Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s
Chapter 2726 - 2719: Mistaken Identity
Liang Xiuzhu was making lunch in the kitchen when she noticed they were out of salt, so she asked He Yue to go to the small store at the village entrance to buy some.
He Yue took the money and hurried off. As soon as she entered the store, she saw the shopkeeper, who was drunk.
"Grandpa Shi, I want to buy some salt," said He Yue, as she stood on tiptoe to place the money on the counter.
But the shopkeeper acted as if he hadn’t heard her, holding a bottle of alcohol in one hand and tossing peanuts into his mouth with the other.
It’s been so many days without seeing Jiang Wanwan. He had managed to bring her close, but then Ning Chenguang spoiled it.
He was filled with irritation.
Today he had another argument with his wife, which made him feel even worse. Since there weren’t many customers around at noon, he decided to drink a bottle of liquor by himself.
The more he drank, the more annoyed he became, and the more annoyed he became, the more he drank, until he was now in a drunken stupor, his mind unclear.
He Yue came to buy salt, and he could only hear someone talking, but he couldn’t make out who it was despite trying to open his eyes wide.
"Grandpa Shi, I need salt quickly! My mom is waiting for it to cook!" He Yue shouted loudly, seeing him in such a daze.
"Salt... salt..." the shopkeeper mumbled as he stood up, swaying, and took a bag of salt from the shelf, tossing it onto the counter.
"Here’s the money!" He Yue took the salt and pushed the money towards the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper glanced at He Yue with blurred eyes and suddenly reached out to grab her small hand, "You’re here... finally here... I’ve been thinking about you..."
His sudden expression gave He Yue a big scare.
The look in his eyes was like a big bad wolf seeing a little bunny, filled with a dangerous greed.
"Grandpa Shi, what are you doing? Let go of me," He Yue quickly tried to pull her hand back, but the shopkeeper held it tightly.
"Don’t leave! Come in quickly... Grandpa has some treats for you..." the shopkeeper said as he staggered around the counter towards He Yue.
"I don’t want any! Let me go, I want to go home!!" He Yue shouted loudly.
"Go home for what! Come with grandpa!" the shopkeeper said, covering He Yue’s mouth to stop her from screaming, and picked her up, heading straight for the small dark room.
"Mmm... mmm..." He Yue felt an unprecedented fear and squirmed to escape his grasp.
But it was useless.
The shopkeeper no longer cared about his store, his mind completely driven by desire, desperate to do something.
After locking He Yue in the small dark room, the shopkeeper’s eyes gleamed with malice.
He grabbed He Yue and tried to kiss her face, muttering unclearly, "Wanwan... Wanwan! You can’t... escape!"
He Yue’s heart was pounding furiously. She pushed him away with all her strength, shouting, "I’m not Wanwan! I’m He Yue! He Yue!"
The shopkeeper squinted his eyes, trying to look at He Yue, but all he saw were double images.
"Open your eyes wide for me!" He Yue, anxious and scared, used her hands to pry his eyelids open, "Look clearly!"
The shopkeeper, in pain from being pried, opened his eyes wide and, for a brief moment, saw clearly the person in front of him.
She wore her hair in two pigtails, her fair pinkish face with a blush, and her red lips glistened with a layer of moisture, looking irresistibly enticing!
