Chapter 468: Chapter 467: The Ashenbone Lord

After a long moment, the President suddenly smiled.

It didn’t say a word, just opened its panel with a stone-faced expression and invested its points.

The stakes on the betting page changed instantly! The difficulty rating for Seraphina Sinclair’s trial slowly climbed, and this time, her opponents were...

Ten peak D+ Umbral Bone Golems!

In the shadows at the other end of The Coliseum, ten figures appeared at once. They rose slowly, like specters clawing their way out from beneath the earth.

Those were the Umbral Bone Golems.

Their forms were humanoid, but their bodies were constructed entirely of jet-black bone. A dense network of cracks covered the surface of their skeletons, and an ethereal blue fire surged within these fissures. The flames pulsed with their breathing, emitting a faint WHOOSH.

Each Umbral Bone Golem wielded a weapon—some bone blades, some bone spears, and some bone whips.

The weapons were fused to their arms, appearing as natural extensions of their bodies.

Their footfalls were light, making almost no sound on the ground. But their combined aura pressed down on Seraphina Sinclair like ten great mountains.

The spectators in the stands grew excited once more!

"That’s our President! Aren’t the Umbral Bone Golems the most expensive D-level monsters to summon?!"

"That’s right! A single Umbral Bone Golem costs fifty thousand points! Ten of them is five hundred thousand!"

"The President is really sparing no expense! Five hundred thousand points just to kill one human?"

"What do you know? The President doesn’t want to kill her; it wants her to lose! To be publicly humiliated!"

"Truly worthy of the President, what a brilliant choice! These Umbral Bone Golems share the same origin as the Gloomdrake, so they won’t attack each other! This time, Blacktiger Ford will be forced to act!"

"If I remember correctly, even though Blacktiger Ford is a Rune Master, her weapon of choice is a long blade, isn’t it?"

"Exactly! A blade is a physical attack—it can’t hurt the Umbral Bone Golems at all! She’s finished!"

"Hahaha! My Black Fog Coins are safe! I’m gonna bet more on her to lose!"

"I’m betting too! The President has made its move, so I’m going all in!"

A wave of gloating laughter erupted from the stands.

The same people who had just been demanding refunds were now beaming, as if they could already see Seraphina Sinclair being torn to shreds by the ten Umbral Bone Golems.

Seraphina Sinclair stood her ground, her face devoid of expression as she listened to the discussions.

’Physical attacks are useless? Isn’t that just perfect?’

’I haven’t even seen the Moon-Tracking Blade’s Illusion Form yet!’

’Since these ten monsters are immune to physical attacks, they can have a taste of a Spiritual Attack...’

The moment Seraphina Sinclair clenched her fist, a long blade materialized in her hand.

The creatures who came here for amusement were by no means ignorant, and the moment the Moon-Tracking Blade appeared, the entire stadium fell silent.

It was a deathly silence.

Then, an even more furious wave of discussion erupted:

"The... the Moon-Tracking Blade?!"

"Holy shit! Is that the Moon-Tracking Blade?!"

"Impossible! Isn’t the Moon-Tracking Blade an S-Class Weapon? How could it be in the hands of a human right now?!"

"It really is the Moon-Tracking Blade! Look at the pattern on the blade! Only the Moon-Tracking Blade has that!"

"We’re screwed, we’re so screwed... The Umbral Bone Golems are most afraid of the Moon-Tracking Blade. All creatures and monsters from the Gloomdrake lineage are completely suppressed by that blade! The President’s points! My Black Fog Coins! They’re all down the drain..."

"Me too! My life savings!!"

Wails of despair echoed through the stands. The same spectators who had been gloating moments before were now ashen-faced, looking like they wanted to slap themselves.

The President’s expression changed as well.

It stared at the Moon-Tracking Blade in Seraphina Sinclair’s hand, its pupils constricting violently.

It had never imagined that a human would possess an S-Class Weapon. And it certainly never expected that weapon to be the Moon-Tracking Blade, the ultimate counter to the Gloomdrake lineage.

The ten Umbral Bone Golems, summoned at the cost of five hundred thousand points, were now nothing more than lambs to the slaughter before the Moon-Tracking Blade.

Its expression was thunderous.

But soon, it smiled again.

"An S-Class Weapon?" it murmured under its breath. "Good. Very good."

The President opened its panel, solemnly performed a retinal scan, and a red notification immediately popped up on the screen—[WARNING: You are attempting to summon an untamed, high-risk target. Once summoned, this target will be uncontrollable and may attack any and all targets, including yourself. Do you confirm?]

The President let out a cold laugh and pressed confirm without a moment’s hesitation.

The ground of The Coliseum began to shake violently.

The laughter in the stands died instantly, replaced by terrified screams.

"What’s happening?! Is it an earthquake?!"

"No... it’s not an earthquake... S-something... something is coming out!"

Seraphina Sinclair had just finished off the last monster. Dusting herself off, she saw a massive fissure crack open in the center of The Coliseum floor.

A hand reached out from the fissure.

The hand was woven from countless slender Bone Spikes, each one like a razor-sharp blade, gleaming with a cold, ethereal blue light in the dimness of The Coliseum. A fire, similar to that of the Umbral Bone Golems but deeper and almost black, surged between the spikes.

The hand gripped the edge of the fissure and pulled.

The entire Coliseum trembled violently from the force of that grip.

Next came the head.

It was a head with no facial features, as smooth as a giant osseous sphere.

But its surface was covered in a dense web of cracks, from which churned a black fog that flowed like liquid. The fog spilled from these fissures, coalescing into twisted shapes in the air before slowly dissipating.

As the creature finished climbing out of the fissure, Seraphina Sinclair’s pupils contracted slightly.

It was a colossal skeleton, a behemoth easily three stories tall! Its body was an amalgam of countless bones of varying sizes, all twisted and entwined in a bizarre fashion to form a strange structure that was part organism, part architecture.

"This is..." Seraphina Sinclair murmured.

"The Ashenbone Lord!" someone in the stands shrieked.

"It really is The Ashenbone Lord! A B-level forbidden creature! What is it doing here?!"

"We’re dead, we’re all dead! The Ashenbone Lord can’t be controlled! It’s going to kill us all!"

"Run! Run for your lives!!"

The stands erupted into chaos. The spectators who had just been enjoying the show were now stampeding toward the exits, their screams, curses, and sobs a chaotic mess of sound.

The President stood on its high platform, its smile bordering on maniacal.

The point cost to summon The Ashenbone Lord was two million.

Two million points to trade for the life of one human and half an audience—was it worth it?

It was.

Because the moment it saw the Moon-Tracking Blade in Seraphina Sinclair’s hand, the President understood.

This person was the Life Star of the current cycle. Sooner or later, she would earn the acknowledgment of the Door Key.

And it had already thoroughly offended this rising star.

Killing her here was the best choice!
