Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 2135 - 710: The Gate Finally Opens
No, Celene’s emotions were indeed very turbulent just now!
Shaer’s sarcastic and scheming nature was also very apparent... she was trying to dig the truth out of Celene.
Even though due to their past relationship, Shaer didn’t need much language, not even relying on a few expressions from Celene to get her desired answer, after so much effort, is that it?
Looking at it like it doesn’t matter at all, already pondering the method Asmodeus will use to open the door... the so-called unlocking is actually this Lord of Hell using the slight resonance he has with the Heavenly Mountain, bit by bit merging with the force that seals this Dimensional Gate, until a fixed wave pattern forms between the two: unless it’s a door that can’t be opened once closed, as long as this resonance pattern is found, the key will naturally be mastered.
Even with such an ability, not everyone can easily and freely find that segment of waves like Asmodeus.
Just like everyone knows that the composition of a password lock consists only of the digits 0-9, but figuring out the password requires a lot more... the password dial on the door to Heavenly Mountain is densely packed.
Definitely not just a three-compartment suitcase that can be opened with a bit of luck.
But this thing must have some kind of formula.
Even if the Gods of Order at Heavenly Mountain would absolutely not remember wrong, they must worry... about one of their colleagues suddenly locking the door, right?
Given their means of dealing with Asmodeus and his battle angels, saying the trust level between these Gods of Order is very high, nobody would believe it.
So they must leave themselves a way out.
Which is, some complex formula for the password.
Then, everyone makes an oath to ensure no one can spread this formula.
Of course, the formula would naturally be altered when encountering unexpected events... like the departure of a God of Order who also knows this formula.
But, Asmodeus and his team only know the password, not the formula.
Judging from the past performance of this former King of Angels, he has probably been bitterly resentful about it for a long time... although he switched a few mana fluctuations, he has always been able to affect that Dimensional Gate.
Clearly, he knows exactly where these formulas come from.
Even if he doesn’t know the actual formula content, he can guess the final result by relying on his bit of resonance with his old home... just like those mathematical conjectures.
Although mathematicians don’t know if the answer is correct, they rely on some kind of resonance with numbers to directly confirm the answer.
And Asmodeus only needs the result from this conjecture.
Anyway, he can keep trying back and forth.
"Are the angels of Heavenly Mountain all dead?" Celene asked with a frown, "Just waiting for Asmodeus to open the door?"
"Oh, they’re basically all dead." Lansendel answered gently.
"Hmm?" Celene sensitively turned her head towards him, "You and Shaer are staying together?
Tsk tsk~
When did you change your attitude towards Shaer?
Both sides are... so peaceful?"
Lansendel looked baffled: "What are you talking about? I don’t understand.
Isn’t this about watching Heavenly Mountain now?
Why shouldn’t I go watch the show instead of causing trouble for Shaer!"
Hill keenly noticed the hint of a cold smile showing at Shaer’s lips.
And deduced a bit... AO wanting Apollo definitely has something to do with Lansendel.
Of course, Amanata is probably the main target.
But from the beginning until now, Lansendel has remained strong, never successfully weakened, always getting dragged into things.
AO is such an old silver coin, who doesn’t give it a couple of slaps?
He even didn’t let Shuni, who has little fighting power, off.
Even though Lansendel is strong, he didn’t make himself stronger... even when his belief was at its peak, he had better relationships with elves.
And the belief from elves is what it is... it’s not useless, but it’s not enough for Lansendel to make much progress.
Therefore, Hill was not surprised at discovering AO again trying to target Lansendel... his surprise was in his own quick reaction.
In the past, had Shaer not sneered twice, he wouldn’t have reacted at all.
Just shows, going out really does train a person!
He’s even able to read faces now!
But Lansendel, this guy, is really skilled at handling Celene, who has no brains and just wants to stir things up!
He didn’t even consider what Celene’s words implied, just calmly blocked it.
Though Hill is sensitive to malice, he can’t be as smooth as Lansendel.
