Chapter 147: Chapter 147: YOU WANT MY MAMA TOO?!

Another Veskari male immediately said:

"You are the prince. That is precisely why you should close your mouth."

The prince turned.

"You too?"

"Yes."

"I have done nothing."

Every Veskari reacted.

One female laughed.

Another male looked toward the sky.

The Ground-Hoof warrior holding his chain stared at him in complete disbelief.

The blue-haired female slowly crossed her arms.

"You did nothing?"

"Correct."

"You entered the queen’s breeding gardens."

"Accident."

"You released six skyhorns."

"They appeared unhappy."

"You stole a commander’s mount."

"Borrowed."

"You challenged three guards."

"They challenged me first."

"You broke a ceremonial pillar."

"It was poorly made."

"You vanished for four days."

"I returned."

"With half the eastern guard searching for you!"

The prince smiled.

"See? They found me."

The enormous warrior holding his chain yanked it once.

The prince stumbled half a step.

"Abuse."

"You deserve worse."

The prince lifted both chained wrists.

"Look at this!"

He turned toward Swanly as though she, of all people, was now his judge.

"They chained me."

Swanly stared.

"You sound like you earned it."

His face fell.

"Pretty female, do not join them."

"I have known you for less than five minutes."

"And already you wound me."

The blue-haired female closed her eyes.

The prince stepped as far forward as his restraints allowed.

Then lowered his voice dramatically.

"Save only me."

Swanly blinked.

"What?"

He nodded toward his own people.

"Leave them."

The entire Veskari group stared at him.

"They dragged me from home."

"You were ordered to come," the blue-haired female snapped.

"Against my wishes."

"You are part of the royal search party!"

"They use me."

"For what?!"

"My presence."

"You are unbearable."

The prince looked at Swanly.

"See?"

"No," Swanly said.

"They even chain me."

"Because you escape."

The prince ignored her.

"Take me."

Kael snarled.

Soren hissed.

Nerin’s ears flattened.

Swanly looked around.

Wonderful.

Absolutely wonderful.

An unknown ancient species had arrived demanding entry.

Thalara was hiding underground.

Druun hated them.

There was apparently something inside Ironwood they desperately wanted.

One of their princes was chained like an unruly animal.

And somehow this had become a mating dispute.

She was exhausted.

Pregnant.

Hungry again.

And one more male was going to make her bite someone.

Swanly stepped forward.

"Listen carefully."

The prince immediately smiled.

She pointed toward Kael.

"I already have one mate."

Kael’s shoulders loosened slightly.

Then toward Soren.

"And another."

Soren looked extremely satisfied.

Kael immediately became irritated again.

Swanly ignored both.

"Two."

She held up two fingers.

"That is enough."

Miko nodded violently.

"YES!"

Swanly continued.

"I do not want another mate."

The chained prince’s smile faltered.

"I do not want another male."

It fell further.

"I do not want another mating mark."

Kael’s tail flicked.

Soren’s silver eyes gleamed.

"And I definitely do not want some strange chained prince announcing he intends to take me five minutes after seeing my face."

The prince looked genuinely wounded.

"But your face is excellent."

Swanly stared.

He leaned slightly closer.

"And your ears."

Her fox ears immediately flattened.

"And the tail."

Kael stepped forward again.

The prince corrected himself.

"The face is enough."

Swanly inhaled slowly.

"I have not even properly dealt with the second male I already have."

Soren’s head turned.

"What does that mean?"

"Not now."

His eyes narrowed.

Kael suddenly looked interested.

Swanly pointed at both of them.

"Neither of you."

Then back at the prince.

"So no."

The prince’s shoulders slumped.

His wings drooped slightly behind him.

It was almost ridiculous how quickly this huge, dangerous male suddenly looked rejected.

"You refuse me?"

"Yes."

"Completely?"

"Yes."

"Perhaps after food?"

"No."

"After sleep?"

"No."

