Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 2274 - 849: A Very Annoyed Old Age Striking King
Josh’s tone was immensely complicated, filled with disbelief and incredulity, with a hint of ’look at what you’re saying’ and ’spare your poor believers’ mixed in.
But even Shaer could understand him.
Although the Dawn Believers are always willing to follow Lansendel and act according to his will, it doesn’t mean they don’t think their Main God is kind of crazy.
They know full well that what Lansendel is doing is abnormal, yet they still follow without hesitation.
So, Josh truly doesn’t believe that there is anyone in this universe more hopeless than their Main God, more capable of giving AO a headache.
Don’t be fooled by Celene and Shaer’s madness... but their actions are actually understandable.
Shaer has always been single-minded in her goals, so we can set her aside for now.
The one who can be compared to his family’s Main God is Celene; most of her actions are actually comprehensible... that Silvermoon Maiden simply wants her own happiness.
Everything she does starts from ’I want’.
Lansendel, however, is different.
Sometimes what he does without hesitation seems to stem from ’I want’, but it’s not for himself.
The Dawn Believers, of course, love him for this, but it doesn’t mean they think their big boss is someone anyone can understand.
He actually heard that his Main God was talking about the new generation of Goddess of Magic... Josh wouldn’t be surprised if Midnight ended up playing herself to death.
He’s just being melodramatic, not lacking in understanding.
But Josh always felt that AO wouldn’t let Midnight step down so easily.
That old man is very confident, always shielding the deities he has chosen.
If it weren’t for him, how could Cyric live so comfortably?
And as for Midnight, whom the old man promoted, no matter how brainless that woman might be, she would have to die three to five times and walk the Path of Destiny a few times to test her quality, right?
Josh patted his pocket and decided to accelerate the construction of his Dawn Tower... he really needed some precise inside information.
-----------------
The spectators from the heavens, earth, and even the underground could be guessed by the ’Old Age Striking King’ even if unseen.
But she remained extremely composed.
Her wolverine was also similarly poised and confident.
He even had the leisure to ask the ’Old Age Striking King’, "Well? Do you need a second acceleration?"
The ’Old Age Striking King’ thought for a moment, then turned to observe again before shaking her head, "The stains on that remnant page are surely burned away; as for the rest... if there are any, they aren’t things he can burn away by himself, we’ll go back to Lansendel."
"Don’t worry about me, it’s just sleeping for three days," the wolverine said stably, "You won’t feel the time even when asleep."
"Burning your own bloodline is not something you should do." The ’Old Age Striking King’ spoke earnestly, "I know you’ve always been troubled by the possibility of being controlled by a bloodline mark, but I really don’t think igniting your essence blood is a good idea.
If this worked, Merkel definitely wouldn’t have found himself at a dead end.
That panther is terrifyingly smart and very understanding of human nature — if even he can’t do it, then you shouldn’t rely on your own wild guesses.
Those mages already understand the principle, and there are so many foolish magical beasts wandering in the Monster Nation!
You don’t need to take risks yourself."
The wolverine shook his head, "I wasn’t thinking..."
"Yeah right." The ’Old Age Striking King’ interrupted her friend bluntly, "You’re just stubbornly fixated.
But, the wolverine is naturally like this, so I’m not surprised.
Just obediently listen to me; I’ll be with you."
She suddenly leaped up, spun around mid-air, and that beam of golden light directly rushed into the Emerald Scripture held high in both her hands.
Then she furrowed her brows sharply, turned around, and took the wolverine away.
Ahead lay towering peaks stretching to the sky.
To return to Hill’s Magic Tower, one must pass through a winding path.
Usually just climbing is a bit dangerous, but now it’s packed with onlookers.
Their joyful stance in watching the spectacle brought a shadow to ’Old Age Striking King’s’ heart.
Then among the dense crowd, someone turned around and saw the solemn-faced little loli at the foot of the mountain, "Old Age Striking King is back! Why is no one ambushing her?"
Upon hearing this, ’Old Age Striking King’s’ expression was quite colorful.
She certainly knew, for the Scattered Ones, when someone comes out to challenge their Proud Sky Alliance, such entertainment must be watched, and the more lively the better.
If they could fight for three days and nights, the forums might begin large-scale live commentary, maybe even some combat power analysis.
But she’s still here!
She took a deep breath heavily... but that’s normal too.
The Scattered Ones, individually, definitely wouldn’t dare provoke members of such big families like them.
When gathered together, they dared to do anything.
