Supreme Swordsman System

Chapter 8 - 08 - Just a Character in a Novel

  • Next Chapter

Just a measly rank III cultivator, so when faced with a slap from a rank VI cultivator, King was sent flying off the flying sword. King didn’t know how to fly, so once again, he could only free-fall from the sky.

"Who the hell did this bastard learn how to talk from? And that system or whatever it is, could it really be a cheat meant for the main character? If so, it would make quite a lot of sense considering his insane leveling speed."

The two of them were very high up in the sky right now, so Iris didn’t hurry to catch King and simply let him free fall as a little lesson.

"Is someone like him really the main character? You’ve got to be kidding me. He’s so arrogant that he’s practically blind despite not having much strength himself. What the hell is wrong with his head?"

In the mindset of a normal person, a system was a secret that needed to be hidden, but King was anything but normal right now.

Before transmigrating, it could be said that he was so ordinary that he was downright mediocre. After transmigrating into the novel, he immediately became so superior because he saw everything here as nothing more than entertainment for himself.

Without the system and some heaven-defying luck, King definitely wouldn’t have survived more than two days with this way of thinking.

The strong winds slammed into King’s face as he free-fell, making him slightly narrow his eyes. Seeing the ground getting closer and closer, the only thing on his face was annoyance.

"Hmph, there’ll be a day when you pay the price."

Just after muttering, King suddenly felt his cheek ache a little. The swollen red cheek had a very clear handprint on it, making King look extremely miserable.

[Master, how about you consider pretending to submit to her for a while? You only need to endure for a short period of time, and you’ll soon become the strongest existence on Earth.]

The system’s sincere and reasonable advice sounded extremely grating to King when it reached his ears.

"Pretend to submit is what the hell? Do I really have to pretend in front of a character from a novel because I’m afraid of her? No way!"

King’s eyes rolled back, and he opened his mouth as wide as possible to scream at the system. If the system had a physical body, it would probably already be drenched in his saliva.

Right after he cursed at the system, Iris rode her flying sword around in a circle and came in front of King. Her hand, full of calluses from practicing swordsmanship, grabbed his mouth, making him unable to say anything anymore.

The sudden impact caused his neck to bear quite a strong inertial force. If King were still an ordinary person, this little action of hers would definitely have been enough to kill him on the spot.

"Oh, so I’m just a character in a novel? Then I wonder if this great reader would like me to ’serve’ you enthusiastically?"

Faced with King’s ridiculous words, Iris chose to believe him. It was truly astonishing that the strongest cultivator of the current era, arrogant as she was, could accept that she herself was merely a character born from someone’s imagination.

She was somewhat unhappy, but her sense of interest was still stronger. No matter how infuriating the truth was, the truth was still the truth. Being annoyed by the truth couldn’t turn it into a lie.

Iris could see that King always believed that because he was a reader, he viewed the world from a god’s perspective. But arrogance couldn’t suddenly make his strength surpass hers.

Imagining this ’great’ reader being crushed beneath her feet with no way to resist made Iris feel very amused.

Even if the future changed and he became stronger than her, so what? At that point, Iris would only need to keep nagging him about the past to make King go crazy if he still had the same arrogant personality he had now.

The more Iris thought about it, the more interested she became, to the point that she grinned widely, revealing even her fangs. That terrifying smile made King have a fleeting thought of backing down, but he immediately hardened his resolve and stared straight at her.

King tried to speak, but he couldn’t say anything because Iris was squeezing his mouth too tightly. He had tried to bite her hand, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t.

"What’s wrong? How come my great reader can’t even speak anymore?"

Seeing King looking so helpless, an indescribable joy rose in Iris’s heart. Was it the joy of bullying the weak? No, that was too boring, so she had never done it.

Was what interested her most about King his strength? What she cared about was the secret hidden inside him and the identity higher than this entire world that he always insisted he had.

Bullying the weak was boring, but wasn’t bullying someone with a higher status than yourself extremely exciting?

King’s eyes were wide open as if they were about to pop out, and the veins bulging on his forehead made Iris’s smile grow wider and wider.

For the past ten years, her life had been nothing but killing and suppressing the corruption, making it incredibly boring. Now that the ’clown’ King was here to provide some entertainment, she felt extremely relaxed.

Keeping him silent for this long should be enough. Instead of grabbing King’s mouth, Iris now grabbed his collar.

The moment King’s mouth was free, it immediately opened as wide as possible. King hurriedly spoke as fast as he could, causing saliva to spray onto Iris’s face because he was afraid she would lock his mouth again.

"You bastard! If you want to slash me, if you want to kill me, then come at me! If I even frown, then I’m your son."

The louder King shouted, the more panicked the system became. The system knew that with King’s behavior just now, even if Iris killed him, no one would dare say a single word.

[Master!]

[Stop being so stubborn!]

[Knowing when to bend and when to straighten is what makes a true man. You still have a long life ahead of you, so why are you in such a hurry?]

The system could take King away to escape, but with his temperament, he would definitely want to turn around and settle the score with Iris the moment he arrived somewhere else.

"Shut up! What the hell do you know? I’m not just a normal true man. I’m a reader!"

Iris watched as King had just shouted in her face before turning his head away and shouting with a completely different attitude. Even though she couldn’t see anything, she was certain the system was right there.