"After you know me?"

"No."

He sighed dramatically.

"What cruelty."

Swanly stared.

The prince lifted his violet eyes toward her again.

Then smiled faintly.

"You are still very pretty."

Swanly’s face heated despite herself.

Not because she wanted him.

Absolutely not.

But there was something uniquely irritating about being stared at by an absurdly beautiful creature who said things with complete shameless confidence.

Kael noticed the faint color immediately.

His head snapped toward her.

Soren noticed too.

His tail stopped moving.

Nerin noticed.

His gaze dropped at once.

His fingers tightened around the herbs he was carrying.

Swanly saw all three reactions.

Her blush disappeared beneath instant irritation.

"Oh, for fuck’s sake."

The prince looked delighted again.

"You become prettier when angry."

Kael growled.

Soren’s tail struck the ground.

Nerin muttered quietly:

"I dislike him."

Arion glanced at him.

Nerin’s eyes widened.

"I said nothing."

"You did."

"I meant..."

Arion almost smiled.

"Too late."

Meanwhile, the blue-haired female had not smiled once.

Her name was Veyra.

A high-born Veskari female raised among the royal flight.

For years, she had remained near the prince.

Through his disappearances.

His fights.

His punishments.

His endless disasters.

Through every female placed before him.

Every alliance suggested.

Every beautiful daughter from powerful families.

He had never cared.

Not once.

Sometimes he barely remembered their names.

Yet now...

Veyra watched him stare at Swanly.

A beastwoman.

A little fox female barely reaching the height of some Veskari females’ shoulders.

Pregnant.

Already marked.

Already surrounded by males.

Primitive.

Soft-skinned.

Wingless.

Inferior.

There was nothing remarkable about her.

Nothing.

Veyra’s fingers slowly curled.

Her claws pressed against her palms.

The prince laughed at something Swanly said.

Veyra’s jaw tightened.

He had never looked at anyone that way.

Not with immediate interest.

Not with amusement.

Not like he had found something he wanted to chase simply because it had told him no.

Her eyes moved over Swanly.

Silver-white hair.

White ears.

That enormous tail.

Pretty?

Perhaps.

But not enough for this.

Veyra looked away before anyone noticed.

Almost anyone.

Nilo noticed.

He was standing beside Kairo now.

Quiet.

Watching.

His little golden eyes narrowed.

He tugged Kairo’s hide tunic.

"Kairo."

"What?"

Nilo pointed subtly.

"Female."

Kairo followed his gaze.

Veyra was staring at Swanly again.

Her face looked calm.

Her eyes did not.

Kairo frowned.

"She angry?"

Nilo nodded.

"Mama."

Kairo became serious.

Both looked toward Miko.

Bad decision.

"Miko," Kairo whispered.

Miko turned.

"What?"

Kairo tried to pull him closer.

"Quiet."

Miko immediately became suspicious.

"Why?"

"Just quiet."

Nilo pointed slightly toward Veyra.

Miko followed his finger.

He saw the female.

Saw her clenched hand.

Saw the way she stared at Swanly.

Miko’s eyes widened.

Recognition dawned.

He had seen that look before.

Selka made that face.

Females who disliked Mama made that face.

Miko inhaled.

Kairo saw it.

"No."

Miko opened his mouth.

Kairo lunged.

Too late.

"HEY!"

Every head turned.

Miko pointed directly at Veyra.

The blue-haired female froze.

"You female!"

Kairo covered his face.

Nilo slowly stepped away from both brothers.

Miko narrowed his golden eyes.

"Why you looking at my Mama like that?"

Silence.

Veyra stared.

The prince turned toward her.

Swanly slowly turned too.

Miko’s tiny finger remained pointed straight at Veyra.

Then his eyes widened with sudden horror.

"YOU JEALOUS TOO?!"

Veyra’s face changed.

Miko gasped.

Then shouted even louder:

"YOU WANT MY MAMA TOO?!"
