This meal, He Fusheng didn’t enjoy at all. Anyone with something on their mind couldn’t possibly eat well.

After the meal, he put down his bowl and chopsticks, got up, and prepared to leave.

"Uncle He, where are you going?" Ning Chenguang hurriedly asked upon seeing him about to leave.

"Guangguang, be good and finish your meal. Uncle has to go out for a while; there’s something urgent I need to handle." He Fusheng didn’t have time to explain further to Ning Chenguang, he was anxious to go to the village chief’s house.

"Is it about little sister Yueyue?" Ning Chenguang asked, "Uncle, take me with you, I’ll go with you."

"You shouldn’t go. This afternoon, either go to school or stay home and play with Yueyue." He Fusheng thought it inconvenient to take a child along; there were many things he couldn’t say in front of them.

"Uncle He, you must take me. Or you have to take Yueyue as well. Otherwise, can the village chief believe you just by yourself?" Ning Chenguang looked at him with shiny black eyes; though young, his mind was full of thoughts.

"You two shouldn’t go. Children won’t be of any help, so don’t create more trouble," He Fusheng said.

"Yeah, you two just don’t go," Liang Xiuzhu chimed in, "You kids can’t help here, let the adults handle this."

"Uncle He, this morning when I told you about this, you didn’t believe me. In your heart, you actually trust that store owner, right? Wouldn’t the village chief also not believe you? I think to be sure, you should take me and Yueyue along; when the time comes, we can explain the situation; it could be of some help."

He Fusheng hesitated for a moment, he thought Ning Chenguang made a good point.

If he hadn’t seen his own daughter suffering such grievances, even he wouldn’t dare to believe that old Shi could be a bad person.

If he himself didn’t believe, would the village chief believe so easily?

"I think Guangguang makes sense, maybe you should take them along," Liang Xiuzhu didn’t expect Guangguang to not only excel in studies but also see through these matters clearly.

"Alright! No more words, let’s hurry up and go."

"Alright!"

At the village chief’s house, they had also just finished lunch. He was flossing his teeth while watching TV.

There weren’t any good programs at noon, so he turned off the TV and prepared to lie down for a nap.

Just as he was about to lie down after removing his shoes, he heard someone calling him from the yard.

"Who’s there?" The village chief shouted.

"It’s Fusheng," shouted his wife, who was cleaning pots in the kitchen. "Get up quickly, don’t sleep!"

"Let him in; I haven’t laid down yet!"

He Fusheng entered the house with the two children. Just as they sat down, the village chief pulled back the curtain and walked in.

"What’s up, Fusheng? What brings you here at noon?"

"I have something to discuss with you," He Fusheng said directly, skipping the pleasantries.

"Alright, go ahead," The village chief saw he was serious, so he sat down and listened intently.

"What I want to discuss is the old Shi in our village—Shi Yukuan! He... isn’t a good person; the things he’s done are worse than a beast." Mentioning this, He Fusheng was filled with rage.

The anger he had just managed to suppress now surged again.

"Fusheng, what do you mean by that? What’s up with old Shi?" The village chief asked, puzzled.
