Supreme Swordsman System
Chapter 85 Never Gets Full
The temperature of the golden flames was so high that the odor molecules producing the burnt smell couldn’t even exist before they were completely gone.
Just a little flame in the palm of his hand was enough to make King, who was quite far away, feel the heat.
This move looked familiar. Iris had done this before when she burned…
Thinking about what Iris had done, King’s expression immediately darkened.
Nobody could be happy thinking about a crazy woman holding a sword and threatening to castrate him over and over again.
Seeing Mateo reach out to shake his hand, King was caught between two thoughts.
First, a mere character in a novel had no right to shake his hand. With King’s inherent superiority complex, this was the first thing that came to mind.
Second, for a better experience, he should adopt a more relaxed attitude. More importantly, Mateo was a nice guy, not crazy like Iris or Valentina. Shaking hands with a young man who was always grinning and radiating positive energy didn’t seem so bad either.
Before he could think for even three seconds, Mateo had already withdrawn his hand. He wasn’t upset. Instead, he closed his eyes and laughed.
“Haha, looks like you’re just as Iris described. An arrogant guy who doesn’t give a damn about even those stronger than himself.”
That laughter left King, who was still hesitating over what to do, completely stunned.
Before he could figure out what was going on, Mateo suddenly opened his eyes. An amount of spiritual power that wasn’t particularly large was released, but its sheer ferocity startled King.
Before King’s eyes, the scene seemed to change. It wasn’t any kind of illusion spell. Rather, that insanely violent and utterly unreasonable aura made his brain create a fitting scene on its own.
There was nobody else here. Before his eyes, there seemed to be only a gigantic monster trampling over the corpses of countless other monsters.
This feeling was familiar. Iris had shown him this before. Compared to her, it wasn’t even that scary.
“Tsk, you think that little bit of skill is enough to show off in front of me?”
King was startled, not frightened. The main reason was Mateo’s sudden change in attitude from cheerful to insane, not because his aura was too terrifying.
Iris didn’t care that Mateo was intimidating King. She just stood there grabbing food and stuffing her face, even though she hadn’t paid for the ticket yet.
With Iris’s status, she could get away with bending the rules a little. Her reputation was so great that nobody would stop her from eating first and paying later.
“Hahaha, your strength is lacking, but your confidence is truly unmatched.”
The atmosphere immediately relaxed when Mateo burst out laughing. He sat down but didn’t start eating right away. Instead, he called a waiter over.
“Hey, bring two chairs over here. And bring a lot more food, too. Just put all the expenses on my tab.”
“Yes!”
As soon as he received the order, the waiter immediately dashed out of the room. You really couldn’t complain about this kind of work speed.
As soon as Mateo finished speaking, the person who reacted the fastest and most dramatically was definitely King. He just stood there in a daze, as if his brain had temporarily stopped working.
After hearing what Iris said, King had already changed his mindset and decided to pay for this meal. He never expected that after going around in circles, he’d end up eating for free.
“It’s just a little money. You don’t need to feel embarrassed. Isn’t treating you guys to a meal perfectly normal when we’re meeting for the first time?”
As he ate, Mateo grinned widely and spoke with his mouth full. Doing so many things at once made him look as messy as a little kid.
So there was no chance to spend money after all. Whatever, never mind. Eating for free was still better than having to pay a fortune for a meal.
The more King thought about it, the more satisfied he felt. Mateo’s points in his eyes seemed to keep increasing without end.
Compared to a tsundere, someone as straightforward as Mateo made King feel more comfortable. Especially since talking to someone like Mateo wouldn’t drive him crazy like talking to Iris did.
In just a few seconds, the chairs had already arrived. Iris switched from standing while eating to sitting down, while King only started eating now.
After taking a bite, his eyes immediately widened. As expected, there was a good reason why high-end ingredients were so expensive.
Rich people weren’t a bunch of idiots who spent more money on something that wasn’t special.
One small bite, one big bite, and then he stuffed his mouth full. After swallowing everything, King felt like his stomach hadn’t changed at all.
Damn! Cultivator’s body was so fucking ridiculous. Compared to the strength cultivators possessed, their digestive systems were countless times stronger.
Bite after bite, King ate so fast that he didn’t even have time to talk. He had already eaten ten times more than usual, yet he still didn’t feel the slightest bit full.
But when he raised his head and looked at Mateo and Iris, he was stunned. He realized that compared to those two, his terrifying eating speed was no different from comparing a bicycle to a car.
Did those two look like they were eating at all? They were clearly throwing food into a grinder and dumping it into a black hole.
“Hey, um… The elegant classical music is really at odds with what you’re doing right now.”
“Huh? That’s not right. True elegance comes from within, not from one’s outward appearance.”
Taking a huge bite of meat, Mateo answered confidently. The way he said it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world made King’s eyelids twitch.
So elegance could actually be like this???
With Mateo’s strength, no matter how much nonsense he spouted, nobody else would dare argue with him… At least, they wouldn’t dare curse him to his face and tell him he was wrong.
The more King thought about it, the more he felt that hardly any peak cultivators were normal. Of the five people he’d met, three already had issues.
He hadn’t interacted with Kenji much, so he couldn’t say for sure, but Adrian was definitely an exception.
The kind man who had given King ‘unlimited’ money the moment they met was obviously a perfectly normal person.
Since they were quite focused on eating, the food ran out not long after it was served. The number of waiters on standby increased from one to two, constantly bringing more food over.
The more King ate, the more he felt that the basic ticket price of 100,000 dollars seemed far too cheap. The seemingly absurd words spoken by the middle-aged man earlier now seemed to be true after all.
This restaurant really wasn’t operating for profit, but that only applied when serving peak cultivators.
