Jiang Wanwan felt a sense of relief in her heart when she heard she was allowed to leave.

"Can we go now?" He Fusheng asked.

Ning Chenguang nodded and pulled Jiang Wanwan away.

After sending Jiang Wanwan home, Ning Chenguang felt a heavy weight in his heart.

As they walked back, he said to He Fusheng, "Uncle He, I want to call my mom."

"Sure! There’s a phone at the convenience store here! Why didn’t you say so earlier?" He Fusheng found Ning Chenguang’s behavior odd.

"I don’t like that old man; he feels annoying," Ning Chenguang said, frowning.

"You little rascal..." He Fusheng couldn’t help but laugh. "Alright, you say what you want. I’ll take you to make a call when I go to town tomorrow."

Ning Chenguang felt he needed to talk to his mother about this. Although Wanwan didn’t want him to tell anyone, he thought it might help if he talked to his mom to find a way to help her.

The next morning, Ning Chenguang didn’t go to school; he went straight to town with He Fusheng.

After finishing their business, He Fusheng took him to a small shop where there was a public phone. You could make calls for a small fee.

Ning Chenguang dialed the number of An Hao’s hospital, feeling nervous as he waited for his mom to answer.

Soon, the phone was picked up, and An Hao’s gentle voice came through from the other end of the line: "Hello? Who is this?"

"Mom, it’s me." Ning Chenguang became excited upon hearing An Hao’s voice. "I’m calling you from a store in town."

Receiving an unexpected call from Ning Chenguang, An Hao felt very surprised.

But aside from the surprise, there was more delight: "Son, do you miss mom?"

"Of course, I miss you. But..."

"But what?" An Hao pressed, sensing from his hesitation that he had something important to say.

"I have something I need your help with." Ning Chenguang looked around to make sure no one was paying attention and then lowered his voice.

"Go ahead." An Hao felt a sudden pang, realizing that her son’s unusual behavior might be related to what he was about to share.

Hearing his mother’s voice reassured Ning Chenguang, and he knew he couldn’t delay Jiang Wanwan’s issue any longer.

So he told her everything: "I made a new friend; her name is Jiang Wanwan. But an old man keeps touching her and even takes off her clothes..."

Afraid someone might overhear, Chenguang spoke quickly and in a low voice.

Yet An Hao understood it all clearly.

Hearing this, she was utterly shocked, never imagining that such a thing could happen in this simple rural setting!

An old man doing this to a young girl was beyond despicable—it was downright criminal!

"Guangguang! Listen to mom, you did everything right! But your strength alone isn’t enough. You need to tell Wanwan’s family and have Uncle He take you to report to the police." An Hao understood the gravity of the situation.

Not knowing was one thing, but now that she did, she couldn’t allow this old man to ruin a young girl’s life.

"But Wanwan doesn’t want anyone to know." Ning Chenguang had kept silent because of the promise he made with Wanwan.
