all.

In Elias’s eyes, King seemed to have transformed into a streak of divine light charging straight toward that massive, ferocious monster.

Because his enemy was only a ’dog’, King was extremely careless and didn’t even bother using a divine skill. His movements were so fast and decisive that the System didn’t have time to warn him.

[Master, be careful!]

[Even though Cerberus is heavily injured, it is a rank IV fantastic beast. Even if you are invincible within rank III, its strength is still one rank higher than yours.]

The moment the System finished speaking, a paw larger than King kicked him away like a cannonball, sending him crashing hard into a massive stone pillar. The powerful impact created cracks that continued spreading until the massive stone pillar collapsed.

The ashes gradually settled, and Cerberus’s form became clearer. Its massive body, about ten meters tall, stood like a black mountain, its body covered in layers of coarse fur and countless scars left behind by countless battles.

One head had already been lost, leaving behind a huge and extremely ferocious scar that had healed long ago. Perhaps the mage from before had used an extremely powerful attack to blast this head away, which was why Cerberus’s skull could no longer be seen anywhere in the arena.

The remaining two heads were abnormally huge, their eyes glowing red like burning coals, while long teeth showed between their jaws that were constantly breathing smoke.

Every time it breathed, orange-red flames immediately burst out of its mouth, forming ’silk ribbons’ that looked incredibly soft as they danced through the air with heat that made the air twist.

Its four massive legs slammed into the ground, its claws sinking deep into the stone. Its giant paw was so huge that even if five people the size of King were put together, they wouldn’t be as big as it.

After using its leg to send King flying, Cerberus didn’t continue attacking and instead stood there waiting with an extremely arrogant demeanor. Ever since it was born, it had been the only king of this dungeon.

"A mere dog dares to look down on me?!"