No matter how many people there were in the Proud Sky Alliance, or how strong their combat power was, it’s impossible for them to become a ’bullying force against the Scattered Ones’ over a few words, a trivial matter.
If the other side swears, then it doesn’t matter... they just don’t easily start wars, but they certainly wouldn’t wrong themselves.
But in a situation like now, even the most stubborn and foul-tempered ’Old Age Striking King’ could only pretend not to hear.
She placed her hand on her forehead and silently looked upward.
Soon, she saw a familiar figure fighting in mid-air.
Although she couldn’t see the face yet, the way he fought with unpredictable circles tossing thunder and fire was unmistakably ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust.’
A regular person wouldn’t be able to circle in such a completely random way... Even if they forced themselves not to circle in one direction, speed, or angle, there would always be some consistency due to habit.
’Old Age Striking King’ couldn’t do this herself.
She came from a martial arts background, and while she practiced the art of making a punch formless, the punch’s style, force, and angle of delivery inevitably formed a pattern due to years of training.
Even when walking, the length of her strides was about the same.
That’s why she asked ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ to teach Edna.
A mage’s spell practice is actually quite like martial arts training... the ultimate goal is to act naturally, but the process is built on effort that forms a habit.
When the mages in Toril fight, they seem dashing and natural, but if you’re a bit familiar, you can tell what spell they’re going to use with just a lift of a hand or foot.
Even for instant spells, some mages can’t help but gesture with their hands.
’Old Age Striking King’ certainly didn’t want Edna to end up like that.
Of course, now, she’s certainly no longer worried that Edna will suffer misfortune due to some bad habits being caught.
But if Edna could learn that unexpected way of thinking from ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust,’ her future would certainly be safer... that guy’s a tactical commander; he has his own logic.
Just different from others.
In that wicked place, Toril, rule-followers, whether human or deity, don’t have it easy.
But being too unruly might leave you with no life to live.
’Old Age Striking King’ sincerely hopes her Edna can find a path that allows her to live comfortably and safely.
Her eyebrows twitched slightly, and she suddenly dashed straight towards the steep cliff beside her.
Among the crowd, indeed, over a dozen swordsmen charged directly at her.
Those dealing with ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ also included mages... primarily to harass him.
Although their damage wasn’t huge, if they hit him, they could always slow his speed a bit.
But against ’Old Age Striking King,’ who was a priest, not a single mage came over.
"They know me quite well." ’Old Age Striking King’ muttered... she also realized that there must be some problem within the Proud Sky Alliance.
But the fact that they only sent over a dozen swordsmen showed they clearly didn’t know the details well.
It’s probably a problem among those older members who are more familiar with the management.
She pulled a faint cold smile... Although she spoke kindly with her family wolverine, how could she possibly not be annoyed?
When that hook-nosed guy was spouting nonsense, ’Old Age Striking King’ wasn’t entirely ignoring it.
At least this bunch’s method of disguising their presence, that ugly man confidently revealed.
He threw a bunch of modifiers, but as someone from a deeply agriculture-loving nation, how could she not understand what this group concocted!
However beautifully manure is described, its essence is still just that stuff.
Why did she unleash a big move immediately and summon the true flames of Dawn Fire to burn that small building to ashes... wasn’t it precisely because she didn’t want people later to discover a cesspit there?
As long as it wasn’t seen firsthand, all legends are just rumors.
Yet, no matter how much ’Old Age Striking King’ comforted herself, her heart was still a tangled mess of rage.
These swordsmen, they came just right.
Looking at the swordsmen reaching the bottom of the cliff where she was, ’Old Age Striking King’ smiled slightly, leaped into the air, clamping her two radish legs around a swordsman’s head and twisted fiercely.
More than a dozen long swords that were thrusting towards her stabbed right into the body of the swordsman she twisted in front of her.
’Old Age Striking King’ let out a fierce laugh, spun up from the corpse, and swung her small fist viciously at the nearest swordsman’s head.
As his skull was driven into his neck, the swordsmen beside him, who had just withdrawn their long swords from their comrade, felt a sharp pain in their backs.
A gigantic wolverine rose behind them, taking several lives with its claws and fangs.
At just a face-off, at least six lives were lost, leaving these swordsmen panic-stricken, calling for help in the distance.
So, soon, ’Old Age Striking King’ joined up with ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust.’
"Old Age?" ’Rain Falling on Mortal Dust’ circled above her head, "Why are you only coming now?"
