Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches

Chapter 88 The 16th Day of the Zombie World

As the inflatable pool floated along the surface of the water, Lin Yun also spotted tiny insects drifting across it, making her scalp tingle.

Fortunately, Ghost Vine was clever. Whenever a small insect tried to climb up, its vines would immediately lash out and knock it away.

The rain outside was still pouring heavily, and Lin Yun didn’t know when the floodwater would rise enough to submerge the entire first floor. She had to hurry and reach the back stairwell.

Once she approached the stairs, Lin Yun carefully climbed out of the inflatable pool, stuffed the two little ones into her backpack, and then put the inflatable pool inside as well.

She had to put it away.

She was afraid that if she left it outside, all the insects and rats floating on the water would crawl into it, and she would be doomed.

Lin Yun hurried up to the second floor, removed the vines securing the security door, and entered the corridor.

She opened a window in the corridor, but rainwater immediately splashed inside.

With no choice, she quickly closed it again and looked outside through the glass.

The rain was extremely heavy, and many places had already been flooded. Numerous objects were floating on the water in the distance.

From the window, Lin Yun could see what was happening on the other side of the square.

Although she and Song Xizheng had collected many of the zombies from the square, there were still plenty of corpses that had never turned into zombies, along with things that had been left behind or eaten by the zombies.

Once everything was submerged in water, wouldn’t all of it float to the surface?

Sure enough, at a glance, Lin Yun could see numerous corpses and other filthy objects floating on the water.

Lin Yun frowned again.

Fortunately, she and Song Xizheng had collected most of the items from the underground supermarket a few days ago.

It was just a pity that they had forgotten to put away the spoiled food.

But after thinking about it carefully, it didn’t really matter.

She wasn’t short of food anymore.

Lin Yun moved to another window and continued observing the situation.

The cars that had been parked along the road were already submerged in the floodwater. The objects floating on the surface were similar to those in the square.

It simply wasn’t as severe yet.

At that moment, Lin Yun suddenly heard a rustling sound.

She turned her head and saw a group of rats that had somehow climbed up from the flooded first floor!

Lin Yun’s expression immediately darkened.

She quickly took out a Frost Sunflower Seed and threw it onto the ground.

The Frost Sunflower Seed instantly activated, freezing the rats rushing toward Lin Yun in place.

The leader of the mutant rats, who had been hiding behind the others and directing the attack, was dumbfounded.

They had spotted humans hiding nearby over the past two days, but none of them looked like this!

What... what was that thing?!

The leader of the mutant rats was filled with suspicion and apprehension. Its tiny eyes glimmered with fear.

Damn it!

If rats could mutate, then humans could mutate too!

Those damned humans... sooner or later, it would find a way to wipe them all out!

There weren’t many rats that had developed higher intelligence yet, and it couldn’t afford to lose them all here.

Thinking of this, the leader of the mutant rats quickly ordered the remaining rats to retreat.

Lin Yun didn’t chase after them.

If the rats really wanted to escape, she wouldn’t be able to catch them.

Those rats knew how to hide far better than she did. After all, they lived here and knew exactly where they could hide without being discovered.

After the rats left, Lin Yun looked out the window again.

She could only hope that the water level wouldn’t rise any higher.

Otherwise, things would become truly dangerous.

After investigating the situation, Lin Yun returned to the Shelter.

As for the inflatable pool, Lin Yun no longer wanted it. She simply punctured it and let it sink into the floodwater.

If this continued, it was only a matter of time before the first floor was completely flooded.

And once that happened, she wouldn’t be able to leave the building.

Lin Yun was right again.

The torrential rain continued for the rest of the day.

The first floor was completely flooded, and the water gradually began rising toward the second floor.

However, Lin Yun couldn’t get outside, so she had no way of knowing exactly how high the floodwater had risen.

She had already closed the windows as well.

The main reason was that strange things kept floating past outside, and Lin Yun didn’t want to accidentally glance out the window and get startled every time.

Whenever this happened, Lin Yun couldn’t help thinking:

If the ground was flooded, what would happen to the zombies?

Had they been submerged?

Or had they been swept away?

Lin Yun felt that something was wrong, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

The torrential rain lasted for a total of twelve days.

By then, Lin Yun had long since grown accustomed to waking up every day to the sound of rain and flowing water outside, accompanied by the occasional continuous rumble of thunder.

Sitting up in bed, Lin Yun yawned again and opened her personal panel to check the day’s weather forecast.

It had become a habit recently.

She really hoped the rain would stop soon, or she was afraid she would start growing mold herself.

[Zombie World — Day 16, 07:13]

[Weather: Heavy Rain (Rainfall will decrease in 5 hours)]

Lin Yun’s sleepy eyes immediately lit up when she saw the words following "Heavy Rain."

The rain outside was finally going to weaken!

She turned toward the window, wondering when the floodwater would finally recede.

But when she thought about it, Lin Yun’s expression darkened again.

After a major disaster, there would inevitably be an epidemic.

After the zombie virus outbreak in this world, so many people had died outside, and no one had come to collect their bodies.

She couldn’t even imagine how serious the problems would become once the floodwater receded.

Lin Yun sighed again.

But these things had nothing to do with her.

All she could do was take care of herself.

She got up, washed up, and then took out a box of dumplings for breakfast.

"Youyou, when are we finally going outside to play? It’s so boring in the Shelter."

Sang Biao stretched lazily.

He had been stuck inside the Shelter for so long that every hair on his body seemed to be protesting. He wanted to go outside and play!

Tuan Tuan was doing fine.

She was accustomed to staying in one place. Although it was a little boring, she had someone to keep her company and toys to play with, so she didn’t really want to go outside.

Lin Yun patted the cat’s head again.

"Good boy. Let’s wait until the water recedes. There will definitely be an epidemic after the floodwater goes down. Behave yourselves and don’t run outside. If you get infected, you’ll be doomed."

Sang Biao immediately shrank his neck.

He knew what infection meant.

Back when there were still people around to clean up after them, the neighbor’s kitten had died from some kind of illness.

If he got infected too, wouldn’t Youyou end up crying her eyes out like that neighbor?

Sang Biao shook his head frantically.

No, no!

Just imagining that scene was terrifying.

How could he possibly get infected and die?

He didn’t want to die.

He wanted to stay with Youyou forever.

Lin Yun patted Tuan Tuan, who was obediently lying at her feet.

"Tuan Tuan, you’re the same. You’re not allowed to run around outside either, understand?"

Tuan Tuan let out a soft howl.

With plenty of time before the heavy rain weakened, Lin Yun decided to continue exercising.

After finishing her workout, she began tending to her sunflowers.

She had planted the ordinary sunflower seeds half a month ago. They had already sprouted and entered the seedling stage, but they weren’t growing very quickly.

They were nowhere near as fast-growing as the vegetables.
