"Hey, isn’t this the puppet that Xiong Qi or George mentioned last time? They brought it up back when we first arrived here, too, if I remember right."

Song Xizheng looked over and realized the puppet Lin Yun was pointing at was, in fact, the very same one from their previous visit.

Lin Yun remembered it clearly now, the memory coming back to her all at once.

Yet the puppet simply hung there quietly on the wall, letting the two of them stare at it for as long as they liked without so much as a single twitch.

"Never mind about that for now, let’s just go in."

Lin Yun frowned deeply. There was definitely something fishy about this puppet, but since it stubbornly refused to move, there wasn’t much she could really say about it.

Song Xizheng opened the door and stepped inside. The tourists who were already seated and waiting immediately turned their eyes toward him all at once.

He paused for a moment.

He glanced around the seats and found that the back rows were completely full, and it seemed that only the front rows were left.

Hmm, was it already too late to slip back outside and find that baby-faced attendant, just to buy themselves a little more time?

Something felt off.

"Why aren’t you going in?" Lin Yun asked from behind him, wondering why Song Xizheng had stopped moving.

Song Xizheng had no choice but to bite the bullet and step inside, and only then did Lin Yun notice the same problem herself.

The two had little choice but to walk toward the front.

They walked all the way up to the very first row.

Only a few seats right in the very middle of the first row remained empty, as though they had been left there deliberately for them.

The two exchanged a glance; it seemed they had made entirely the wrong choice by coming to the puppet theater today.

But leaving now would probably be difficult, given how many eyes were already on them.

So they bit the bullet once more and sat down together in the middle of the row.

Once they were seated, the curtain on the stage slowly drew back.

"The Amusement Park" had started well ahead of its announced schedule.

Many puppets stood arranged across the stage, and the instant the curtain was fully open, they rushed out all at once toward the audience.

The tourists seated below the stage descended into chaos as well, all at the very same moment.

They all leapt to their feet at once and surged toward the front of the theater.

"Damn, what’s going on?!" Song Xizheng was stunned by the sudden turn of events and quickly drew his weapon to deal with it.

Lin Yun pulled out her vine staff as well and lashed it hard at the charging puppets.

"Never mind what’s going on — how could they possibly let us have an easy time on the last day?!"

Inside the backpack, Sang Biao unzipped it and joined the battle alongside Tuan Tuan.

The two creatures instantly grew to enormous sizes, each swipe of their claws turning a puppet into scattered wooden pieces.

Ghost Vine didn’t grow to a gigantic size; it stayed wrapped snugly around Lin Yun, making sure nothing strange could attach itself to her while she fought.

"Huh? Sister Lin, when did you get another one?"

"As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat!"

Song Xizheng immediately shut his mouth, promising not to ask anything more, so long as Sister Lin would let him pet the cat later on.

However, there were far too many puppets in the theater.

Those tourists weren’t real tourists at all; they were puppet tourists created by the puppet theater itself.

While fighting, Lin Yun noticed out of the corner of her eye that the theater door had been pushed open, and a number of puppets were now pouring in from outside.

She spotted the puppet that had been hanging on the wall — the one she’d noticed before entering!

She’d said there was something wrong with that puppet.

"Sister Lin, let’s run outside! Then we’ll grab that little red flower notebook from the baby-faced guy, otherwise we’ll be one task short today!"

Even in the middle of the fight, Song Xizheng hadn’t forgotten that their mission for the day was still unfinished.

"Good, let’s do that!"

With their two heavy hitters, Sang Biao and Tuan Tuan, both the puppet tourists and the stage puppets were beaten to pieces, leaving only the puppets running in from the entrance.

"Ha—"

Sang Biao suddenly hissed toward the door.

Nalan held a knife to Song Zhenzhen’s neck and forced her to walk inside from the corridor outside.

"You two, don’t worry about me — run if you can!"

Song Zhenzhen had never expected to run into Lin Yun and Song Xizheng here of all places. She wondered why Nalan would suddenly bring her to this particular place.

Lin Yun was dumbfounded as well. How had Song Zhenzhen been captured so suddenly, without any warning at all?

"You two and those two giant beasts should obediently let the puppets tie you up, or I’ll kill her."

Nalan pressed the knife harder against Song Zhenzhen’s neck, instantly leaving a thin, bloody gash across her skin.

"Oh, then go ahead and kill her. I don’t even know her."

Lin Yun’s voice was cold and flat, showing no concern whatsoever for Song Zhenzhen’s anger.

Nalan sneered coldly. "Really? But I saw you two playing together before. Could I have been mistaken about that?"

"Who says playing together makes people good friends? Don’t you know what a superficial friend is?" Lin Yun retorted.

Song Xizheng immediately distanced himself from Lin Yun too, nodding along eagerly. "That’s right, we’re all just friends on the surface. When disaster strikes, we all go our separate ways, you know?"

Nalan looked at the two of them, somewhat confused. Although she hadn’t watched them the whole time, she knew they often acted together as a pair. So why were they behaving like this now?

No, that wasn’t right — it had to be a treacherous plot!

"Stop talking nonsense! If you want her to live, behave yourselves!"

Just then, the baby-faced attendant suddenly appeared behind Nalan, quietly raising one leg in preparation. "Get lost! You’re always causing trouble, aren’t you? I’ll kick you to death!"

Lin Yun and Song Xizheng, both at once: "???"

What on earth was going on?

Wasn’t the baby-faced attendant supposed to be wearing a green vest, like the rest of the staff? How had they suddenly started fighting among themselves like this?

Nalan knew someone was approaching from behind, but seeing that familiar color, she simply paid it no mind whatsoever.

Who could have guessed this baby-faced attendant would betray her?

Because of the baby-faced attendant’s sudden kick, Nalan was forced to loosen her grip on Song Zhenzhen.

Seizing the opportunity, Song Zhenzhen moved away from Nalan and quickly drew her weapon to attack.

Once Lin Yun and Song Xizheng understood what was happening, they rushed forward and attacked Nalan too.

"I’m telling you, stop fighting first — getting the little red flowers stamped is what matters!" the baby-faced attendant said anxiously, seeing them fighting again.

Then a vine stretched out.

Baby face: "?"

Cautiously, the attendant took the little red flower notebook out of her pocket and held it out.

The vine instantly snatched the notebook away.

Baby face: "..."

Three people plus two oversized creatures, a giant cat and a giant tiger, quickly overpowered Nalan between them.

"All right, all right, hurry up and go now. Just leave Nalan to me. Things are already chaotic outside. You should find somewhere safe to hide as soon as you possibly can."

The baby-faced attendant quickly stepped forward and urged the three of them to leave.

Lin Yun stared warily at the baby-faced attendant, refusing to lower her guard. "Who are you? Why are you helping us?"

Knowing they didn’t believe her, the baby-faced attendant smiled at them. "A year ago, it was Linglan who saved me, otherwise I would have died in the castle."

"Nalan is no good, and Vivian is no good either. I know that, so I want to rebel."

"Then why hand Nalan over to us? Why not just kill her yourself?"

Song Zhenzhen sneered, then pulled out a gun and fired a shot at Nalan.

The baby-faced attendant paused, considering it. "That does seem to be true, huh?"

"You bastard Wenxi, how dare you betray your master! When I see my master, I’ll make you pay!"

Despite being shot, Nalan was still alive. She endured the pain through gritted teeth and cursed furiously at the baby-faced attendant.

The baby-faced attendant shrugged indifferently, seemingly unbothered by the curse. "Whatever. After today, it’s either you or me who dies. Rather than continue being persecuted by you, I might as well take a gamble. What if I succeed?"
