Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 235: Crocodile Lan
“Holy crap, can we even handle this?”
Qi Zhu was startled by the monster that bumped into him. It had to be over two meters tall, and it was so burly. If it pounced on him, wouldn’t he be crushed to death?
“What are you thinking? Run! We’re so close to the giant rat tribe. If we don’t run, they’ll find us and come after us!”
Lin Yun quickly pulled the two of them up. She had rescued these people with great difficulty, and she could not let them be taken back. As for the monsters chasing them, she would kill them once they had run far away to a secluded place. However, there were no open spaces in Monster City. It was full of houses, and to find an open space one had to leave the city. That left Lin Yun with no way to plant the new house seed she had bought.
With no other option, they could only run for their lives, scurrying through the streets of Monster City with the monsters on their heels. But the monsters behind them kept increasing in number, which made Lin Yun even angrier, and she started cursing. What a miscalculation! They should have stayed in the giant rat tribe’s territory and come out just before dawn. But it was no use saying anything now. They were caught between a rock and a hard place, so it did not matter which one they chose.
Just then, the door of a shop on the street opened silently. As Lin Yun and the others ran past, someone quickly pulled them inside. The three of them never expected that someone would save them at this moment, and before they knew it, they had been pulled in.
Sang Biao was too lazy to run anymore. Taking advantage of the darkness, with no lights on, he dashed inside and grabbed Lin Yun’s leg. Lin Yun felt the weight on her feet and knew that Sang Biao had returned.
“Who are you?”
In the darkness, Lin Yun could not see the other person’s face clearly, so she could only watch warily in the direction of the breathing. Qi Zhu had already drawn his weapon and was facing away from the door.
“Miss Shu Nan, it’s me,” Crocodile Lan said.
He had been unable to sleep, so he had gotten up and looked out the window at the night view, though there was not much to see. But he had been surprised to find that someone seemed to have run past outside. Crocodile Lan had looked closely and seen three people, one of whom seemed to be Miss Shu Nan. Although he did not know why she was being chased by those monsters, he did not want her to get hurt. So after confirming that it was Miss Shu Nan, he had gone downstairs and waited by the door for her to pass by so that he could rescue her. As for the two people beside her, since they were with Miss Shu Nan, they must be her friends. It was good to help them out too. That was why he had pulled Lin Yun and the other two into the shop.
Upon hearing the voice, Lin Yun realized that it was the crocodile tribesman she had met near Aino’s house that afternoon. She had never expected that this person would actually help her.
“Miss Shu Nan, you and your friends can stay here without worry and leave after dawn.”
Knowing they were unfamiliar with the place, Crocodile Lan quickly described some of the furnishings in his shop so that they would not bump into anything in the dark.
Lin Yun pursed her lips. She felt sorry for the real Miss Shu Nan, but she had no choice but to shamelessly take advantage of this Mr. Crocodile.
“Thanks.”
Crocodile Lan was taken aback, then became somewhat happy. Miss Shu Nan had actually thanked him. This was the first time she had ever done that. In the past, although Miss Shu Nan would accept his kindness, she had never said thank you or given him a second glance. If that was the case, did that mean Miss Shu Nan had finally noticed him? He was somewhat happy, but he did not dare show it too obviously, for fear of upsetting Miss Shu Nan and losing even this little bit of goodwill.
“You’re welcome. It’s what I should do. By the way, I’ve already drawn the curtains. If you want some light, that’s fine, but it needs to be dim, not too bright.”
He added this because the shop was dark, and he was really afraid that Miss Shu Nan would bump into something.
Qi Zhu and Dong Nian remained as quiet as chickens, not daring to utter a sound. They only needed to obediently follow the big boss now. As for who this guy was, they could not care.
“Okay, go to sleep. We’ll leave as soon as it’s light.” Lin Yun started shooing him away.
Crocodile Lan nodded, then remembered that Miss Shu Nan could not see, and quickly replied, “Okay, then I’ll go upstairs. You all should rest now.”
As for why Miss Shu Nan was running around with two people and being chased by monsters, he did not ask a single question.
Crocodile Lan walked toward the stairs in the dark. This was a property of the Crocodile Clan’s Chief, the only property his father had entrusted to him to manage, so he was already very familiar with it. Even in the dark, he was able to find his way to the stairs. Soon, he stepped onto them and walked upstairs step by step.
Not long after, Sang Biao patted Lin Yun’s leg with his paw, indicating that the other party had gone upstairs and was no longer on the first floor.
“He’s gone. You can talk now.”
Qi Zhu and Dong Nian both breathed a sigh of relief. “Phew, so we’re safe now, right?”
“Yes, you’re safe now. That crocodile knows you’re human, but just in case, use your racial perfume as soon as it’s light tomorrow, and then leave this place immediately.”
“I feel much safer once I start using racial perfume.”
With the help of the Ghost Vine and Sang Biao, Lin Yun found a chair and sat down. “Would you like a seat?”
Qi Zhu quickly replied, “No need, boss. We can just sit on the floor. Thank you so much, big boss, for getting us out of jail. We’ve been locked up for two days, and without your help, we don’t know when we’d have gotten out.”
Dong Nian plopped down on the ground, remembered how Lin Yun had rescued them, and quickly expressed her gratitude too.
Lin Yun nodded. “After dawn, use the racial perfume, buy house seeds, then leave Monster City and find a place to plant them.”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. Although we’ve been locked up, we know all this.”
Sang Biao jumped onto Lin Yun’s lap, found a comfortable spot to lie down, and even yawned, looking a little sleepy.
“Let’s rest for a while. It’s a little past four o’clock now, and it won’t be dawn for another hour or two.”
With that, Lin Yun closed her eyes to rest. She was already quite tired after working for most of the day.
“System, have I completed my task?”
[Not yet. It won’t be finished until dawn, when they use their racial perfume.]
Lin Yun: “…”
“Isn’t it complete once we’ve left the dungeon and the giant rat tribe? That would explain why I haven’t received any notification.”
[Because the prison incident has been exposed, the giant rat tribe is now arresting people everywhere in their territory. If it weren’t still dark, they would all be out there making arrests already.]
“Did Aino and the others successfully rescue the humans?”
[Yes. According to the system check, they did rescue the humans.]
