Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 93 The Noise in the Middle of the Night
[Please, I’m begging you. What kind of world is this? This is a zombie world! How could a mutated rose possibly produce a flower that can cure the zombie virus?!]
[If I let you get something like that, wouldn’t that be a problem? You might as well just take the mutated roses and trade them with the natives. What would that have to do with the zombies?!]
The system rolled its eyes.
This Lin Yun again?
Was she really trying to take a shortcut by relying on the mutated rose?
Had she even asked the system first?
Absolutely not!
It was all the Ghost Vine’s fault!
That little brat had even secretly stolen the mutated rose!
Lin Yun silently shut her mouth.
Well, the system had seen right through her. There was nothing she could do about it.
She looked at the other roses.
[Infectious Disease Rose: Specifically treats various infectious diseases.]
Lin Yun picked a few roses and asked, "Rose, can I eat these flowers?"
[Eat up, eat up. They’re sweet.]
The mutated rose yawned, seemingly satisfied that its task was complete.
Since there was nothing else to do, it could go back to sleep.
After saying that, the mutated rose fell silent and went back to sleep.
Lin Yun: "..."
No wonder it was the king of slacking off.
Lin Yun picked a few more Infectious Disease Roses before putting the mutated roses back into the contract list.
"Come on, Sang Biao, Tuan Tuan. Eat the flowers."
She gave one flower to each of them and placed them in front of them.
Lin Yun then looked at the two vines, which had started fighting again, and felt somewhat speechless.
"Why do you two fight every single day?"
The two vines froze, quickly retracted their tendrils, and obediently settled down.
There was nothing strange about it. They were both vines, after all. It was only natural for them to fight.
As for the rose?
It was simply too lazy!
Ivy and the Ghost Vine had both tried provoking it before, but it was always sleeping. No matter how much they bothered it, they couldn’t wake it up.
In the end, they could only give up on their target and continue fighting with each other.
"Little Vine, you have one too."
Lin Yun plucked off a flower’s petals and placed them on the table, letting the Ghost Vine deal with them herself.
She also tossed a flower into the pots containing Ivy and the Pothos.
She didn’t know whether the flowers would have any effect on them, but since she had the means to do it, she might as well treat everyone equally.
Seeing that Sang Biao was still poking at the roses, Lin Yun impatiently urged him to hurry up.
Meanwhile, Tuan Tuan, who was standing nearby, had already obediently swallowed its flower whole with a loud whimper.
After eating one herself, Lin Yun began her daily workout.
...
Midnight.
A commotion suddenly came from the third floor of the mall.
The zombies that had been standing in neat rows opened their eyes one after another, as though they had received some kind of command.
Then, one after another, they began making their way down the escalator.
After reaching the first floor, they continued toward the mall’s entrance.
Eventually, they arrived at the square.
The zombies crowded into the square, all of them looking up at the sky and allowing the rain to drench their bodies.
They stood there motionlessly, getting soaked in the rain as though they were performing some kind of strange ritual.
After a long while, it was as if the zombies had suddenly been released.
They began moving.
They roared and pounced upon one another, tearing into and devouring each other’s bodies.
At the same time, the rain grew heavier and heavier, as if it were deliberately trying to drown out the strange noises coming from the square in the middle of the night.
Gradually, the rain weakened again, eventually becoming as light as it had been during the day.
By then, only piles of mostly devoured zombie corpses remained scattered across the square.
The other zombies had disappeared without a trace.
The square finally returned to silence.
By this time, dawn was approaching.
Lin Yun opened her eyes and sat up in bed.
For some reason, she had been half-awake for most of the night and hadn’t slept well.
She rubbed her eyes and opened her personal panel to check the time.
5:57 a.m.
This wasn’t her usual wake-up time.
She then checked the weather conditions.
[Zombie World Day 26, 05:57]
Weather: Heavy rain (turning into light rain in the afternoon)
Temperature: 19°C
Lin Yun lay back down, covered her eyes with one arm, and rested for a while.
She hadn’t felt particularly sleepy when she first woke up, but after looking at the panel, the drowsiness suddenly returned.
Before long, Lin Yun drifted back to sleep.
Before falling asleep, she wondered whether she had been unable to sleep properly because she was worried about what was happening in the mall.
But before she could think any further, she was already asleep again.
Sang Biao peeked at Lin Yun and found that she was asleep.
It carefully climbed over her and lightly jumped onto the floor before heading into the bathroom.
There were too many things scattered around the shelter, so their little nest had been placed at the foot of the bed.
After coming out of the bathroom, Sang Biao jumped onto the table and looked out at the rain for a while.
Then it lazily stretched, yawned, and decided to go back to sleep.
However, before it could move, it suddenly noticed several people passing by outside.
"Sigh, it’s all your fault. If you’d gone to the mall to collect supplies earlier, we wouldn’t have had to wait until the water level rose. Who knows how many supplies are left in the mall now?"
"Don’t give me that. During the first few days after we arrived, there were zombies everywhere as soon as we stepped outside. Would you have dared to go out? We finally managed to deal with the zombies, and then the rain came out of nowhere. What could we have done?"
"You two should stop arguing. The rain isn’t too heavy right now, so hurry up and go to the mall to see if there’s any food left. The timeline in this world isn’t too far gone yet. As long as the food is properly packaged, most of it should still be edible. Go get as much as you can."
"It’s already been more than twenty days. If this continues, we’re going to run out of money."
"Boss, after we’re done looting the mall, how about we drive around the area and look for a base or something? The brothers haven’t had one in ages... hehe."
Scarface slapped the man across the face.
"All you ever think about is women. Keep your manhood under control. If you dare ruin my plans, I’ll cut it off myself!"
A shifty-eyed man immediately chimed in, "Exactly. Driving around will make too much noise. What if we attract the zombies? Even though we have a car, the zombies in this world have different levels."
The man who had made the suggestion immediately shut his mouth.
Indeed, there were speed-type zombies in this world, and encountering a high-level one would definitely not be a good thing.
"You’d all better behave yourselves. The zombies have disappeared over the past two days, and that’s extremely abnormal. Something is definitely going on, so be careful."
After Scarface spoke, the other henchmen around him fell silent as well.
In fact, Scarface had more than just these few subordinates.
However, only these five had been sent into this world this time.
Therefore, Scarface and his group had to be extremely careful.
If anything went wrong, they would all perish here.
Their voices were low, as though they were afraid of disturbing the zombies hiding nearby.
Unbeknownst to them, there was a shelter nearby, bound to the ground floor.
And inside that shelter, a certain cat had heard every word of their conversation.