Hill can only express dissatisfaction through silence or direct denial, or by sarcastically returning the sentiment.
Indeed, no matter how youthful Lansendel looks, he’s lived for so many years... he’s used to the adults’ world.
Unlike Hill, really, constantly learning all the time.
Before today, who could have thought, among the three deities sitting there, the one stirring trouble and digging pits would be Silvermoon Maiden Celene?
And the one watching the spectacle silently would be Lady of the Night Shaer.
Most importantly, the one being schemed against was Lord of Dawn Lansendel.
The more one has seen, the more complex the world seems... Hill, of course, had long known that complex worlds are everywhere.
Including the world he once knew and still misses.
He indeed loves civil engineering deeply, but he also knows, without someone behind him, no matter how smart he is, entering that circle wouldn’t make living easy.
When he graduated, in his class of fifteen people... typically they were all in a combined program from undergraduate to master’s degree, by the time he was forced to incarnate again, there were only five left in the circle.
Among them, two went on to become teachers at school.
Entered and went about their business, and mysteriously lost their lives, there were two.
Of course, among the remaining three people, Hill was probably the least accomplished... even at that age, still climbing construction sites every day.
But that was his own choice.
He chose a more comfortable and preferred lifestyle.
Yet at this moment, Hill suddenly realized why he still yearned... at least, he could give up climbing, live his desired carefree days.
Despite competitors’ ruthless tactics, if one is willing to give up, they can live on, and even live well.
After all, there are technical skills.
But in this world, regardless of how powerful one is, there’s no absolute stability to be had.
No matter where you are, no matter who stands behind you... when there’s need, others will plot against you.
And it’s not like having a powerful boss above you can shield it all.
Individual strength becomes the natural course of the current situation... wanting to fully enjoy life might lead to drowning in happiness.
Even Lords of Hell, Demon Princes don’t have stable days to live.
Definitely, even something as ancient as the Styx, from the earliest days of the Multiverse, is being schemed against!
The World Tree and Elemental Realm might seem inactive, but that’s only because Hill hasn’t encountered them, not that there’s absolutely nothing.
Hill silently sighed, boosting himself a bit: why worry so much?
You don’t even have the qualifications to consider these power struggles among the strong... rather than that, first think about how to catch up on your Mage Level!
Hill quietly recalled how many unread books were still in his Magic Tower... not limited to Magic Books.
He can even take a look at those Books of Prophecy now.
Previously, Hill dared not look because he couldn’t discern whether the content in those Books of Prophecy was straightforward statements or misleading language.
After all, prophecies sometimes are hidden in chaotic sentences... those with strong inspiration might be influenced upon reading.
Hill doesn’t want to become the next Cyric.
Not every boasting book can drive the Lord of Lies mad... but that one was a ridiculous prophecy written by a Prophecy Mage.
And it was Cyric believing that prophecy which led to his madness.
But now Hill doesn’t need to worry... of course, it’s not that he fears any prophecy’s feasibility might sway him.
Rather, he’s afraid he’ll be inexplicably affected by the words of those prophecies.
Yet now, he can fully discern which paragraph carries hidden murder intent.
He doesn’t need to worry about learning a novel and inadvertently knowing a possible, or purposely created ’future’.
In other words, Hill now has thousands more books he can read.
Hill estimated, finishing these books might, hopefully, help him achieve the remaining half-step level advancement.
Then, he needs to consider what comes after the Third Level... just thinking about it seems a bit hopeless.
Hill touched the small statue in his sleeve, feeling a bit uneasy inside.
"Opened!" Celene probably just casually wanted to mess with Lansendel a bit, but it wasn’t a must, so her focus shifted again to that Dimensional Gate.
On the giant screen, the handsome and wicked Lord of Hell, dressed in a blood-red robe, was laughing wildly, "Ha~
Finally, my time of slaughter has arrived!"
"Hmm?" Celene couldn’t help but squint, "Has Asmodeus been reading some idiotic novels?"
